    excellent photos; but I have to ask= the B-81 has guide poles on front steer axle which look to be part of a back up bell '??? purpose is ??

    also once it has a body on it , driveshaft won't be as noticeable.

    you can always take some masking tape and spiral the driveshaft ; paint it white like a barber shop pole. then ask the UPS driver his opinion. LOL . I saw the B-42 at the Brooklyn show; you weren't around . You left when I was spending money at the flea market section. any ideas/hopes for the B-73 first show appearance??

    it's same as cake Jojo; some are easy to cut ; some aren't. wait till you get on the old age side of the coin= you forget what you learned and haven't learned the new stuff being discussed. I'm going by top mount Mack -not front load. off brand would be front mount in my day. it's called "built like a Mack " for a reason back then.

    with the help of a small excavator , the brook that runs through the yard we rent now has a swimming hole . couple of trees cut down for sun light to heat the water. quite/ very private. even have a cut off branch that works as a clothes hanger for swimming trunks. LOL

    since this is a "new"truck 2004 want to make sure I'm on same page. this rear comes out top as ole school or is it a front removal ?? reading comments of long guide studs which to me indicates front removal not top. do remember (sorta) taking rear tires off to lower rear to ground for carrier removal . seems it was a dump also.

    have to consider it's the rear/rear in question; not a lot of room to work even with body all the way up. skid steer with fork extension be the way to go; situation is that would require at least two people so operator stays in machine.

    If you have a metal scrap yard near by a couple long pieces of 4 in channel iron might be cheaper then plywood to build a track for the floor crane. iron will also take the weight. it's a method that has worked for me. "portable " plywood floors have been used many times in the past; if load was light or I was using as a creeper roll around floor. did take a quad out of a DM-600 using a car jack on plywood ; NOT recommended.

    not only were road speeds less in those days = the roads weren't that well made to achieve high speeds. considering all mechanical items were basically an " over-kill" in design back then such as 55 K lb rears. all the heavy torque arms and springs being replaced today with air bags , driveshafts possibly weren't a major factor. also other then west coast type units how many long wheel based trucks were there, if they were long . the shafts were made to suit.

    prices didn't go up on only the real ones ; went to a local truck show today ,found some vendors selling scale model truck and misc. picked up a couple boxes i could use in the scratch-building projects. I heard the prices and replied " I 'm not asking to buy the real truck just theses models!!! there were a few nice superliners == real ones. gotta get back on topic. LOL

    I bought a few items for the scratch built 60-70 ton beam trailer that were 3-D printed; on a PERSONAL OPINION ONLY I'm not impressed with 3-D. guess I'm tooo old = used to old school in all facet of mechanics whether real or 1/25 th scale. detail is excellent 3d . the make up of "stringers" challenges.

    is there enough tread left on the front drives to make it worth the effort to swap tires from front drive to rear drive ? attempt to see if tires are problem how are the rears wearing? pins/ bushings etc should show problem with rear drives also. being a tri-axle any consideration to pressure on lift axle- tooo much taking weight off first axle/not enough front drive scuffing

    if a starter spun "backwards" it would NOT throw out the bendix drive . high speed proper rotation causes the starter drive to throw out and engage flywheel, does not mean A starter can't be built to throw opposite rotation.

    guess it depends on what goes into the alcohol evaporator ;; why do you think its called ALCOHOL evaporator 😱 LOL

    weather calling for possible rain Sunday in CT. maybe it's a good thing 73 won't make Brooklyn ct show :: you don't want to get it wet LOL .looks better than museum quality. A+A+A+

    the AITM casting were much easier to work with then original resin castings from A I M (Jim Etter from PA ). I wasn't aware of Dave 's passing (AITM) till after there was an auction of his stuff. there is a site believe it's Big truck model builders ; I've never logged in to it. they might have knowledge of resin casting. think I bought last two B-73/75 L cab casting from Dave =AITM.

    now you guys have to stop this conversation!!! when I laugh this hard I start coughing uncontrollably;; YES i'm at that point now !!🤣🤣🤣 THANK YOU ever sooooo much JoJo for the picture of the rack ON the alum foil= that was a major debate at my younger daughters today when my "son-in-law had the chicken on alum foil while on the grill. showed the picture to know-it-all wife , first time ever she was speechless. LMAO
