  1. some what a tough call each has it's own positive.
  2. back on track ; would NEVER do that for this engine. looking forward to seeing the B73 at the shows. excellent job
  3. heck I can top that one. pain in a-s mechanic next bay over at Mack just finished head gaskets / exhaust manifold etc. as he goes to start engine for first time, I'm under my truck with air hose having blow nozzle on it. as he starts eng I take air nozzle start tapping it on floor. faster he throttles engine : faster I tap . eng slow to Idle : I slow "exhaust leak "sound. process lasted a while as I watched him race around truck looking for sound. let it be known this was payback for him busting me.
  4. it should unless that's another example of modern day cut backs. might be there just written in foreign language; or maybe no words just pictures for todays border crossers.
  5. seems to me based on bad memory; top half of valve is supply section ; bottom would be delivery- rough configuration. when treadle is pushed center section opens allowing air to lower portion. which is why valve has exhaust port on bottom. course B's and early others didn't have 121 / computerized crap etc. that valve should have supply/ delivery stamped at each port .
  6. one other advantage of the days with copper lines; valve proper position , air lines if not bent would line up. port size would place them close also. plastic a different deal.
  7. not attempt to pull cam;; you can do it . the little train said "I think I can; I think I can:: YOU CAN DO IT. it's tuesday how did you do???
  8. 3am this morning laying in bed staring at ceiling thinking of this post. I know I've taken the center nut (1 1/8th ?? ) off used a puller and taken the pump drive off WITHOUT changing the timing on pump by moving the 4 bolts. STILL HAVE TO SET ALL THE TIMING MARKS before any removing. shaft has a key way /key . can't remember the shaft set up I didn't know the "new" engines eliminated the side covers . clothes pins gone with the dinosaurs (and me) guess.
  9. I didn't see you standing there. other nine are so crooked I don't notice the shorter one any more.
  10. another episode of never tooo old to learn. likin the lifter dowel holders. the clothes pins work IF the exhaust manifold is off to access the two side covers.
  11. takes two for reinstall of cam ; important part is working with some one who listens. one under neath assisting cam through has fingers tooo close for comfort if helper installing cam pushes fast and fingers inside eng block get caught on cam lobes vs block. yes; info based on unfortunate experience . the wooden clothes pins were great for the day, sorry for late reply, have been preoccupied last few days.
  12. with front cover removed, reinstall the crank bolt , use spacers if needed . turn engine by hand till ALL the timing marks line up on EVERY gear. remove two(2) opposing bolts of the inj pump drive. DO NOT loosen all 4 . take two bolts (3/8 fine thread ??) cut the heads off. install these two bolts where the two pump drive bolts were removed. SCRIBE 4 lines in the drive gear one on each side of the headless bolts;this gives a very close setting for reinstall;; unit will still need a pump timing for 100% accuracy. I used WOODEN clothes pins to hold up the lifters:: I know what the he-l are wooden clothes pins , as earlier stated """"I'm old very old : LOL cutting this short before it goes blank again.
  13. I just wrote a lengthy reply on this project and it didn't go through . will try again
  14. does it make a difference if the screwdriver is a Phillips or straight blade, wondering what class I fall in. LOL
  15. guilty (again) . that poor dog on the hood gets cold in winter.
  16. we all know (married ones) if the wifes ac doesn't work the hot air WILL flow ;;not in a good way!!LOL. did I go off topic AGAIN. darn.
  17. another sign of : gone are the good days of trucking. the old B-model 2/45 systems worked best :: open the two(2) vent windows and bring up the speed to forty five(45). want better ac go faster... (all afternoon for brakes on 2020 subaru =i'm shi- housed right now) good nite
  18. three points for the ole man!!! I knew there was a 20 in that number
  19. looking forward to the "golden years" is a crock! LOL perfect sunny warm day Sunday for trip to flea market. had to take/use a cane . all the T/A ; knee pain was so bad had to cut short the flea market (T/A ) venture.
  20. sadly this new generation has no concept of the sacrifices made years gone by so they can have the freedom taken for granted. worst off is the fact that part of history and much other isn't taught in schools anymore. my step daughter is a teacher ;has been told teaching transgender is more important!!!!! what the F----K
  21. challenge with the steer axle seal is the "wear ring with dowel pin" looks to be part of the spindle . there is also an o-ring inside that wear ring. don't recall the need to change the o-ring, old school seals are taxing the brain cells again;;isn't the steer axle seal a 20?? number series. can picture the seal not the number.
  22. hopefully You video taped the Master at work to show future generations. The list is getting shorter rapidly of those with Rocky's ability. not only the best MECHANIC in todays world ; He is also a VETERAN : I Thank Him for His service. possibly You can use the contents of an package I asked Him to drop off; he should have given you.
  23. before all the cookouts, hot dogs, hamburgers, and beer: take a moment to reflect on the meaning of the day. If passing a cemetery and notice all the American flags at each headstone, pause for a moment to salute and give Thanks to the many whom gave the Alltimate sacrifice so the cook outs can take place.
  24. guilty in the first degree. even had the base cut to fit the '77 F-350 Ford hood. glad you didn't specify real red neck if you have the F O R D letters replaced with M A C K. guilty as charged. won't mention the Mack mirrors or the half dogs on fenders; rear mud flaps or 13 speed shift knob.
  25. it's the modern way of turning the antenna on the roof to have clearer reception of the two channels that come in on the 10 in black and white TV the lucky people have,
