  1. I'd say you found what I was attempting to describe, couldn't say if the one in NY has a rear windshield set up as in picture. can't see entire truck way it is parked backed in . nose on NY firetruck may look longer due to chrome nose not that shinny . faded red paint and slight rusty nose chrome blend together more. still same style truck.
  2. looks like I have to take notes on this topic=never delt with a waste gate .hope there are pictures.
  3. unfortunately and regrettably I'm not a Veteran. back window of my vehicle has 3 large stickers= NEVER FORGET WHAT OUR VETERANS HAVE DONE FOR THIS COUNTRY = ALL GAVE SOME ; SOME GAVE ALL. the hat in profile picture says ;;; TO ALL VETERANS THANK YOU. I stopped wearing it due to people thinking I was a vet. won't take credit for something that more then earned. I showed my jeep to a Veteran at the show = tears came to his eyes. + THANK YOU TO ALL VETERANS
  4. won't do you any good now , one was laying in a pile of junk at a farm i help out at ,took pictures of it while back posted them on here= no response. went back month ago knowing fill was being dump over the bank; was going to use bucket loader to put trans out of harms way!! it was gone . asked owner== "it's either buried or scrapped ;; dam sam . should have (i know should have list is endless); taken it when I first saw it. know it was alum= back section was new.
  5. SADLY THIS IS NOT THE COUNTRY SO MANY BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR. 🎖️🏅
  6. I'd say your doing nothing wrong. combo of -1 - gravel surface =2- backing out your driveway , drive train is pulling the truck Not pushing . 3= tire tread possibly not helping++ street tread or bar/gripper tread (on dump). 4= driveway flat or slight incline adding to hop??
  7. update:: based on what pictures I could internet find the fire truck is 1953=1955 GMC 630 open top . one picture dated 3 yrs ago for a truck very similar in NY might be the one i saw. faded red with dept name on hood.
  8. in the days before GPS and cell phones , I had the relief driver spot. doing the up state NY run with a LTL9000 twin screw sleeper and 45 ft reefer . it was days of maps and written directions. middle of the night all going well till directions say left turn; ok we can do it. left turn to see a sign says 10 ft over pass ahead.!! 12.6 trailer. now I know the driver who does the route regular; he wouldnt send me wrong. back out to main road . headlites coming towards me ; old pick up stopped - old timer says : lost ?. told him where I was headed. says :follow me. dirt roads not wide enough for two to pass never mind a T/T. dozens of deer standing next to road . come to a WOODEN bridge !! he drove across ; stopped and waited. do I cross or not ; fast and hope or slow and sink. maybe ft on each side to spare. over i drove with the boards creaking ;not steel or concrete . made it. thanked him and continued the route. spoke to the driver following week . says "what the F--k bill !! he laughs and says "oh; the 10 ft sign is only for the arch on ends ; I stay in the center 13 ft. if I could see the bridge or it was day light ; would have been different. yep the fun days.
  9. at the show saturday there was a hottie (more then one) worth noting. I tried to snap a picture but it was obvious a jealous boyfriend/ husband was like a hawk watching the chicks. LOL even tried to aim camera in her direction ; he saw it and put his hand on her ass as if saying it's mine !! . notice the smile on mowerman in the picture of us. he knew just who to ask to take the picture!! LMAO. yep she was a knock out.
  10. i don't have much accurate info but want to pass this on. going to the brockway show saturday from CT =went I-84 to 17 W. between mile marker 280 -279 (exit 87 ?) there is an open top long nose GMC fire truck parked with four sale sign. will try the interenet for idea of age etc. has 4-5 ,, 2in ? wide chrome radiator bars. came up quick on right side going west = heading back east i rmembered it ;; couldn't u-turn and stop for pictures or info. it is definitely different or i would post this. i know there are some fire truck buffs on here. just trying to pass on info.
  11. I was standing in the museum parking lot as trucks were leaving for parade.. using my CAMERA to take pictures;; challenge now to figure how to post some here. i've posted pictures here before with the DMM pictures= old age factor kicking in (memory failure ). Brocky were You able to make it:: Bob(mowerman ) said you weren't sure .
  12. I'm movin to where you live!! LOL
  13. I wouldn't go as far to say =your doing something wrong ! gauges you have not rated for that pressure?? = never heard of such a thing ;;; but never know today's world.
  14. heck if I knew that i could have driven to JFK and picked you up. could have stayed here ==wife is a great cook and likes cooking for someone who appreciates food (I Don't care one way or other about food)LOL
  15. years back (many) ; texaco oil used to run long nose GMC's with 318's. living on a lake next to major road -rte34 at night could hear the DD screaming up the long hill . like the songs of the '60's : the DD 's were such great music.
  16. so you really don't know history of the donor compressor. by chance did you check air tanks from donor ? do you have access of the donor for other parts or is it gone ?
  17. is the compressor on it now from original engine or was on donor engine from start? with the system COMPLETLY drained down, open all tank drains overnight . some cases larger drain if you remove drains completely from tanks, take off the feedline from compressor at the tank end. secure the end so it doesn't go whipping and hurt some one ;; and start engine . see how much crap comes out .
  18. right on with the picture ;;; NOW the brain cells are scrambling to remember the splitter set up. can remember the day at Mack , working on one in the bay having a shifting problem. I was young ; knew nothing of the operation of transmission. the splitter was not on lever . I was ticked off and kept slamming the splitter. foreman heard the noise and was pi--ssed. can't remember it was on dash or doghouse. cab was up
  19. nice flat bed ; what is the chassis , can't tell by picture nose half missing.
  20. cracker box have a Detroit with roadranger RTO 9513 ????
  21. think you got it right ;;; cracker box sounds familiar . know it was titled to one of the irons of the day ;;; the GMC must be the one,
  22. did head gaskets on an ole white conventional yrs ago that had the slanted cummins . what a pain - in- ass. as stated it was slanted to fit half under fire wall and in to cab with dog house. corner studs 325 lbs torque ? no room to put 3/4 dr torque wrench . bad enough putting heads under cab with flat engine!! two of us holding head off gasket so not destroy it going under slanted
  23. back in '69-70's for 68K you could have bought a couple of Macks . and the dealer filled the fuel tanks . I know it was my job to take a new truck down for fuel. most new ones going to a rental fleet only got 10 gals.
  24. see the manifold type now, forgot the oval inlet style. it works that's what counts
  25. bought what was left of my Grandparents farm with hopes of keeping it going back some yrs ago. 3+acres house, barn and outbuildings = 40K. my 2021 jeep gladiator Mojave (ordered and decked out ) 64K . only reason for purchase of jeep was dealer on trade gave me just under what I paid for a 2017 GMC 2500 diesel after I had it for 4 yrs and put 40 K miles on it = back and forth from CT to TN.
