  1. possibly the thought process was : if we spend a "little" more money and buy a stainless it will last longer carrying salt sand and so forth. either that they want a 1st prize trophy in Memorial day parade.
  2. just don't bend those fish bowls under bumper =LOL under side of hood also painted ; Darn nice job ;not a rattle can paint job. A+A+A+A+A+
  3. checking the picture , same thoughts crossed my mind. sharp looking fleet ;; but that DM just stands out .. stance . appearance ; it's a HD looking work truck. might be the "ole school" look;; round air horns and much more.
  4. that must have slid a ways and hit hard , lucky for driver he wasn't between trailer and bridge abutment . bend frame / rip mounts !!
  5. NO u-joints in cab to box column ?? can't confirm based on brain cells. has to / should be a swivel in there some place. purpose of front off ground with wheel movement helps adjusting procedure. that small 1/2- 5/8th adjusting bolt WILL NOT move wheels on ground .. also improper adjustment you may find yourself with steering that bind one two spots. check the pitman arm spring with wheels ON the ground. easier for one in cab turning steering wheel while assistant watches ball joint movement under (leather - I know i'm old ) cover.
  6. stethoscope/ infrared temp gun??? what are these things you speak of ??? guess you forgot the yellow crayon method. .forgive me Sir , I had a tooo!!!!🤣major long day out in the cold prepping for the north east Blissard which mistakenly I assumed those projects for me were over 40-50 yrs ago, Jack Daniels hasn't kicked in yet, knees let me know == not going to fill gas cans. gotta get back on topic .my john deere fires on all cyl ok== both of them LOL
  7. I didn't think there were many ; if any dealerships that knew how to diagnose any more.. thought it was all about parts changing at $200.oo per hr till problem was fixed. how luck you and very few are in today's world to have dealership/ shop that have half an interest to problem solve.
  8. now since this is a family site ; we won't go an elaborate on doing something with your hands !!!LOL . maybe buffing out the hood on DM600 ???🤣😱🤣😂
  9. living in good ole U S A and you think there will be "spare cash " hello mr biden this gentleman says he will have spare cash. Im sure the border crossers should have it !! imagine thinking the VETERANS deserve it , shame on you. they fought and died for this rotten place ==spare cash ?? LOL
  10. that's what I said about marriage also !!LOL looks dangerous; who can turn down freebie. NOT FREE AT ALL , least the buzz from the chainsaw is "music to you ears ".
  11. many years ago one of my customers bought a DM800 triaxle from down southern way having a similar dump body. body was higher then 2 ton drop asphalt Shutes at locate plant ;;;I had to back under and then it was only 3/4 way. fun days
  12. steering box "tight as it will go ";; with front end jacked up off ground - are you trying adjustment ???complete turn to left then to right ?? the garrison hyd assist is a new one for me or just another example of senior brain loss. , reservoir with filter in canister ??? air assist I have seen/installed. with out a doubt you have checked the steering u-joints in shaft , spring NOT broke in pitman arm; have seen that happen. is out put shaft "moving up/ down as wheel is turned =worn bronze bushing leading to out put shaft seal leakage,
  13. not a matter of "sounding dumb". it more of being intelligent enough to what to expand your knowledge
  14. I can't use them ; have 3 of my own . you can almost guarantee with a little fluff and buff those will run way longer then todays junk. you can probably find the "made in U S A " on them also. not todays stuff
  15. what kind of comment is """it's not super exciting "" !! only thing more exciting is hearing those engines run.. #2 = I need to know your paying hourly rate. I know I'm alot slower now but working in a clean shop building engines '' I'm in. LOL
  16. bet not many remember when sears sold craftsman tools that WERE MADE IN USA!! and the return policy was= broken ; bring it back for complete replacement of entire tool.. then it became made in japan with warranty replace being a rebuild kit for ratches, sockets not worth the time or gas to go for replacing.
  17. those are actually 2 parts of a three-piece tool set. there is also a heavy duty pair of vice grips which hold the long handle punch when the BFH misses the punch. LOL
  18. wide world of sports ;one heck of good show. back then there were reasons for watching TV. as a senior when the R I P for ones of days gone by shows up brings to mind those talented people forgotten in todays world. with the cold weather here, have gotten to watching reruns of western show of days gone by in black and white,
  19. another sign of changing times. back in the "good days" MOST celebrities of the sports world - racing/ baseball/football etc were human beings that appreciated the fans whom put them in the spot light. unlike todays multi million dollar stars having I'm better then you attitude.
  20. never thought it a good idea to use ANY product to it's maximum capacity . lifting a loaded truck wouldn't think of using a 10 ton jack to max; bring out the 20 ton. most well know brands have a "lower quality" division. after -- yrs of pushing wrenches, rule of thumb now is :: how am I going to get hurt doing this!! use over rated tools/ equipment lowers the hurt ratio.
  21. have bought number of items from H F ; also consider the quality of any product from all manufactures 30 yrs ago VS todays quality has changed considerably.
  22. unique the spring pin shackle set up. I have/had similar setup on liner hold downs used for wet sleeve DD . 3 flat washer brazed together looked like rear view of maxi transmission counter shafts. one bolt the washers held two liners down. relooking at picture two -thought that was a liner tool not a liner with rod welded in middle. are those liners that short now or angle of picture. "new "liners don't go full length of cyl anymore ??? changing times.
  23. now the big question and challenge :: what gets built first ==house or garage ??? understanding mate makes the decision so much easier; not many of those around based on experience, LOL brockway always had a nice style truck (before the mack cab )
  24. should be able to find tires/rims having same bearing to fit the hand truck axle. economical way to have great hand truck
  25. have taken the axle cut it in center = install a piece of proper dia pipe then reweld. gives you room to slide axle side ways for removal. number of places sell semi/pneumatic wider tires . company I worked for had many hand trucks being thrown away. I took a few and modified. tubeless with the green tire flat repair stuff works.
