  1. having left/ right hand thread would be older style budd wheels having inner and outer nuts. square socket for inner "nut" ; 1 1/4 ?socket for outer nut. progress to uni-mount nuts all were right hand thread. seems majority of post now point to same thing ;;;if we only had that magic crystal ball back then !! what was thought to be common items then are obsolete now in such a short time.
  2. The Nina/ Pinta had more problems with the fuel lines= I had to be on call for major break down=== now how's that for staying on topic. LOL😂🤣
  3. I didn't come over here on Santa Maria " that was the upper class people , I was on the Nina =lower deck. LOL
  4. What not painted !! LMAO> looks good. hopefully questions on other topic discussing new lines and fittings will look at this picture to see older style fittings vs new two piece fittings. new style #8 going in older style #6 out/return?
  5. bring it up to $6500.oo labor ($500.oo for me ) ' I'll load my toolbox (3 deck matco ) and two other smaller boxes monday am ''be there!! LOL . nah = can't. if only 30 yrs younger.
  6. based on the picture shown; the #6 line has "old style" fitting requiring tool (another male fitting ) to assemble. newer fittings have only two pieces not 3. swivel end has collar . philips screwdriver of proper size to fit in hose with lube works well.
  7. might just be a deceiving picture. valve cover dark in photo is closer to firewall then quick look makes it appear. I would go with idea of some "mismatched" items. fan sits low in radiator shroud. I built a U-600 glider for a customer while at Mack ; don't recall how the vin number was written. shows twin-stick ; can't see complete shift pattern on dash. 6-speed low hole ?? unless it's a "give away" on price . i'd look more as a parts unit.
  8. think the list for the crystal ball darn endless. number one on my list is today I would be single and possibly happy; along with being in another profession with knees that might still work.
  9. in the day (yrs back) ; target tool was old style welding rod having flux removed=perfect fit in squirters, technical piece was clear 1/4 in plastic plate having groove on underside to fit on liner. within liner circle on plastic plate was square etched in .proper squirter location would have welding rod pointing in the etched square.
  10. can you get permission to drill a hole on end supports then rotate turn table and drill through support hole into turn table pipe random spots. when engine installed can rotate /line up drilled hole / install pins ??
  11. it is "normal" to look at those pictures of an engine and have same rise as walking in to a strip club '' Isn't it . LOL coat of paint -same as tight bikini == engine start same as light moans . blame it on too much breathing asbestos clutch/brake dust.
  12. if ever a snap ring was installed on the hold down bolts by factory new ; it was eliminated years ago. is the first END build on a stand or in frame ????? taxing the brain cells once again ;;;; can't remember first full rebuild ; hate old age ;; remember a few outstanding full builds, can't say first.
  13. know all about the pedal feathering in front of paving machine. fortunately the DM800 i part time drove had a trolley valve . too many things to concentrate on back in the day doing things such as dumping in to a paver NOT having capabilities of taking full dump load. fuel pedal working to raise body;; paying VERY close attention to paver operator ;; you had better lower that body FAST when he motioned so. or asphalt all over the place. keep in mind truck was also pulling the paver . proper speed needed or job looked like crap. with trolley valve one less thing to do on foot operation. screw up and driver shoveled excess
  14. that groove has been on hold down bolts far as I can remember (NOT a good comparison I know); fiber carbon washer under side of hold down bolt between cover and bolt head with a slight amount of sealant . sealant for lube movement . have seen and installed bolts with new washers only to have washer tear apart being installed dry.
  15. possible a glider kit with numbers hand stamped. even the distance between figures looks spread.
  16. what appears to be a F might be an R not fully printed ???? even the S's don't seem to be strongly stamped ??
  17. SORRY for YOUR loss, Bob . unfortunately ;; I'm in same situation at the moment. three funerals in last month. one took my get up and go . how did you make out with the modified exhaust?? . challenge of the hood would send me scouting for another one and use this one for spare time retirement project.
  18. the prep days before / no sleep for days during ; and the clean up for days after, remember it well. being young . gong ho : made it through. do it again today as ole man ==Never happen. clean up days after when sun finally showed up for me was the fun part. the TD 20 finally made it's way back from across town opening roads . I spent much time with the 20 pushing snow into the river as trucks hauled snow in. restaurant owner came over to me asked if I would clean his parking lot. said push snow by that pile in back. so I did . up over the pile the 20 went , made huge tall pile of snow. spring time revealed "the pile" was what was left of a car driven over by a TD 20 dozer!!
  19. now as we all sit in the senior citizen homes :: look at all the memories WE have . LOL if lucky enough the younger generations that feel sorry for US old folk will think::"they lost their memory =what are tire chains"
  20. basically like most it comes down to one major factor ;;is the price vs interest worth it?? asking price/ shipping to repair location / available $$$'s // time to restore.??
  21. blizzard of '78 in CT . mounted V-plow AND chains on all wheels of road grader; mount flood lights for round the clock snow removal. TD -20 dozer left the garage headed down the main road worked it's way to other side of town . operator 48hrs no sleep nor did the dozer have full cab ;;we did a make -shift enclosure.
  22. how is it a valuable piece of history to Most females is to be considered junk BUT all the trinkets around the house and chotkeys are thought to be needed?? please pay attention to statement MOST females ==NOT ALL . imin trouble with one female right now ;;; don't want a riot in this yard
  23. cross braces are not unusual for B's ; without a doubt there is a lineup situation with fan vs shroud ;; could be one of many items. main point to consider is :: are enough truck/ parts vs dollar in question worth asking price,?? after purchase/shipping/ rebuild how far in debt would buyer be ?? major restoration looking at rotten floor panels . obvious not all parts original . broken mounts ? flex hose used for radiator inlet/ outlet. all in all the 75 is one fine looking truck. days at waterbury Mack Trucks myself and another mechanic /wrecker driver did our darnest to convince owner to replace the old '57 diamond-T wrecker chassis with a trade in Mack B-75 .;; NO way would he. ended up with a B-61 with 10 uni-shift. was still nicer then the ole '57 T.
  24. where did 5:50 go that you are in question of ???
  25. one of three painted yellow?? the list is endless. main factor ;;truck condition vs price dollar value vs practicality . if you only search for rare go to a steak house. it's more toward keeping history alive at a price and interest you have
