  1. remember those towel rolls quite well. "knock on wood" maybe that's why i haven't gotten any shots for years , even before covid..
  2. agree on the shuttle valve; but i think that's a different picture/valve then first post ?? like many/most of the topics on here it comes down to :: darn I wish I could be there to see it first-hand.
  3. just not understanding why continual live air for brake system (front) other then going to TTP valve for trailer. as stated, many hands may have been in there. have seen such a cluster recently on a ford tractor /trailer combo. once a road truck; now a farm unit with limited road usage. lights on both units were sooo patched/ spliced. no one knew how to read the sockets for which color went where. there were back feeds, lights going on wrong time etc. goood pair cutting pliers . cut everything out and ran all new.
  4. and from that moment in 1943 the Dam busters came into existence.
  5. can we call you Bob the engineer ; you got us back on track . I sure hope I haven't been a bad influence here with going off topic. LOL 🚂
  6. not defending the counter person; don't think you can call them man/ woman anymore .same as postal clerk no more postman . WTF !! any how I would have thrown the clerk for a loop with " I need something over 450 CCA. it would have put the ball in "her"court. surprised she didn't come out with we don't carry the brand generic!
  7. SAD but true. never thought I would see the day a cup of coffee has to be labeled---contents hot. Duh.
  8. Is this what they mean when the kids today learn "new math " in school. LMAO
  9. the jacobs engine brake would be an add on unit. a dynatard is built in unit. as other text have written major components would need to be changed. push rods, rockers, cam, (valve covers?). another forum discussed this topic some time back, can't find it. I go back to the beginning of the dynatard which had larger adjusting solenoids on exhaust side . from what i gather the covers are different today.
  10. reducer ??? 18 vs 20 stud . the two corner studs on a 20 are different locations side by side . 18 has the 3/4 in middle of where the two would be if memory is working properly. sure hope forum is kept updated on this one
  11. OK now it time for blood pressure pills 😷LOL and i was doing good for a while. OH wifey;; remember when you looked like that!! I DON"T .😁😁
  12. the other two parts trucks don't have that valve. do either have a front axle limiting valve=dial or toggle on the dash (in the cab)?
  13. off the wall question; that wasn't a tractor or had trailer lines to rear at some point. I don't see why there would have been a quick release from dial control to front tee'd in. quick release ok not a tee towards rear
  14. now I wouldn't call them stupid answers : they are called answers the old people give. LOL
  15. Thank heaven for you tube and videos like these sure makes the cold winter days go by faster. coordination between drivers amazing .
  16. after reading the last three pages of this topic, SO DA-M glad I'm retired! I remember towing in a R685 yrs back for a major company. mack management convinced the owners the engine was blown. oil all over air cleaner area. reality it ran backwards for minute when backing down ramp bumped the dock. reading this update dealers change parts half-ass is seemingly way worse.
  17. sure I mentioned this on here before but; I went into a local part(auto)store looking for new axle lug nuts = standard 1/2x20 ? . parts "clerk" questioned -what's it for? my mistake when i answered a boat trailer. we don't sell boat parts ! same nut as hundreds of auto wheels ass-le.
  18. sounds like a front axle limiting valve that has been disconnected possibly yrs back and never noticed.
  19. I've always believed in supporting local business, challenge is ::and has been discussed here many times , trying to find someone behind the counter that knows what you are asking for. on-line for me is limited to item I'm looking for. most of the old knowledge persons are gone. those left at the local truck parts store are counting the days till retirement. I've dealt with them for 40 + yrs. new management pushes the sell parts needed or not idea.
  20. late '70's DM's == real trucks. don't forget besides rookie rods the DM's and other HD trucks had front bumper steps made from large cables . the metal steps bent/ broke when contact was made with objects ; the bumpers didn't bend. cable steps had movement.
  21. YES IT DID . factory may have given it a technical meaning ; workin folk used dumper mixer.
  22. waterbury Mack was also a Diamond t dealer for short time in the day. possibly it was standard equipt on T's. put some time on the internet looking up local companies of days gone by recently. now those pictures kicked in memories.
  23. I can't/don't remember the muffler brand nor the application requiring it. they were out there.
  24. amazing how the old pictures Sturr up the brain cells.. I haven't seen a "pancake " muffler in many years. nice looking unit. so simple yet practical "for the day".
  25. boring is putting it lightly;; I call it misrepresentation. no one told me the beautiful girl in the treadmill TV commercial WASN'T in the box with the treadmill. I looked the box over carefully before I bought it for my wife.NO WHERE did the sealed box say model not included. 🤣🤣
