  1. at the show saturday there was a hottie (more then one) worth noting. I tried to snap a picture but it was obvious a jealous boyfriend/ husband was like a hawk watching the chicks. LOL even tried to aim camera in her direction ; he saw it and put his hand on her ass as if saying it's mine !! . notice the smile on mowerman in the picture of us. he knew just who to ask to take the picture!! LMAO. yep she was a knock out.
  2. i don't have much accurate info but want to pass this on. going to the brockway show saturday from CT =went I-84 to 17 W. between mile marker 280 -279 (exit 87 ?) there is an open top long nose GMC fire truck parked with four sale sign. will try the interenet for idea of age etc. has 4-5 ,, 2in ? wide chrome radiator bars. came up quick on right side going west = heading back east i rmembered it ;; couldn't u-turn and stop for pictures or info. it is definitely different or i would post this. i know there are some fire truck buffs on here. just trying to pass on info.
  3. I was standing in the museum parking lot as trucks were leaving for parade.. using my CAMERA to take pictures;; challenge now to figure how to post some here. i've posted pictures here before with the DMM pictures= old age factor kicking in (memory failure ). Brocky were You able to make it:: Bob(mowerman ) said you weren't sure .
  4. I'm movin to where you live!! LOL
  5. I wouldn't go as far to say =your doing something wrong ! gauges you have not rated for that pressure?? = never heard of such a thing ;;; but never know today's world.
  6. heck if I knew that i could have driven to JFK and picked you up. could have stayed here ==wife is a great cook and likes cooking for someone who appreciates food (I Don't care one way or other about food)LOL
  7. years back (many) ; texaco oil used to run long nose GMC's with 318's. living on a lake next to major road -rte34 at night could hear the DD screaming up the long hill . like the songs of the '60's : the DD 's were such great music.
  8. so you really don't know history of the donor compressor. by chance did you check air tanks from donor ? do you have access of the donor for other parts or is it gone ?
  9. is the compressor on it now from original engine or was on donor engine from start? with the system COMPLETLY drained down, open all tank drains overnight . some cases larger drain if you remove drains completely from tanks, take off the feedline from compressor at the tank end. secure the end so it doesn't go whipping and hurt some one ;; and start engine . see how much crap comes out .
  10. right on with the picture ;;; NOW the brain cells are scrambling to remember the splitter set up. can remember the day at Mack , working on one in the bay having a shifting problem. I was young ; knew nothing of the operation of transmission. the splitter was not on lever . I was ticked off and kept slamming the splitter. foreman heard the noise and was pi--ssed. can't remember it was on dash or doghouse. cab was up
  11. nice flat bed ; what is the chassis , can't tell by picture nose half missing.
  12. cracker box have a Detroit with roadranger RTO 9513 ????
  13. think you got it right ;;; cracker box sounds familiar . know it was titled to one of the irons of the day ;;; the GMC must be the one,
  14. did head gaskets on an ole white conventional yrs ago that had the slanted cummins . what a pain - in- ass. as stated it was slanted to fit half under fire wall and in to cab with dog house. corner studs 325 lbs torque ? no room to put 3/4 dr torque wrench . bad enough putting heads under cab with flat engine!! two of us holding head off gasket so not destroy it going under slanted
  15. back in '69-70's for 68K you could have bought a couple of Macks . and the dealer filled the fuel tanks . I know it was my job to take a new truck down for fuel. most new ones going to a rental fleet only got 10 gals.
  16. see the manifold type now, forgot the oval inlet style. it works that's what counts
  17. bought what was left of my Grandparents farm with hopes of keeping it going back some yrs ago. 3+acres house, barn and outbuildings = 40K. my 2021 jeep gladiator Mojave (ordered and decked out ) 64K . only reason for purchase of jeep was dealer on trade gave me just under what I paid for a 2017 GMC 2500 diesel after I had it for 4 yrs and put 40 K miles on it = back and forth from CT to TN.
  18. OH heck your talkin a baby truck : I thought you meant a real truck 🤣 LAO!! sorry couldn't help myself. now i;ll have to find the one i'm thinking of. seeems it had a nick name . skinny bottom and went up to a narrow sleeper berth. flat front C O E .
  19. modern technology . in the day a spreader box couldn't hold a full load of asphalt either. looking at shape of CT roads, they don't use them here. NO SMOOTH ROADS HERE.
  20. the rear mount PTO is constant turn due to power shaft runs off live countershaft. the side mounts have a PTO gear installed on the countershaft which is controlled by main in gear
  21. for discussion ONLY 😇; not to object ' memory serves correctly the tri-countershaft transmissions use TOP right counter shaft ??? looking at the trans a side mount bolts higher up and is angled due to trans shape ??? to mount a LEFT side PTO ;which uses the lower countershaft;; a large adapter plate bolts on trans to which has the smaller standard pto bolt pattern. above statement validated cause I just looked at my 1/25th scale mack 6 speed !! LOL
  22. GMC 9500 ?? can't picture . do remember many yrs back working on a skinny GMC cab over ; don't recall model # or what problem was. see some macks on craigslist in NH ? h model / B 's. wonder if they were Dick Kemps ??
  23. for what ever reason the blue was the "one valve "does it all idea. possibly like other brain dead ideas (121 brakes and others) . drivers may have only pulled the yellow =not the red and accidents happened ? feed for brakes should have gone to blue then yellow / red. simple is better.
  24. not being critical - wouldn't want hose to split and suck in dirty air . filter change over is mint. nice job.
  25. looking at the picture , should the intake hoses be loosen up to take the twist/ strain on lower hose going into manifold ??? I would try to loosen and turn top hose toward engine front: might straighten lower hose.
