  1. now i have to rewrite my Christmas wish list!!! I want one of those. I remember seeing pictures of that unit years ago ; just don't remember where. big THANK YOU for the post
  2. the coyote used to do some "challenging things " to the road runner ; no one ever thought of the violence . AND don't forget the three stooges .LOL . how far would archie bunker get in todays world = the younger generation missed so much !!
  3. some one took the time to weld a step for reaching the plug.you would think a little more time of fabricating would have been spent to run the wire. 100 % agreement with all the suggestions of what it was for. single pole heavy power ??
  4. most conversions were done on B's that were worn out or in one case a "mystery" fire burned the cabs on two B dumps . didn't see any left over new B's changed.
  5. they were called B C R's . B model Converted to R model. waterbury Mack did a few back when they first came out. don't remember stamping the frame.
  6. told Ya ; doesn't get any better than that !!!! LMAO
  7. that's what is called picture perfect.LOL LOL ! after watching gleason talk to the bandit so many times in the movie; can just "hear" him saying that fathers day message. thanks for the post
  8. sure hope it's clean dirt they put in those dumps, black with red Dm is like Allen beards dump fleet of yrs gone by in CT.
  9. it's a high tech B model with a roof mount low pro AC. now that's driving in style. "67 ????? . i'm agreement there.
  10. watch mecum (and other) auctions when a "numbered" vehicle shows up; the $$$ roll out. factory years ago wanted old number 1 == R607T 1001 from owner in southbury CT . heard they made heck of a great offer and were turned down. now it sits with very little interest :: at least inside building. many yrs back the supposable first U model was for sale in new jersey .. U607T 1001. don't know it's fate.
  11. when work was fun; now the old age brain cells are taxed.i remember using a red/yellow tube of white grease instead of the prussian blue and can't remember the name .
  12. i still remember the loud bang when the press (60 ton) takes out the ring gear shaft . one of my mentors at waterbury mack ; ole man (said with respect ) Dixon ran the machine shop. he told me when pressing that gear stand on side of press and work the handle'' and i did! the good old days
  13. seems to be another sign of today's times; "back in the day" many fleets had color coded fleets and pride.i see more and more companies (on east coast any how) buying and using trucks of any color they get. F&F concrete have a few trucks going back to blue and orange. Bozzuto's fleet of light blue are a mixed bag now. etc.
  14. I had a '49 EE dump with plow and a '49 EF flatbed = worked great for hauling hay. had to get rid of them :couldn't find the USB plug. NO; things change= they sat. fun time snow plowing. except in sub zero temps and i had to get out for manual turning of plow.
  15. and I thought that meant they were Santa Claus trade ins ; sled must be retired by now . and Rudolf the red nose reindeer must be old.
  16. and i was told they didn't make many pain in the a--es . but i married one!πŸ˜…
  17. second picture you can see the large hyd lines going to the control valve . forward for mix / reverse for discharge,
  18. trans P T O to hyd pump to rear pump drive motor operating the chain and sprocket. trucks sure look tough and built for the part.. NO plastic . bet they eliminated the front pump drive to make room for the air conditioner !!!!! LOL 😁
  19. Update:::LOL short circuit in the ole age brain cells:: i'm thinking of Arute Bros. having the LM yrs back i was looking at , not the Suzio one. doesn't mean i won't investigate Suzio's.. and maybe another trip to Polish deli ☺️
  20. didn't think there were any trucks still there. I looked at the LM way back in the day when they were still in operation. Dick Kemp in NH also had (at least) one when i was there ;; had to be back early '70's. darn i was just in that area Friday ; heck of a good Polish deli off broad street.
  21. LM ? off set cab;; "older cousin " to the DM series .. can't find my books (or mind). LOL
  22. unfortunately seem to be more prove there isn't a middle class anymore. there is the working /struggling class and the super rich . see the news where a russian brass had his 300 million $ yacht seized ! one of many. that's more money then some small countries have. auto auctions are unbelievably . 147K would have bought how many diamond T's back when they were brand new !!!!
  23. count me in LOL ;; just DON'T call it the "golden years" . I've got 5 yrs seniority.
  24. not only the cab work is looking great ; the shop with it's clean, organized appearance is beyond WOW. everyone has "their thing" ,for me it maintenance shops or old barns, i know too many yrs of breathing brake clean LOL and the C cab is unique in it's own respect
  25. sad part is in the 3-4 yrs you wait , they will change the yr of eligibility. it keeps going up . people (wife included) have same ideas; wait little bit longer and get more.i did some math and figured how much i'm giving up over those yrs of waiting. it's a toss up and everyone's situation is different. after 35+yrs in union, had a meeting with pension personal. i was told " due to the fact i'm in a union job that doesn't have a union pension, union will be taking $200.oo a MONTH from my retirement fund." i paid in for over 35 yrs in to pension.
