  1. agree with you Jojo, don't know of a book specific to an entire truck front to back ;; not counting the drivers manual (handbook ) which is (was) in each new vehicle. and that was only a basic what switch does what etc. once again it comes down to = darn I watched management throw that stuff away. a lot of books ; parts and service.
  2. not to go off topic (ME??) , but speaking of the ATCA chapter group ; by chance is Doug Allen a member. reason for asking is I worked with Doug back in the waterbury Mack days. haven't heard or seen him in many yrs. last I knew He lived in woodbury , had a B-81 (and other stuff). he is one smart mechanic and great personality person. believe He left mack - went to work at O&G from where he retired . should You know and see him tell him Dave Popowski was asking about him. Thank You.
  3. had a comment for that post ;; can't remember what it was !LOL . aw sh-t I'm getting old and senile tooo 😨
  4. the truck is more then deserving of the thumbs up . sad situation around here is young generation have their nose in cell phones =even the ones driving; don't notice , as was written all the large car visor blocking windows "drivers" are better then everyone else. sorta leaves the senior citizens that know and appreciate a work of art; and if they are on the road driving , they are afraid to look any where but straight . 😄 it was raining in CT today = hope the B73 didn't go out in the rain to Bethlehem today. 🤣
  5. this R700 :V8 topic sure has the interest for me .. back then I delivered a brand new R-700 (V-8) to a construction co in this town (watertown,CT ). doubt the co like many aren't around any more . Watertown construction ??; not dayton construction= they are still around.
  6. I worked Mack trucks '69--'75 ; the 866/// 375 was around before I left. shift defiantly looks to be 12 speed wouldn't be hooked to 865 maxi.
  7. have to agree on the thermodyne ; can't remember them being the light blue. course that's NOT the only thing I can't seem to remember lately
  8. back in the frame drilling days , carbide drill bits ($$$$} worked best. using a lot of lubricate to keep them cool. excessive heat the frame rails became close to impossible to drill.
  9. don't know if I would consider 466k miles totally relative to the steering box wear . could do a million mile cross country in a straight line very little turning at same time a unit running local or quarry type work steers more. if all checks ok from steering wheel to box ; wear defiantly in box ; I would attempt fluid change - whether new fluid of same viscosity or up the fluid to different type. auto transmission fluid to hyd or vise versa.
  10. nothing to do with me; just passing on info. besides BMT only place I go is auctionzip. interesting to see peoples junk . put in Mack trucks and two interesting auctions came up. one is past , but has old pictures of Macks : back in the day of decked Macks going for delivery. glider kits etc . -auction was 10/23/23- in springtown ,PA .title is 2 estate vehicles. another coming up 11-4 -mark keller auctioneer. 135 south 5th st , newport , PA . has a '46 EE/EF going up for sale. only two pictures , looks like a parts unit-- parts is parts. I don't know how to do this cut/ paste picture computer stuff.
  11. possibly the only reason you won't see the 675/676 engines in another ten years is because the government "stepped in' to say junk all those polluting engines that don't have enough electronics on them. there's a lot of meaning behind the phrase " BUILT LIKE A MACK " if it works the government will screw it up.
  12. have to ask :::: how far did you go with the shed strapped to the trailer on what looks to be some strong 2x6's LOL gettin scared here Jojo ;; there is the forum of "YOU MIGHT BE A RED NECK IF"" !!!LMAO. 🤣🤣
  13. didn't think of the branded idea ; much better classic fit for that unit then paint.
  14. 1038 only 37 made before that one !! the possibilities it has . engine parts could be a major draw back. 864
  15. that would be an excellent acquisition for me since I'm always in the dog house around HERe . with a 10x7 I'd be in the condo house LOL
  16. only thing missing would have been full size Mack emblem painted on the boards BEFORE clear coat!! LOL
  17. 209 back then had a "nick name" ;;not a good one either ;;; darn can't remember it .ho chi min trail ????
  18. now you have to go and buy a full length rug to put down in front of and on the bed so as to eliminate any dirty tire marks on it. LOL darn nice looking unit. seeing in person day is what I'm looking forward to.
  19. similar story here except my Father left us in "97. mother stayed till 2019. brother and two sisters and I sitting in the nursing home all thinking :ok her mind is gone" mom looked up at me and says "why there you are you SOB " we never got along, I says - see she hasn't lost all of her mind !. few weeks later she left.
  20. Sorry for Your loss. yr ago I was in Maine for a friends Sons funeral. up until yesterday (mass shooting ) Maine was always a positive for me. during the funeral procession which was a long drive from Church to cemetery cars coming in opposing lane of two lane road actually pulled over and stopped out of respect. not just one car ; all of them. don't see that around here.
  21. sadly the funeral topic seems to be more frequent. Saturday was suppose to be at daughters house for her sons birthday; now it will be at a funeral for one of the Church's partitioners. He was highly involved in Church activities ; good person. I have Dr appointment friday am with hopes I can be "cleared" to drive to NC : won't make the show but see my sister and possibly other BMT members.
  22. I'm going with it's an RD ? hood line straight with drivers door; cab looks to be full size R cab though
  23. glad I'm not the only one having that question. past them other day. thought it was private company till I saw emblems on doors. all fancy like show trucks.
  24. possible to find out model of box ? sheppard/ ross ? '90 too new for me to correctly answer. in the day the boxes had a 3/4? lock nut on side adjuster had screw driver slot . big sheppard boxes had adjusters top and bottom but they were for pressure relief settings.non-adjusting power steering boxes ON occasion would improve with changing filter and fluid.
  25. that must be the I-95 cluster being done. glad I don't run 95 any more.
