correct me if I'm wrong ;; isn't the alum fire wall block just an air manifold .individual ports. flip dash switch see/ hear what happens. possibly some thing was disconnected or by passed. manifold must help in chassis building when new, full groom cab = chassis functions plumb in to lower ports?

to change over wheel size spiders :: drums/hubs / bearing etc still have to come apart. the spiders bolts go through drums/ hubs . little bit of work, at least shouldn't have to buy ALL new parts just seals and spiders. can't correctly answer question regards to floaters on front weight wise.

did a couple of changeovers in the day before the tubeless .5 idea . when things were a bolt on system , bearing/ hubs/ drums reused only the spokes were changed to go 20in to 22in.

Have to think this one out more; running late . a 11R24.5 is basically a 22 in wheel; a 22.5 =20 in wheel. thanks for verification double clutch .i'm going with to do a change over as stated hubs need changing . will the steering box take strain ???

even with you as owner/operator , worn suspension could be a problem :: travel track worn too much might keep throwing the chain. have taken worn rails and built up ends with welder. front idler on bad rails goes crooked tilts idler =chain jumps track (like on news lately). if it runs and bucket raises ; how bad are the teeth/ shanks / cutting edge??? any caps missing and shanks worn to point of not holding new caps.?? can't imagine how Joeys name came to be in this topic LMAO😄 there is that possibility the proper counter weight is there . big cast with notches to rest on rear hanger brackets.

I see the Twinkies in the parts photo 🤣. had two torque multipliers .. long bar was 3/4 in 1in out . for this job the long handle made life a lot easier.

this topic has to be in the top 10 of comical . sitting here mentally going down memory lane. first truck to officially operate was the '57 Diamond-T Mack wrecker ; gas job 5speed electric 2 speed . road test was being handed a piece of paper with directions to a road call. first tow back was nervous for me. test for CDL was with Diamond-t wrecker with B-model on hook . short wheel base for sure. towing and backing was by then a natural; except when being watched by inspector. like shifting a multi speed transmission , moves and timing automatic motion: have you ever drove and shifted thinking about the moves . not easy. engine sound / revs tell you when it's right ; try watching the tach and shift !

when running without the hoe most machines had a rear counter weight installed. if a counter weight isn't found where machine is located (ask the owner ; one might be hiding in high grass ); making a concrete weight to hook on rear hinges wouldn't take much. won't mention any names ; but I know someone on here that's mixing a lot of bags of cement for a garage floor ,possibly he can mix a couple more for your counter weight LOL LOL 😁

for clarification , it's not the tensioners broke but the recoil springs. wondered how the chains were so tight if tensioners were failed. memory serves me correct the chains on that machine are adjusted by the "wish bone " (not twinkie) being pushed out with a grease gun on front idler.. when written tensioners were broke I mistook it to be the seals on adjusters leaking past resulting in constant loose chains. knowing history/ reason for sale helps , not being sold due to internal problem.

that's exactly the machine i would want for the 12 acres we live on (rent) 450/ 555 with 4in 1 bucket rear backhoe. how are the tensioners modified if they are broken . must have high hrs based on pads are down. like the JD 1450 I did clutch on , parts unavailable is definitely a challenge today. 12 K for a yard flower pot if something breaks that can't be repaired. at least it wasn't given a fluff and buff paint job to hide stuff.

why was it everyone back then spoke so positive of the "golden years". can't prove it by me now that I'm there. never had much dealing with auto transmissions (can't say trans anymore ) in class 8 units. thinking back to the paving days with clutches ; manual transmissions may be out. knees go to double size with just excessive walking/ yard work now.

close look at the wrecker there looks like it could be cables raising the wreck.

from what I'm seeing when passing big rigs is the fear all the highway signs will be getting changed to a different language sooner than expected. also seeing how the "professional drivers" are getting worse then 4 wheelers.. too many cross 2 =3 lanes to exit highway as they pass the exit with obviously no regards to anyone on the highway with them. bring back the days of manual transmissions AND ALSO road maps NOT telephones telling when to turn. felt bad after 50 yrs of having a CDL day I gave it up, now maybe it was a good move.
