  1. right on; that's the bolts I was referring to. roll-up door repair; old age I couldn't remember where they were used. LOL
  2. now that the deck is having a number of small shorter pieces; the self tapping screw would be the way to go. large head bolts would look awkward since there will be so many fasteners. tongue and groove the pieces (heck of a lot of work) would eliminate some fasteners . at this point with boards cut and looking excellent T&G not likely. difficult to see ; even with enlarged picture , did you eliminate the chain / binder holders in front? winch underside with cable coming through rollers ?
  3. NO- bolts I'm talking of have a larger diameter head which is thinner. tightening the bolts which have the flat washer against the steel channel NOT under bolt head go close to flush with top deck boards.
  4. box truck carriage bolts fine (they are inside not exposed to elements.) that flat bed I would go the route of floor decking bolts 1/4 in which have the 3/4- 1 in flathead and flat washers / nylon nuts. few more $$ but well worth it ( my thoughts )
  5. only thing on top of my head is a bald spot.
  6. think this is one of those topics I wish I didn't read (sorta). $1000/oo for studs / nuts obsolete !!!! who would have known back then (way back ) things would be as they are. how much stuff could a person save and why . could see me walking out of Mack end of the day with my pockets full of engine head nuts because 50 + yrs later we won't be able to find them. be nuts for taking old nuts. don't think ALL parts needed for an entire engine rebuild back then were a 1K.
  7. another benefit of "days of ole" ;; manufacturers used same parts for different models. cheaper for everyone . the A windows may have been same as E's
  8. my '49 EE also the '49 EF had one piece windshield as in the picture
  9. OK ; we'll let it go this time ::but don't let it happen again LMAO. these "youngsters "on here can't be misinformed by teachers such as yourself . LOL
  10. any idea of possible first show the B-73 will make ? I haven't been able to make many or follow show schedule this yr. figure most will be ending for '23 schedule.
  11. come on Jojo ;;; is this a test for us ole folk 🤣😂. off set cab ; air cleaner inside hood passenger side !!!!!! a DM-600(SX) for sure
  12. can't comment on the truck due to no words can accurately describe it .work of art. did notice one thing when enlarging the picture to see the details++ the puppy in right side upstairs window looks like he wanted to be in picture !LOL
  13. the stripe on the hood is familiar :: could it be a G&L construction ???? don't know if like many companies in this over-taxed state , G&L still in business= or their truck run by someone else.
  14. I would check power to and from brake light switch
  15. speaking of Diamond T =NOT to go off topic BUT trucking through CT on I- 84 mid afternoon was an east bound Diamond T (green ) with some type of extended sleeper on back. too much traffic didn't get best look at it. known to anyone on here, NOT Matt Pfahl B model.
  16. does the MH have the extension on top of transmission to bring linkage out to driver side similar to the F models ?? '86 is tooo new for me to know. if so , two hands and lot of strength will bend/ break the top linkage going into the transmission rail selector. with ENGINE OFF I would jack up one wheel allowing drive train to be movable , then check shift lever for operation in all gears . easier with cab over .
  17. it will take time to "learn" the ole girl. if you are at walking speed coming to the corner with down shifting , possibly the main is low enough just shift up or down on the aux stick. I drove (part-time) a DM 800 with quad. there was one road having a short / steep hill which I couldn't get the right combo of gears for the longest time. fast as I could road up to it ;loaded quite heavy main lower/aux different spot = it took a long time.
  18. hose hanging down is an extension hose going to the throw out bearing for grease, depending on the maintenance schedule/ operation, i would take them off. history has found ; units with the hose and improper Maintenace program , the throw out bearing got sooo much grease(cause it's easy to get to) the grease spilled out to the clutch brake causing it to malfunction. if a "mechanic " had to reach up into bellhousing for greasing , less excess grease on clutch brake.
  19. wouldn't by chance know the third number in the B81 ? SX ?? . would distinguish verification of engine ; B-81SX/ B-813SX/ B-815(V-8 eng)it could have non-turbo cummins . going with idea it's a Mack with mack power, 250hp???
  20. for me this topic is a great addition to the forum. I know there are truck model sites ,this being on here keeps with the Mack as headliner. HD rain in CT ; spent time yesterday reading old post ; which surprisingly go back to 2013.
  21. it's obvious NOTHING is checked out before put to public. every day news shows more recalls; baby seats, cars (big recall numbers there) . for an old man like myself had to laugh at news other day. all the new 15 phones are burning peoples hands they are getting so hot. quality control is no longer there. technology moving tooo fast ;; have to get the CEO's their bonus checks. 30 gran for cummin/allison up grade is sick/sad. darn the entire truck didn't cost that much a few yrs back! OK quite a few yrs back.
  22. how do the controls operate when machine is OFF ? are they smooth or can you feel uneasy movement possibly attributed to pivot pins in linkage sticking ? I had a IH 260A ,neighbor had a case 580 ; can't recall lever set up on his. whether levers go directly into pump control or had pin connecting linkage. doubt the boom pins can be lacking grease and sticking. with a full bucket of material for weight , how does the operation seem?
  23. the statement " as deck extends the landing gear is slowly raised" doesn't mean the landing gear comes off the ground, by raising the landing gear ; hyd pressure in cylinders lowers allowing the deck to tilt .
  24. correct in operation ideas; study the pictures very closely (I have numerous times). the rear "landing gear" attaches to the bed /deck rails at 4 points =2 each side :: 2 on inside of rails ; two on outside. the landing gear is lowered first ; for stability also control of bed/deck tilt . gear down, extend deck; as deck extends the landing gear is slowly raised, thus allowing the deck to tilt at controlled rate. sure hope I'm right =will be in heap of doo doo with owner for miss instructions. LOL
  25. but then all law abiding citizens shouldn't have to hide from the law and I don't think a non- abiding individual would be that dumb to steal that color truck == so on the bright side (be sides the color) owning that greeny should be safe. just sayin.
