  1. eliminated the "protection mode " possibly another way of saying :: I didn't fix anything , but here's the bill. if there is an electrical situation; why would some one eliminate any safety devices ??
  2. on my 1/25th scale builds , the computers are disconnected to save battery power LOL
  3. you should have been around when alternators FIRST came in to use on big trucks from factory. there was a major constant electrical draw. new trucks at the dealer could stay on the front line for weeks , cold or warm weather , turn key they would start right up:::: IF THEY HAD A GENERATOR. alternator set up batteries were dead in few days.
  4. I know i'm too old for change in many areas ; I have some 3-D printed units . to me the resin molds have more correct detail. BUT as is said opinions are like a$$holes ; everyone has one. 3-D is making it easier for many things to be made = no need for expense molding forms. always a positive some where. glass half empty or half full
  5. based on ole school, I agree with the bad ground JoJo. but that would be for the lights acting f--ked up . that wouldn't kill the batteries . 2011 is way tooo new for me to know the electrical system. batteries going dead would lead to relay/ module /open circuit with key off. honestly I never knew of a "protection mode. will defiantly be watching for a cure on this one for new day knowledge.
  6. glad it's fixed , for the sake of $$$ hope it didn't become " lets change parts till we find something" .. side note I thought we were "working" on right rear axle .
  7. no tee in the system going to a up rite exhaust , top it off with bulldog on the hood, it will become a single stack Mack.🤣🤣
  8. I would go with the idea of :: what would the neighbors prefer. noise concern of curved dual up vs dual up straight stack ;; just sayin:: my vote is dual up.

  10. yrs back I was honored to know an elder gent who was a machinist. worked full time at major machine shop ; had section of his garage set up with three-phase. (not common in residential area ). he was able to purchase large lathes etc from company. never carried a tape measure instead had micrometers at all times. watched him make pins/ bushings allowing only enough tolerance for thickness of grease!! tattoo on his arm group of numbers ; he never could talk about them :: He survived the concentration camp . such a talented self learned Man.
  11. it's not always the mechanic if he's working at a big time dealer shop. sad side is like the medical field pushes pills; the Maintenace area seems to be pushing parts. so different from yrs back (for the most part).
  12. also there is a web site for truck model building .the tires in the DM 800 kit for me are tooo small. don't think anyone is continuing resin truck kits . best bet the model truck builder site
  13. I've been model building since the '60's. Dave has sadly passed away. for your RD use the DM800 kit ; modify the cab mounting. I have two DM800's in build process now. I also have a HD hayes frame rail chassis from AIM ; late Jim Etter which would work for a large car Mack . saving it for off high-way brute.

  15. I too watch the elders to try and avoid things: the mental / physical operations change automatically. today is My Fathers birthday would have been 99; left us in "97. often wonder how the age factor would have effected him today. GOING OFF TOPIC

  19. and maybe learn the one with the grease gun proper tech for greasing throw out bearing. why would some one have two on the shaft ???
  20. glass is so clean and clear i can even see the brockway out in the yard. that steel nose on the brockways to me was always impressive looking. darn great choice of blue on the Mack also.
  21. If Mr. Rockwell suggested the place they "must have been good once" like many operations today ; place is still there , personal inside changed along with attitudes and interest. times change and none of the changes seem for the better anymore.

  23. could be one of those things which will never amount to anything; but has more of a mental strain on you ;;, always wondering driving down the road. if not being done at present time , possibly oil sampling if there is availability . helps monitor internals.
  24. no DD but one fine lookin show piece. got caught up in listening to the earlier post of the single cyl DD running. what a sound (especially compared to the bellering sound the wife makes )LOL
  25. expanded picture large as possible , tough call. based on smooth sides a liner piece would be in top five possibilities. any other contaminates in oil. this is a situation why i always use a clean drain pan when oil changing. let old oil set a while then run a magnet through see what fine particles show up. oil analysis might help. how was engine running ?? noise/pressure etc
