  1. definitely a johnny cash :: (I got it one piece at a time) build. usually the fan is closer to the radiator inside the shroud. more you inspect more misfit items ;;; and that's from a picture.
  2. paint hides a lot . nice looking (from a distance ) unit.
  3. back then (when dinosaurs roamed) the MB was common place for running the scania. lot of R-4oo's had the v8- gas. once again racking the brain cells for R-400's having the scania. ????? did scrape alot of the filters ; couldn't have all been MB's . waterbury CT scrap metal co had R-400's can't picture eng set up.
  4. cross bar should have originally been held in by 5/8 bolts : threaded end welded to pipe. one each end, rubber grommet/ washers for flex. NOT to strengthen spring hangers. makes more sense knowing it had two fuel tanks at one time. why mack didn't have any idea == well we won't go there. LOL
  5. once again I have to say the info on this forum is mind boggling. 50+yrs later still learning. spent a week at the Mack fire apparatus school in allentown === I know there is no such place today!! well it was there 45 yrs ago. LOL point is never knew the difference in model designation== CF719-864/ CF795=865 etc. maybe I did know THEN and forgot along with may other numbers ...not only that makes me feel old ; the fact 866 parts expensive = I was around when 866 was a brand new engine,
  6. that cross bar isn't made to take excessive torque . if it keeps breaking/ snapping I would check the vehicle for problems else where == broken crossmember ,brace. bracket , loose bolts etc. it's official name couldn't tell you. just a lower support bar, old B's/ R's had cross bar used to hold cross over fuel line and lite support even they broke /cracked. we all know no longer lower fuel cross over.
  7. If a KW triaxle few yrs back was 240K ; what's the black beauty ??300K + $$$$ today numbers unreal. wreckers going for million plus etc. have to do a lot of dirt hauling to make that truck pay for itself.
  8. I'm likein the shop.. miss my 4 -legged companion also. all though he would never sit that quiet . husky shepherd had way too much energy.
  9. can understand the rough ride;;; that's one short wheelbase. still a great lookin ride
  10. ambach draws another blank . can remember the flywheel timing marks , two man job made it easier.one turning engine with bar watching marks vs pointer while other pumped the hand primer and watched fuel flow from number one barrel. then timing went to front crank balancer with a timing light. reason to this day I always painted the fan blades different colors. not for pretty but to see location of spinning blades while my hand went with timing light VERY close by. don't realize how an all black spinning fan can be mis calculated for location . knuckles will verify that. holding light / watching marks then the rapid sound of knuckles in way of fan.
  11. glad to hear it's working. was going to suggest with window up , a piece of thin flat stock ((jimmy stick))slid down window slot can usually get to the linkage . also can of penetrating oil with flex extension can spray door linkage from top through window door channel ,
  12. BIRTHDAY BEST OTHER DOG
  13. you are joking ??? I don't abbreviate transmission any more . calling it a trans will tick someone off.
  14. I had to give up beer years ago. talking to a bartender once that lost a lot of weigh and she looked great. she told me gave up on the beer. always favored the Yuengling. the Polish beer came in larger bottles one bottle same as 1 1/2 regular . with the present meds even the JD/ yukon has been tapered off.
  15. real nice looking unit. bet the secret location of the other 49 trucks won't be revealed ' LOL
  16. no matter what type of trailer in question, the big question while bottomed out on train tracks is ; how much fu--in time before train shows up. the set back on the 1/25th beam trailer I'm building IS the gooseneck operation. have been studying many photos . neck is built . detach/ connect portion is involved. 3- cyls to raise lower.
  17. first I heard of this "furry" situation. why I don't watch much TV or news:(except the weather channel )Stephanie does a great job with weather and moral boost. hope this furry thing =is limited to the wacko two-legged. have been checking out the locate rescue/ shelters for a 4 (that's FOUR ) legged friend-cat/kitten . closing in on 72 with bad knees/hips and other aliments that showed up on x-rays monday, a dog is out of the question. we had a rescue husky / Shepard from pup to 16 yrs old. I can't walk/ chase a new puppy and don't want the trauma again of putting down a senior dog. so a cat works for me; not the wife. guess she doesn't want a straight pussy in the house !!!!🤣🤣
  18. reading this post a couple days later. been occupied else where lately . reread every comment at least twice while racking the " micro films " in brain cells. Dam ; can't remember . the 5 degrees BTDC bosh pump correct. 1 1/4 cut box wrench for removing #1 plunger remember. rest of numbers drawing a blank.
  19. major/ sad reality of another depression is the chaotic conditions which take place will be negative beyond our wildest dreams. unlike the '29/30 depression; way tooo many people today are "rich" only on a computer screen .. people are maxed out on credit cards/ very few know how to actually work with their hands (not including key pad).. if the phone system is compromised . mass shooting will be a daily . it's a movie but mad max shows possible future. back in 29 the easiest way to become richer was to make the majority of working class poorer. hopefully I won't be around WHEN it happens. was informed by a bank personal yr ago the coin shortage was fabricated by the government; no such shortage was real;; WHY? paper dollar basically is worthless , tell wife keep all the coins we have will need them . as I said before the record from the '60's; Johhny sea == day for decision says it all.
  20. was a little confused reading the spinner came out in '86 till i back spaced a few more post. reading scania had them for yrs. I do remember removing / taking the filter apart and scraping the sludge , back in '70's. must have been on the scania .
  21. can't help on history , sure got excited reading it was in CT till I saw yr it was posted.😢
  22. can't help with the trans at this time but- 1- real sharp looking unit , 2- how is the twin stack set up done. open door blocks view.
  23. a "HEADliner"is like an auction PIECE, bidding for TV fame is short lived , most networks want ratings ; will bid and pay for those ratings.
  24. have to agree with wire tracing to be sure. museum might send info of what it was built as : not what someone may have changed it over to through the yrs. you looking to make it an original then museum info important.
  25. she will be all set for a while by the $$$ being made doing talk shows..
