Correct, Even the Maxi design chamber is a close fit,(3/16 inch between the chamber and backing plate). The one plus with this design brake chamber is they can be re-sealed for about $40 as long as the internal metal parts are serviceable. I installed the new chamber today, adjusted all the brakes, and took it out for it's first test drive. The guess on the top speed was correct, 47-48 mph at 2000 rpm in 5th/Hi split, Everything seems to be operating as it should, next will be replacing the bed floor, it's pretty well shot. -

I know, I collected Military trucks before, so expensive parts are not suprising. -

The new brake chamber from Haldex arrived today, this truck has Type 20 Maxibrake chambers on it, It was missing one when it arrived. These Maxi type chambers aren't cheap, $381 each. -

14 ton!! Yeah, here in NC, single axles can gross 33,000, a tandem tops out at 55,000, tri axles at 61,800 and a quad at 68,000 lbs, if it is a longer wheelbase you can apply for an extra 10% over I think. Based on that I highly doubt I will ever over load the chassis on this truck. -

Yeah, I was thinking north of 29,000 empty, limits me to about 12 to 13 tons I can haul here in NC. -

It says 50.19 for 2100 rpm, but then again I didn't expect it to be a interstate truck. I really went from one extreme to the other in dump trucks here, My R685 had 34K rears and a 10k front axle with no power steering and 6.34 gears, was only double framed from the rear motor mounts to just forward of the trunnion stand and weighed 20,800 lbs with a full tank of fuel. This B815 on the other hand has 65K rears geared 9.34 ,16K front axle with power steering and is triple framed from the rear to just in front of the motor mounts, and I have no idea what it will weigh empty. Time will tell. -

Well, most data sheets I can find list the TRQ 720 as having a .66 overdrive, it has 12.00 R24 tires that are about 49 1/2 inches tall. Using an axle ratio calculator I found online, at 2000 rpm it should be about 47.8 mph I replaced the suction hoses from the cylinders to the hyd pump this evening and refilled the system with fresh hyd oil, everything work as it should with no leaks. -

Well, I finally got around to doing some work and inspection on the B, all I have to say is WOW, clean and rust free is about as well as I can describe it, other than the surface rust on the fender tops and grill guard, that's it. As for the specs, It is a ENDT 675 with Jakes, it has a TRQ 720 quadraplex it has a 16K front axle and 65K rears with 9.34(!) gears. I think it is an early Warren dump bed with a Warren underbody twin cylinder hoist with no hyd tank and all air shift controls. I have all of the chrome badges and trim work for the hood, except I have 3 half bulldogs for the left side of the hood and none for the right. It is also missing the Mack nameplate for the upper radiator tank, but other than that the truck is in excellent shape with 1008 hours and 22,800 miles showing, (I'm assuming sine the restoration). -

Evening Folks, I am happy to report the B arrived safely this morning, and with a couple fresh batteries, fired right up with no issues. It is a 237 Mack w/jakes, and looks to be a really low time engine, I drove it off the trailer and the last mile home with no problem. Pic of it sitting in the driveway next to my F250 service truck.- 102 replies

I do believe that is correct, I should know something later this week, the shipper should be picking it up either Thursday or Friday. -

Evening all, I did go ahead and add this truck to the B model registry this evening. Still not here yet, possibly this week. -

Pics will be posted as soon as it makes it here, I plan on keeping it completely stock, just some paint and go back to a single exhaust. I will still have a modest work life, just no abuse. I have been in contact with garden wolf about his B42 and may be going to take a look at that one soon. Why have 1 B model when you can have 2 right? -

Well folks, The deal was struck today, I agreed to buy the B815 SX pictured above, I actually called a friend who moves equipment and inquired about moving it, he was going to be 30 miles from the truck on Tuesday this week, So it should be here by the weekend. -
Looks like the DM 600 has 50K rears? The frame does have some rust jacking starting, but it could be saved. Are there titles available for either?
-
Do you have any more pictures of the DM600, especially the frame and rears? I have been looking for a steel nose DM for a while.

The truck is located in Eliot, Maine, I live in Morganton, NC. The more I consider it, I will probably have it hauled, just too many "Gotcha" moments that could happen on that long of a trip. -

Nice truck, Even though I am only 45, I actually cut my teeth on a B61, it was the first class 8 truck I ever drove, guy I worked for just out of school had one in his family owned grading business. It took me several days, but I eventually got the quad shifting down. -

I have thought about it, 914 miles from here, I guess it will depend on the condition of the tires and driveline, I figure at least a 2 day drive home. That would be the cheaper option vs having it hauled, but if something major were to go wrong, that would be a huge tow bill. -
