  1. model truck building for over 60 + yrs;; no words . beyond nice , beautiful . A Mack - RS700L besides. where did you get the cab, etc parts?? I have a couple of R700 hoods in stock from A I M -- Jim Etter (has since passed away) from the '70's. Thanks For the pictures.
  2. this is the BEST NEWS of the week-end and before. GO BUY THOSE LOTTERY TICKETS!!! LOL almost didn't log on tonight !!! dam glad I did. no road call from CT to sloan , BC< hope the picture shows springs AFTER removal not as they were while installed
  3. another sign of a complicated world. anti-compounding /121 / dual air systems . lets not forget how the electronic "advances" changed mechanical world.
  4. the word =spring - challenged us ole people. pictured a coil type spring : this is same as saying :I do in marriage🤣; you put it off long as you can ! but you will be pulling transmission bet. guess no lottery tickets for you today
  5. darn ;; your right install after. memory failure =blame old age . those are high tensel steel eye protection required.
  6. the "had to tap in sentence " would make more sense with the anti springs there. the word tap to one could mean different to another. back to another path on the recovery road ; one disc installed backward ? problem now could be with the adjustments moved around soo much , a simple issue may have been complicated.
  7. now I remember the rattle springs!! THANKS FOR PICTURE thin pieces of steel which you would bend to fit between inter plate and flywheel. don't see how they would create present situation. I have installed and also left out on clutch projects.
  8. far as pilot bearing = old seized will give problems . you installed a new one . if for some reason it fell out ::1-clutch would still work;2=partial fall out the trans wouldn't have gone in;;3= the flywheel was bad if bearing collar was worn to point of not holding a bearing, which you would have noticed installing bearing. statement holding my attention is the "I had to tap plate in" !!!
  9. a far out try would be to having truck on blocks /jacks or whatever securely safe;; place in gear with engine running start giving "jabs " to clutch pedal working it up and down. purpose would be to work intermediate plate in pressure / release while spinning. long shot the spinning centrifugal force and weight will work the crooked dogs.
  10. not alone on that one Jojo . springs should be part of the clutch disc or the anti rattle springs refer to the wedges placed on clutch pressure plate hold down bolts. can't be the springs located on clutch brake housing ??? also remember it was stated fiber on clutch brake was worn on one side ; doesn't have alot to begin with add on the grease.
  11. construction co in CT =Beard constuction had decked out B/DM's dumps similar to pictures. chrome all over. waterbury Mack ordered two black beautys had me install all sorts of chrome; ticket was waterbury mack never asked Beard first. goal was to take account away from west haven Mack. Allan Beard told waterbury to stuff the trucks he didn't want them. YES heads did roll on that loss.
  12. PICTURES ARE EXCELLENT . thanks . makes me wish I made the venture down there. I would have been easy to spot; look for the ole guy with a cane ,LOL
  13. real nice looking unit. A+A+
  14. I couldn't make the 4 hr trip to Macungie PA truck show from CT so I can't take a road call trip to Slocan BC . sure would like to:: I can't stand when a mechanical issue "defeats "me.
  15. they won't fallout. if they move enough to straighten out when you loosen then they will move enough to go crooked again. they don't settle. no groove to set in just round hole through flywheel.
  16. purpose of the dogs is to hold the intermediate plate making it act as a flywheel face. if the plate didn't slide the first disc against the flywheel it self would never disengage. If the clutch pedal is pressed down (2x4) can you go under side with along screw driver and move the clutch disc. should be able to see them through one of the bellhousing holes. might have to turn flywheel (by hand/ bar etc0 to see disc
  17. 10=4 on the idea to replace clutch; that's called common sense. "how much is the doggy in the window" this case toooo much .LOL "I did kinda tap plate " 😱. DO NOT loosen the dogs from outside. if that works and doesn't create a bigger problem then my suggestion is to run right out and buy a lottery ticket. you would be one lucky individual. you don't have any way of holding the dogs . also if the dogs were removed during flywheel machining difficult to decide where to put them back one side worn more then other then put in opposite will put you where you are now. it's removal time
  18. restudy pictures ;; why does the forks seem to be covered in grease : not helping brake, also you stated disc looks worn ???? Have seen brake disc totally worn/ greased still might be a little grinding in and out of gear = but can disengage. back to flywheel dogs- sorry to ruin your day.
  19. It's obvious you have "Your sh-t together" mechanically ; has to be a simple situation. back to square one would put me to the flywheel dogs . new or reuse old dogs? as earlier stated , I use the center intermediate plate; should have been new with clutch assy making sure plate slides freely. hoping as you are to resolve this technical difficulty WITHOUT PULLING TRANS
  20. not dismissing motor mounts as to partial problem if sticks move excess. if this unit had strictly mechanical linkage ; meaning ALL steel rods/ clevis etc THEN motor mounts would have a greater impact on operation. having cable:: mounts not so much issue. did original unit have same clutch brake set up?not to be a bigger than am pain in ass BUT with clutch "engaged" what is clutch brake disc suppose to make contact with? should be nose cone of trans, all pictures sent helped out greatly can't see brake disc though
  21. 100 thanks for pictures ; big question is WHERE'S THE CLUTCH BRAKE? when you say "gave it quick adjust" = do you mean adjust from outside linkage? thats for clutch brake. the yellow tag on pressure plate (5/8th socket) is for adjusting clutch.
  22. another thought in reference to worn mounts== mounts worn bad enough to screw up engage/disengage :: the shift lever(levers) should rock back and forth or sideways if you prefer
  23. so flywheel WAS machined: leaving 1% outer edge due to machining capability OR because dogs were left in place ? after dogs removed/replaced = have used the center intermediate plate for realignment tool also. flywheel on floor install dogs , slide center plate back and forth till it slides easy after all dogs tighten . which brings about another question; were new dogs installed or reuse old . worn will break ba-ls as will new. new have to be perfect alignment or it will hang up.
  24. something still not right by sounds. can't be in traffic not being able disengage clutch and stop
  25. not doubting your mechanical ability - going by situation ; I still go with internal issue with clutch disc installed backwards not releasing tension . have installed new clutch assy that still needed adjusting on pressure plate ring. with clutch brake being adjusted on outside adjustment.
