  1. did the carrier style change ?? there should /might be the four (5/8 or metric) threaded holes on back side of carrier . rear rear bracket goes over/around the plate.front rear drop intermediate shaft install bracket reinstall driveshaft;;or am I on a "different page "/?
  2. then of course there were the "stuff was simple then compared to now" trucks that had a dash plaque for transmission which said 20 speed and there were two sticks on the floor. much simpler and nicer. old DM 800 =20 speed / ENDT673 ,78K in the dump. no one questioned the torque curve; they were more impressed with the fact of "hey You made it here". LOL
  3. my answer is a yes.
  4. now that's great news. have both #1 and #2, looking forward to #3 and beyond. i can't get this picture posting right yet. still have pictures of the Cortland show from last year. And this years show closing in.
  5. figured out the situation. have to be a club member to reply. that's a OK with me. yes sir like the curio. I still have two boxes of items for you which were supposed to be shipped months ago. haven't forgot; and the wife also reminds me regularly. LOL I have a real good item for the curio. attended an auction weds. amidst lots of items was a Mack decanter STILL FULL of scotch. mint condition. top which I believe was a bulldog /cork missing. remember when that came out brand new in 1975. mint condition with the serial number still in tacked. might have to personally deliver= alcohol through the mail ??? LOL
  6. number of questions:: 1-were drums also replaced or just shoes? 2- since "howl " started has there been a noticeable difference in stopping ?? 3- seem like all wheels or just one-two noise makers? new shoes, old drums possibly glazing is taken place . performance difference not noticed when new shoes /drums were installed - dust possible to be culprit.
  7. one of the company's I worked/drove for bought a triaxle DM800 coal body dump from Kentucky years ago. cab shield was so high I couldn't drive through an asphalt plant near by; had to back under the chute =only 3/4 of the way also. the fun days
  8. the hex 6 sided plug is as stated a magnetic one. remove that plug for inspections.it will (should) have a round magnet attached to it. anything on the magnet then very carefully while wearing rubber gloves one finger in the opening feel the trough for debris. is common for the magnets to have minor metal not pieces. the square headed plug is the filler. removing the hex plug oil may seem to run out. that is only the oil laying in the trough.
  9. sure chose a fantastic model to experiment with. RD800 not only rugged looking but a little less "known" model. 1/14 out of my scale dept. I'm still in the infancy stage of 1/24 ==1/25. building for over 60 yrs. LOL
  10. nice C-model {as long as you don't have to work on it )LOL . older "cousin" to the half cab U-model.
  11. steers hold air then might just need 4 to put on rears so it's safer and moveable till rest of body work is almost done, will allow time to search for 8 drive tires .
  12. knowing that company and it's efficient operation that DM-600 may have started out as a 10-wheel dump. rules change with arrival of tri-axles and a short wheel base dump becomes a lube truck. O & G has /had some of the best mechanics ever .
  13. another positive example of what the "younger generation" has missed; ole school racing. congrads on the win.
  14. not at all a fiberglass expert ,but trying to expand my knowledge : question is = would not a better bond be secured by drilling small holes in the fender itself which would allow the new fiberglass adhere better?? except for the label still on the "mold" , is that staying inside ?
  15. not understanding this :: is this from the original picture posted when rear end still assembled or a second rear end seal housing ??? outer paint looks to be from original picture. where did the seal go ??? should be a normal seal( national /stemco etc). ALL the damage to housing ??
  16. I.d call it a gindy trailer with name Mack transportation on front being name of company. that's only based on an elderly person's opinion. LOL
  17. keep it unique and "original";; a dash mounted 4-6 in fan. compressor set up on a gas engine ???
  18. you noticed that also. seems a lot bent up. big question based on picture is ; where is the seal which should have been in there??
  19. takes a minute longer but doing job the right way makes a difference later. have done the two heads as one assembly also. each project has it's own particulars ; equipment/ set up make a major difference
  20. see a clarification on truck/ engine.. the profile shows two 1981 trucks ; R-600 and R700
  21. well I can almost guarantee my pushrod is 20 yrs older then his also the bent in it would help either. just sayin
  22. so we are in agreement this engine is a 1981. picture you posted Jojo push rods seem HD compared to older spot welded ends. his aren't any good ' what if he sends his to you for comparing. ??? yours will work for him
  23. not to go off topic BUT, the senior thing is like a two=edge sword as the saying goes ::: when at the check out line and are asked "are you a senior"? feel not bad cause it means I don't look that old!!! when they don't ask but say "I gave you senior discount "" do I look that old !!!😱
  24. as a search for knowledge ;; original post states 81 mack; based on picture of heads which seem to be gold in color; assumption is this is a 1981 Mack , not a B-81 dump ?? racking brain cells trying to remember :: END 673 push rods lighter internally (thinner walls) then what could be a 1981 TURBO engine ENDT ??
