  1. only one stick needs to be neutral so unit doesn't attempt take off when clutch released. also one in gear is easier for movement after pto needed.
  2. time killing on craigslist under mack truck title ; appears to be a B-model Mack out west area having a 3 stick combo. supposably earliest (first ?) B made. bounced so many states don't remember which one . went to far side of country due to fact same posts are in every area close by.
  3. I would be in agreement the PTO was changed over to rear mount. dash instructions seem to refer to side mount. as with older PTO's the pto speed is determined by engine rpm's. truck is used by others , might want to cover or replace instructions with proper matching one.
  4. pay attention to the part that reads ; may contain up to 3% retained water! they fill it with water to up the weight and price.???? "pure turkey ingredient?
  5. light weight highway hauling.????
  6. kinda vague question if I say so myself. no offence but same as asking "what kinda mustard do I put on a hot dog ! 67R was correct in asking "what will it be used for ?" too many variations of gears/ ratios . possible need a rear mount constant power verses side mount .
  7. the change over from screw plugs to drive in was more a manufacturing change. more then likely it was a cost cutting change, swore at many screw plugs when installing block heaters, some of which (with magnet close by ) had to be drilled in half to remove. drive in made life easier ; I didn't have much faith in the block heater style when installed in drive in port. I left Mack in summer of '75 the drive in plugs had been showing up before that.
  8. don't know of a more accurate precise written history of a vehicle over such long time period ;; it's total life. amazing. THANK YOU
  9. a great picture would be the tonka loader on back of Mack with tie down straps LOL
  10. dash picture woke up some dormant brain cells , now i'm at a loss. the round valve above RPM gauge = is that dry road/ wet road valve? been so long ago. usually the dry/slippery is a toggle like TTP valve lower dash. enlarged the picture (miracle in itself) still can't read it. remember seeing/ working on old iron having the valve can't remember what is for.
  11. all the pictures are excellent ; most important part of the first picture isn't the lighting but you are so fortunate to have a member of the younger generation having a strong interest in keeping history alive in the mechanical world.
  12. seems the thrill of stealing vehicles has taken a new real low.
  13. same crap took place in CT couple weeks ago. main road (rte34 ) was closed for hrs due to a car running a red light put; a truck driver in hospital. unfortunate/unnecessary results were a 14 yr old died. start to feel bad for 14 till facts came out. the 14 yr old was a passenger in a STOLEN BMW at 2-3 in the morning, the driver of the stolen BMW was seen getting into another vehicle and leaving the scene .
  14. Brockway was also using the 903 Cummins in the long nose.
  15. guess there is a good that your so far away with your cooker ;;LOL the 40-50 ducks in my back yard pond are my "pets" now LOL . those quakers have more common sense then the one I married . now they swim over to me in the am/ mid-day/ evening for feed time. 40 lbs food a week. me my glass of Kentucky coffee whiskey and my ducks . pure heaven 🦆🦆🦆🦆 nice looking cooking set up though. LMAO
  16. 100% in agreement with Matt's post. EARLY production gas engines didn't have a need for much in the electrical dept. two headlights ONE tail light . no usb ports, fm radios . 6 volt battery enough to start truck. can't remember tooo many 6 volt units at Mack by late 60's. even series /parallel switches weren't common in many later trucks. did change the switches on the older trucks .
  17. Saw the two units thurs 691 exit 1 ramp to I-84 west. rear sharp ; clean and polished . the white hood insert makes them stand out .
  18. might sound comical ;NOT meant to be ;;;but when pressure testing injectors checking for spray pattern etc ;;;DO NOT PUT fingers near spray ' those pressures with inject the fuel into your skin. many will be saying " who would be that stupid ". yes it did/does happen when someone (first timer ) thinks that's neat , wonder what it feels like. keep in mind these statements are based on yrs back when injector testing did not have all the safety guards or what ever todays testers have. AND ALSO watching the patterns DO NOT FOR GET THE SAFTY GOGGLES.
  19. intake manifold has/had a 1/8th pipe plug to which puff limiter threaded on directly.
  20. what is this phone book you speak of ; why does it have yellow pages not white. trying to confuse the "younger folk" .LOL . another sad part of todays world. not only many never heard of a phone book , many (younger) didn't know homes used to have a telephone with phone book. got a phone call this am from friend still running his own truck, point is he called my cell phone which lost service when I moved from certain spot in house. had to call him back with house phone. he says not many have house phones any more. at least house phone works 90% of the time.
  21. tjc think jojo is under the impression you are joking. I know the walnut shells are used a lot. never heard of the baking soda . would the two be used separate or together?? that would be a lot of baking soda . fine grit blast sand maybe depending how bad pots are. and size /pressure of blaster.
  22. your not alone on the specific description only to get page after page of sh-t. other challenge is; seems never find what your looking for but the countless ads that follow related to those pages of sh=t show up for ever
  23. guess if it works 🤣. question is ::: would it be registered as a car or construction equipment ?LOL
  24. based on your detailed "pipe dream" hopes , a RV toy hauler would give you sleeping quarters ,place to put the acquired stuff. etc. if you bought a big rig; can't drive it home ;LOL have to freight it back. after retirement my pipe dream hope was buying a class A RV go see the country = that's before the covid crap. wife didn't want the class A idea: settled for buying a diesel pick up expecting to buy a tow RV. short version = didn't get to the RV. sold the diesel and bought a new jeep. nor did I get to cross country see the U S A
  25. so the "test hole"was on scrap piece which was fasten to bench? is the dash hole being drilled still in the truck which may flex to much? no dremel with emory or grinding bit ? to widen that small dia.
