  1. sounds like a unit we need pictures of. especially the interior ;those right hand drives unique. can use them in the states to deliver mail.
  2. wheel dolly is definitely the way to go. for someone having one unit which may be a show truck only , the wheel dolly is an expensive investment. find one to borrow . worked for a fleet of 4-5 units ; yrs I did the grease technique ; finally the "frugal "(CHEAP) owner invested in a wheel dolly. worked the best.
  3. definitely hit the axle in center. I had a 5/8th die welded to a large nut which I put a socket for the sledge hits that missed the axle and hit the studs, I see everyone saying a grease board for sliding the complete assy.I used a steel/tin plate for the sliding . board may have a tendency to not slide as easy. important thing is do what is better for you. if need to disassemble wheels separately then that's the way to go. yrs of grease board wheel sliding and other feats your back will let you know every day. even for removing tires I use a hand truck .
  4. as stated many times here ; pictures always help . RD888 definitely worth looking at.
  5. picture 5 shows the luberfiner oil filter behind driveside cab. 864 all the way
  6. I'd say You are on a VERY SMALL list of anyone doing such an amazing restoration of such a large scale for private use. we know of those doing such restos ((Matt Phafl ) etc who build for a business ; Matt does have his own also. for a private owner such as yourself :: some what speechless I guess the way yours is turning out. looking forward for sure to see it in person.
  7. when Your done the B73 will be beyond show piece.
  8. deck wood !! entire bed wood ? ;; painted or nature finish ? the bed is going to tilt/tip and slide down ???
  9. don't want to go off topic ( ME !! - NO ). the osculating wheels I installed had two pins on the 5th wheel plate which locked into the table holding the prestress. 4 or 6 in spacers under the wheel mounted on DM chassis. wheel height was shoulder height to me ( I was 6 ft tall then ).
  10. at the brockway truck show , there was a truck with a very unusual 5th wheel set up; super HD . talked with the owner , he didn't know what it was used for . unfortunately there wasn't a name or tag on it. and worst the fact I didn't take a picture , speaking of which I still have some to down load to this forum of the brockway show . I don't get to excited about things ; sure hope to be around next yr to make the trip back to cortland , NY for next yrs show.
  11. interesting to see the MB with right hand drive .
  12. best part is knowing there are still sports out there not wrapped around just money. can't watch major sports=baseball/ foot ball /basketball in terms of professional . ice hockey/ soccer OK.
  13. up till recently I never knew that corn hole game was such a major deal. there was a competition on TV . they get serious . it's a skill. plus seems like fun.
  14. while at Mack truck , I mounted several HD 5th wheels similar but a much updated version. they are osculating 5th wheels . purpose is to keep fifth wheel plate continuous contact with trailer. ones I mounted were being used by a fleet hauling extra heavy /long prestress concrete beams. thing about a normal truck/trailer combo; on a 90 degree turn the fifth wheel has pressure on the ears of the wheel. osculating wheel wide part of table always has the weight distributed. this is a quick explanation. this truck may have been used for HD loads based on the spacers under to raise height and two HD straps bolting it to frame.
  15. my bet the blue ribbon is the clue == someones having a baby !!!! NOT ME
  16. I take it you went to a barbecue at a chicken farm . where else could anyone find so many chicks .
  17. enjoy every precious moment with the grandkids ; not only do we get older tooo fast : the grandkids seem to grow up faster.
  18. are you referring to the 315 hp which had the small turbine fan mounted top of engine between intake and engine mounted intercooler ?? believe that was macks idea before the radiator mounted air intercooler came to be, if we are on the same page ,
  19. while at Mack I set up two new mack fire trucks for delivery. both I hear are still at the departments for parade use only. don't think a 50 yr old fire truck would still be in service. one an R model - town of winchester center ;other a MB- town of roxbury ct; (first and only MB with a jake brake back then.).
  20. same company (owners) that have the first sold R model ::R607T 1001 , replaced it in '69 with a R611T . 611 long gone ; the R607 T ole #1 still in CT original owners. the R611T was set up with ENDT 673 and jake brake. ran 7 days a week hauling milk tank .
  21. if I see the fine print correctly it's showing the 864 V8 . there's a positive. duplex ?? triplex or quad ==A OK. how could it have gotten any better . nice looking= fun power ==NO computer.
  22. just realized ;; seeing as how I've been good lately : don't want to be going off topic. still discussing front end tools LOL
  23. that's why I earlier stated = customers didn't always know how accurate the kink pin job came out. grease fixed a lot some times. tapered pins bushings that were installed then reamed from bottom =up. no fancy electronic gadgets ;; hold the reamer forcing upward and turn evenly. didn't take much to over cut a bushing
  24. kink pin reamers I used / had were specific to one pin only. came in long narrow WOODEN box wrapped in an oily cloth. square head for adjustable wrench usually. back in the day pins were like a cup of coffee== small/ medium/large. just sayin.
  25. guess what threw me for a loop was the part saying "kits came with a nylon lined bushing" . I took it to mean plastic bushing :(been a long day of cutting wet grass).keiser kits are possibly what i was brain cell thinking then. I could almost have an upset stomach thinking back to all the tools and stuff I had before the auction. reamers/ pullers/ (2) 1in impacts :: too long a list. and the tech stuff= micrometers , gauges and more.
