  1. don't have any "popping noise " any more since prostate cancer .
  2. the outer/inner parts I remember!! it's the "tool to hold the outer drum"; can't recall.
  3. what's it look like ?? 50 yrs later no Body tells me nothin till now!! install the drum/nut then air gun the sh- t outta it. never cared for the "auto" dividers . then again never cared for auto transmissions in big trucks with exceptions "sanitation removal units /fire dept etc )
  4. do I see a red bottle jack sitting on the ground holding up the set of wheels ??? where is the board under the jack for safety ?????
  5. always loosen the fasteners (not getting set up saying "loosen the nuts") then hit the rim. watched a pro tire man remove all the fasteners ; stand to the side and rail the rim with a large sledge: those wedges went flying. I wouldn't want to be in front of them.
  6. what's all this talk about an OLD cobra CB (especially the 29 ) ; I bought those and used them when they were BRAND NEW !!!! LOL
  7. being a fire pumper, should have a dual start system ; does it have the master disconnect switch ?? having "start 1 /start 2 ??seems some what a light battery program ' meaning only 2 -- 12's , not 2 sets of 6 ? any electrical work done lately on a possible positive ground unit and someone hooked a negative ground device ??
  8. picture of the good ole better days. don't want to show my age;;; but worked on those when they ran the highways .LOL
  9. memory serves me right ; that was nicknamed the giant.
  10. not only do I miss the car; but more over the pretty girl that sat on the passenger side.!!
  11. It's not "shit hanging around so long" ;;; it more like none of us expected to accumulate such a vast inventory. LOL . I've scaled back from the farm days ; where you saved everything to now , and still with this moving project am finding stuff forgot I had.
  12. block the wheels/ let the brakes off / jack up one of the front drive wheels and by hand spin the wheels . WITH ENGINE OFF . you won't spin it fast enough to create the clicking noise. but possibly can hear/locate a problem in rear end or drive line. this will also take tension off the drive line so you are able to go under and check for an issue with drive shaft. just a thought from an ole man. everyone else covered the rest.
  13. for me it was a sky blue '67 ford Fairlane; 289 /auto . nice basic square box on wheels. bought it used.
  14. sure would be great to go back to the days I could bend over enough to tie my shoes ! it 's only slip ons for me now. won't even discuss the major operations it takes to put on socks. "the golden years" what a crock!! LOL
  15. now we will ALL be waiting to see the hat being worn while the DM is on parade!!🤣
  16. tired me out just reading all the work done. those days seem to be gone for me now.
  17. bought my '77 F-350 (little Mack ) flat bed dump brand new. there is a picture on my profile moving a box truck body my Father used for cow barn; had it up on 55 gal barrels. some where I have the truck carrying the engine combo for ole #1 Mack.
  18. had to be before 1975 (left Mack in june '75 ), can't remember if it had one of number of green interiors or the "new" brown interior with wrap around dash.
  19. years back I went to Albany NY to pick up a brand new F exactly like the picture; single axle. should have thought about lowering tire pressure. long bouncing ride from Albany NY Mack to Waterbury. CT. Mack. The fun days for sure,
  20. have seen shafts worn extensively and in the day; permatex was used 'on the saft before install of sleeve. some what before the days of all the dozens of silicones of today. quick fill then install the sleeve. not alot of time ; permatex set fast.
  21. yes they did. smaller one's came with the tin cup as JoJo mentioned.
  22. seems todays " mechanic" will just replace a worn yoke . days gone by the speedi-sleeve saved an owner a lot of cash. don't know if the computers would be able to diagnose a leaking seal today. a good friend and owner operator had his KW upstate with a problem. took it to a dealer only to be told " we don't know the answer to your problem; hopefully you can make it back to CT. that's after 3 hrs of jerk around at $200.oo per.
  23. the sighs of a true MECHANIC ;; repair :: don't replace; make additional use of everything. and so "i've heard " if you break a shot glass the tin cups also work for a replacement !! after hrs of course.
  24. nice addition to a superfine collection, order placed.
  25. in the day ; they were called "speedi-sleeves-" for rear end yokes or wheel seal applications.
