  1. I've seen their units on the highway ;; not that one. DMM's were "new" to the work force when I left Mack. places like O&G / Hi HO were just starting to take delivery. of all the Mack iron I set up/ delivered ;; never drove the front discharge Mack mixer .
  2. but my TELEPHONE didn't beep to say the little water can is on in my car dash. "I saw the little water can on the dash = didn't know it was important". interrupt a phone text while driving !! unheard of. self driving vehicles may be safer for youngsters.. I thought the self driver was checking stuff. !! sorry kids .
  3. little "fluff and buff "; paint a dinosaur face on boom the kids would have a great time looking at it
  4. it also could just be the angle first picture was taken. this side view isn't looking as off set. no matter what angle ; it's amazing work of art.
  5. whether it was cattle or hogs , the butchering was part of farmer life. couple hr project never . day started out by 4 am to start the kettle boiling for hogs. being younger at the time it was usually my assignment to do the hack saw part. 6-700 lb hog was a long way from nose to tail; and it better be cut right on center;; the oldies were watching. best part was from the shot fired to meat on table we never lost sight of meat. 1/4 sections AFTER hanging in cooler were brought to a butcher having his garage set up with all the proper clean machinery. cut as we requested and wrapper all. we double wrapped after. and the meat did taste different
  6. hopefully more pictures of the retriever are posted. the rear boom assy looks more then massive.
  7. based on the wrecker is local , my bet is the Portland is Portland .CT.
  8. todays challenge would be to find someone that ==! knows how to check it:: 2= can figure out how to open the hood ;not the trunk; 3= doesn't say " I wait till the cute little water can shows up on the dash. or I hear a funny noise
  9. it's defiantly a TOTALLY different world. i've seen triaxle dumps going for 300 plus , but they have all the "show stuff" = all the lights , fancy wheels etc. a basic unit ??? but when an engine is 30K, turbo 3 K ;;;; glad I'm out . I'd have to double the heart meds. years back rebuilding a set of Mack rears , " had $2600.oo in parts which I sweated out hoping to get paid. 2600 today might buy some bearings.. PAY ATTENTION EVERYONE lets NOT go off topic. 😄
  10. noticed before the Holidays a straight truck parked in the lot of tractor supply with big sign and a line of people buying steaks. couldn't possibly have to do with TS selling grills !! miss the days of having my Grandparents farm and raising my own, figured the total cost for one beefer from raising to butcher/table ;; $.25 (twenty five cents ) a pound. don't do a lot of beef and burgers much now ; only due to work less and holding off the pounds gets much harder with age.
  11. still a beautiful comparison photo. still looks to be a lot of rear over hang on the '73 , almost as though a tag axle is missing.
  12. call it grandpa and grandson Macks . had to go grab my heart pills after reading 300K. that's insane (I guess). don't repeat this LOL : Matt Yours is better . the B-73 may have taken time and $$ to look as it does in the picture. but reality is the 73 was worth it. the "plastic Mack " == time will tell. jus sayin.
  13. no matter what the situation , sad part is some one always ruins what could be a positive for others.
  14. If the "young kids " can show me a positive reason for not staying in the past , I'll advance to modern times . as of todays world the past even with it's ups and downs was a better place. mentally I'll stay there ; if I can remember it. LOL
  15. any positive news on the Mack models yet ??
  16. I wouldn't use those harsh words of "I'm a professional trash picker " ; todays world Your a professional repurposer. recycle center in town has a big sign -NO scavenging . tempted to sit outside gate to check good stuff being thrown away. watched what seemed to be a near new mower deck flipped off pick up bed. still had shine and old gent throwing it away couldn't lift it from truck.
  17. interesting to read last two post = "ole reliable" = sweet running. possibly due to simple technology was used to built work trucks in the day. short version == got a phone call yesterday while CT was having heavy rain. driver says his '17 KW triaxle dump had a slight problem. he went to raise passenger window = the door locks started cycling but the window wouldn't work; same for drivers door. I said used the hand crank !- duh there isn't one. there is a module in the door. door apart , raise window by hand .unplug module.. point is "new" junk NOT reliable anymore.
  18. tag sales used to be the place for good stuff. now it's where you see people with their phones taking pictures of stuff for resale. couple of good Thrift stores here for odd stuff. did see a book by Lou Kroeck = building model trucks: there once. didn't know it was a $250.oo-300.oo book . I had one which I gave away yrs ago. a very good friend and truck co owner (Dom Moffo ) who has passed away had a number of buildings on his property. I see a for sale sign there now. unless the vultures have cleaned it out those buildings and trailers may hold parts=books galore .
  19. I posted a couple of auctions I found on auctionzip of Macks .one was on 10/23 . a few real nice pictures of Mack M-65? loaded on trailer. one auction had to men next to a nice H model. auctionzip put Mack truck in search.
  20. agree with you Jojo, don't know of a book specific to an entire truck front to back ;; not counting the drivers manual (handbook ) which is (was) in each new vehicle. and that was only a basic what switch does what etc. once again it comes down to = darn I watched management throw that stuff away. a lot of books ; parts and service.
  21. not to go off topic (ME??) , but speaking of the ATCA chapter group ; by chance is Doug Allen a member. reason for asking is I worked with Doug back in the waterbury Mack days. haven't heard or seen him in many yrs. last I knew He lived in woodbury , had a B-81 (and other stuff). he is one smart mechanic and great personality person. believe He left mack - went to work at O&G from where he retired . should You know and see him tell him Dave Popowski was asking about him. Thank You.
  22. had a comment for that post ;; can't remember what it was !LOL . aw sh-t I'm getting old and senile tooo 😨
  23. the truck is more then deserving of the thumbs up . sad situation around here is young generation have their nose in cell phones =even the ones driving; don't notice , as was written all the large car visor blocking windows "drivers" are better then everyone else. sorta leaves the senior citizens that know and appreciate a work of art; and if they are on the road driving , they are afraid to look any where but straight . 😄 it was raining in CT today = hope the B73 didn't go out in the rain to Bethlehem today. 🤣
  24. this R700 :V8 topic sure has the interest for me .. back then I delivered a brand new R-700 (V-8) to a construction co in this town (watertown,CT ). doubt the co like many aren't around any more . Watertown construction ??; not dayton construction= they are still around.
