"does look good" is more then modest , to see it at a show would defiantly be 110 % positive. to be one of the many lucky ones on this forum to have watched this unit go from found in the woods to the "mona Lisa " of the trucking world === no words . mind boggling the end results . pin striping will be like a female Appling make up; you want it to be classy - not trashy. challenge will be , if you go gold leaf with all the red, don't want it to be considered a fire truck( NOT THAT THERE IS ANTY THING WRONG WITH FIRE TRUCKS !!). this work of art is in a class of it's own.
  2. the L something with exhaust through the hood may have been an LM =offset cab usually used for HD service (winch etc).
  3. have seen side dumps ; can't say I've ever seen a rotating dump. looks same as excavator turn table under dump body. municipality's and government contractors are always good at coming up with weird ideas.
  4. difficult to see in picture - must be a brown /wrap dash and dry air cleaner. more pictures always help== interior/ open hood engine pictures
  5. is there still a shift pattern on the dash .one stick or two?
  6. quick look at picture you have a DM600. tag on drivers door or right frame rail by steer tire will have model/serial number.
  7. picture up dates??? deck installed ; or work taken priority ?? one deck picture shows looks to be lever left front?? hyd control for slide ??? under side picture appears to have graded mesh in two front corners ?== spot for chains and binders replacing tool box under side ??
  8. push both buttons at same time gave you 4-way flashers. top button push released 4-ways. in front of top button was lighted indicators ==green left/right -red in middle.
  9. twin sticks on floor don't seem it is an auto.

  11. it IS the turn signal box. apparently the original on dash bit the dust and an updated signal stat was installed. fortunately they left the dash box signal switch for someone wanting originality. my grandson sent me this ad also. seems it stated auto transmission.

I'm probably out in left field on this one but with all the talk of generators/ alternators / rectifiers, grounds being a possible situation creator; I haven't seen a mention of :: did anyone check the batteries INDIVIDUALLY (load test ) ;;OR do a cell test (hydrometer ???) checking to see if a bad cell is causing a generator/alternator to over charge thinking system low ??? lets get this thing rectified soon for sake of a firetruck.
  13. memories of the fun days. we didn't pay to go to a gym. it was summer time in the hay fields. this must be the younger generation picture== only one bale at a time AND wearing gloves. for us it was two bales ; one in each hand (100lb each bale ) NO gloves and race across the field to beat the others to the stack. LOL
  14. with todays kit building , it's easier to buy a number of kits for parts needed for special builds. I still have the book from A I M (Jim Etter) of yrs back which allowed the builder to basically buy every part needed for special builds. cabs, rails, engines, trans ,wheels etc. all parts were either resin or pewter. todays kits aren't 10.00- $12.00 anymore . have bought a whole kit just for the fuel tanks or frames. I CAN - retired. I don't spend it the kids think it's theirs LOL.
  15. first gear did make a number of 1/25th scale trucks= Mack and others. the Red mack tractor 1/25 scale is detailed . mine had a couple of unfortunate "accidents" while being boxed during trip to TN and back to over tax CT. it's in need of shop repair and new parts ( front wheel etc).

  18. A R-700 can be built with todays models; take two R -600 kits and stretch the nose and frame. there is a superliner kit out there believe it is 1/32 scale. I have an R-700 actual hood (1/25th) scale in resin that has been waiting 40 + yrs to be built. engine (300+) for george stone constructions R -600 came from A I M ;jim etter many yrs ago. almost impossible to find anyone doing resin kits/parts . its all that computer built stuff. would be a major welcome for AMT to build "out of the norm stuff" for the truck builders. hopefully AMT stays with the "legend" built like a Mack. rails on the R's seem smaller and thinner.
  19. MAN HAVE YOU GOT MY VOTE ;;;YES. since the passing of Jim Etter (AIM ) yrs ago and now the sad passing of Dave Natale (A IT M) , no models resin or other to be found. sad to say the last few AMT models bought were very discouraging. I'm running out of B- LTL model parts.
  20. went by a class 8 flat deck picking up a car on rte 6 today ; was going to stop and check to see same as the B73. busy road couldn't safely stop. haven't seen a set up with rear "landing gear" for deck raise / lower.
  21. every thing looking excellent. have to admit , I'm confused with operation. earlier picture showed long slide piston having pivot on rear frame. which i would expect the piston stayed with truck frame. these pictures with body down on ground show no piston. of my many questions asked, you stated the rear guides are two inside and two outside;; where did the second frame rails disappear toooo????LOL . darn nice job. top deck boards will be flush mounted to outer rails ;;not having side rail lip >?? winch being mounted on front of bed topside or under mount??
  22. remember the steel fuel return lines and solid top caps . before the days of top mounted return lines; can't remember what vehicle engine was in during disassembly.
  23. Buda its not . the buda was an option back early '40's ; the 468 cu in model 6DT was offered in the conventional cab FP as an option. the blue paint is a give away.

THANK YOU for all the pictures Jojo. it's a total disappointment to me not making the trip. for someone who rarely gets sick , this time around It has whipped my ass. possible the covid crap. wife sick again and as usual it's my fault. she is on her way to walk in clinic. making the trip to NC would have been a win-win for me. see the show/ meet the BMT crew then go to Raliegh to spend time with my sister. possibly another time.
  25. memory serves correctly when timing was done by flywheel timing it was for injection pump timing / valves. front damper didn't have marks =no need for off set bolt pattern ( or i never paid attention), then more attention was put to not smashing a finger or two putting damper on. timing went to front damper then bolt pattern offset.
