  1. a masterpiece such as the B-73 should be on not only phone but Christmas cards or at LEAST a truck calendar . and the royalty rights might help the expenses of the build. a truck calendar with the B-73 and B42 side by side as was posted here would be the best December photo of a truck calendar.

  4. forgot to question :: do the '06's have the one gauge with dual needles =red/green ?????? I'm thinking old school two gauges not the modern "crap" gauges . have seen many dual needle gauges screw up. if you are the main driver knowing primary needle is off 15-20 on a positive side and relief valve isn't blowing off== I'd run it ; not a hazard.
  5. drained system with primary gauge showing 15-20 psi ;; did you tap gauge ; it should drop to 0. it does then build air back both systems should register same . primary jumps back to 15-20 off replace it. could be technical and put a good working gauge on primary tank it self to verify before buying parts . JUST REMEMBER TO DRAIN PRIMARY COMPLETELY BEFORE REMOVING ANY PLUGS
  6. a '79 RL600L on craigslist has a number of pictures.one of which gives half/a-s picture of bottom side looking at transmission (RR13) ; point is based on this conversation, the alum rails look to go full forward. flanges definitely thicker , can't see the rail thickness. long wheel base tractor asking price $12K.
  7. bouncing craigslist found a R-700 hood for sale . was on northwest OK; problem with craigs list is adds are posted from all states not just area you search. the hood states Denton Dallas. $850.oo OBO. definitely not brand new pictures show it needs work. just passing on found info.
  8. when you get the DM800 on the work bench ; should you find there are parts missing let me know. I try to be the "WATTS truck parts depot "in 1/25th scale ; LOL. might be relocating AGAIN ,doing what I can to slim down inventory. that's what I tell wife!! must have forgot to tell her there's an auction close by with a lot of models trucks and planes. of course I'm planning on bidding LOL

'06 way too new for me . based on being around for the dual system when first came out and what the brain can remember;; I would consider the gauge might be off. where does is rest if system completely drained?? governor wouldn't segregate between primary/ secondary. wouldn't think check valve .if newer systems feed primary first then secondary then entire system may be at 140 , cut off valve should discharge. I go with fault gauge first.
  10. can't get enlarged photo. I'll wager coffee and doughnut the fifth wheel may be set up same as a yard horse(jockey) with hyd fifth wheel raise lower. lowered the winch pulls rig up chassis over 5th and on to roller in front of 5th???? flat plate wouldn't need much clearance from 5th. could possibly have 5th pin on rig to lock into B83's 5th ;; never know the ingenuity of brilliant minds in the day.
  11. sounds like a good set of models. seems by memory the alum rails were 1/2or 9/16 with frame flanges at least 11/16/or 3/4 . thicker then steel .
  12. just proves the fact ;; never tooo old to learn . possibly why I wasn't aware of combo rails, also back in the day Mack westerns on the east coast were an extremely rare Dog. did prep for delivery a F-700 western having the 866 v-8 and alum rails = full front to back alum
  13. why would it be alum from cab back ? don't recall combo rails. alum (westerns) were alum front to back 🙄. maybe changes came after the '70's
  14. notice the three stick Mack set up which was discussed in another post. definitely an oil field rig with long wheel base and rear roller/winch. lot of polished alum; parade ready.
  15. thanks, I remember seeing that unit earlier post. that's the R/R truck used on tracks or something. swivel dump.
  16. for safety sake ; first one ==I would find a mechanic knowing the job put up some $$$; then pay very close attention to how it's done while being an assistant. too many things can go wrong by your self doing first time project. It was middle of night doing clutch on R with twelve speed ; start to rock and sway transmission to install= transmission slipped off jack ( a real truck jack ) and pinned me between air tanks and transmission. no one else there and NOT my first clutch job. the 12 is very heavy when trying to lift/ move it.
  17. topic heading calls it a T/A dump. another one where pictures help make accurate assessment. could be short wheel base tractor converted to dump having a T/A shoved under it , or number of other configurations. unless it's a fairly long unit , might not have room to move transmission out of the way. hey day way back when tag axles were installed on ten-wheeler for new weight laws. did a clutch job on a converted ten to tri ;took 8 hrs to completely remove tag axle for transmission access and removal.
  18. of course it's "original "no one else has one . that makes it an original piece which looks fantastic.
  19. just hope no one tells the Washington idiot there ARE other planets out there ' why expedite the screwing up of the rest of the planets. other planet beings have to be more intelligent than this place : 1= they have intelligent to stop by here ;;;2- they have the brain power to stop by and leave. no one seems to be paying attention to the amount of rockets fired off on a regular bases around here lately .
  20. according to the news today , box stores will be eliminating the self check outs in many places . seems the greed for more profit and less employees back fired . $$$ losses are greater then expected. went into a shoe store this evening (before jack daniels showed up ) opened a box =the only one in my size and wide foot. a pair of very worn shoes inside. brought to the two young girls at counter and showed them = response "oh that happens a lot. such a different world .
  21. reality it would be easier to stretch a frame then a 600 to 700 hood. not like your stretching couple of feet. difference between a 6 and 7 is inches . reenforcing isn't the challenge, the stress on that extension is the issue. a cab which "floats" constantly pressures the extension. searching for a 700 hood from this observation point makes more sense .. don't remember the original post. send the hood to mowerman ;; LOL now there is an experienced hood man for fiberglass work;;; he can redo it . (on the spot now) Bob .🤣 jack daniels told me to say it . LOL

  23. but we ALL know You can do it. not to be a party pooper but the DM 800 was 30+ yrs ago. sorry had to say it. side note ; my DM-800 1/25th scale was from first issue mid/late '70's ;; actually two - one a mixer (as shown on profile) and a DM-800 stretched to fit wrecker body ;; neither of which are completed 40+yrs later.😱
  24. "79 DM with Mack clutch : brain cells trying to focus = that would be a push clutch ; not pull (Spicer/Eaton) ?? cable linkage replaced mechanical rod linkage by '79 ?? clutch brake ? lower counter shaft not on pilot shaft . ??
  25. never gave thought to door removal , guess when your younger the body has more flex to it . that's where the phrase "do now pay later "comes in . I made up a cradle bracket to mount on the transmission jack . made life safer when removing the top heavy tri shaft units. 1 1/2 channel iron welded together went 1/2 way up sides . sure hope first time ever the jobs NOT being done alone; there is a helper. that's a lot of very heavy parts to man handle. like a brake job when younger ++ "heck I can lift those drums " ! that flywheel isn't "heavy" when it's the first one . 50 yrs and many flywheels later. ???? unless the plan is to do many clutches ; I would attempt to borrow/ rent needed tools . rear seal installer can't be cheap nor a GOOD jack. doing a Mack first is also a challenge ; unlike "other brands" having rear mounts on the bell housing making life easier .
