  1. wasn't aware of Your military time ;;THANK YOU for Your service, Sir
  2. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE:: OFF TOPIC AND I DIDN'T DO IT ๐Ÿ˜ , circle back::: the truck wipers of the '50's were better also. LOL
  3. if your going to go back ;; start at the real goood times::'50's . Doo wop music/'55 -57 chevy/ the real Macks ( no usb plugs). personal attitude way better then today another plus those born in the '70-80's would get a glimpse of the best times they missed.
  4. original post states a '95 tri-axle dump with 270 k miles. dumping air while body dumping also has some safety advantages ; the unit is sitting on a more stable "foundation". less tendency for body to rock back and forth .
  5. NO clarification needed Sir; it's automatic to think a 2000 has computer some where ; wasn't sure if modern technology screwed up the fan clutch also. at 8 + months i wouldn't think conditions would be that bad to clog a fan ;; not saying can't be. also statement says clutch seemed wrong from the get go. don't think it's a warranty now
  6. Yep ; one of them new fangeled veehikles . the viscous hub was more problematic with old units not working from the bi metal plate being loaded with dirt or missing completely and fan NOT engaging. have seen older ones staying engaged from center pin oxidized in position. a new one (8-9) months old =NO
  7. rare these days;; common in the good days. understand heat from AC/ radiator ; still go with faulty clutch.
  8. his statement was fan seems engaged while sitting in line (asphalt plant maybe ) . engine can't be running hot enough for fan then . with AC = there's NO computer involvement here correct??.
  9. 2000 truck ;; fan installed 8-9months ago . they don't have thermostats ? ;; even if it had one, fan clutch when cold shouldn't turn eng belt. gone are the days of installing parts and forgetting them for a couple yrs i guess.
  10. JoJo when engine cold the clutch shouldn't have enough engagement to turn the belt : yes /no ?? the fan can be moved by hand with some resistance but not turn the belt.. unless pulling opposite tensioner . stilll that's tight
  11. 1- hrs are high ; could have been situation with major idle time 2- always dump the air when body dumping 3- jake always a plus 4- the big riggers will shift with the jake- mechanically it is not recommended; MANY WILL ARGUE that statement. just passing on what I was told.
  12. with that info ;i would unfortunately go with faulty fan clutch. cold/ cool engine ; fan clutch should NOT have hold power to turn belt
  13. It's a challenge JoJo not being there as with many questions. "forever to warm up " ==all day/ first few ?? trying to get better (stay on topic ) . wifes '15 subaru 70 degrees out start car high idle 7-9 minutes . shut it off , wait 20 minutes go to start back high idle.
  14. when you say "I put a new one on": what time frame are you talking :: week/ day/ yr? engine SHUT OFF and key removed from ignition. can you reach in and turn fan by hand? did the small bi-metal plate fall off front of fan : doubt it did. radiator heat bends the bi metal plate which pushes the pin to let more fluid in fan core thus engaging it which is opposite your situation. when the fan doesn't engage most causes are dirt build up under bi metal plate. back to square 1. if you can not turn fan manually :: WITH ENGINE OFF fan clutch NG.
  15. have seen/ heard engines try to run when a cyl is in exhaust mode from eng brake shorting out. this is before the computers ran the engine.
  16. 6 volt ??? ; don't remember seeing. pos ground i'd say yes
  17. I put my coffee and doughnut on the jake solenoid . ??
  18. I sure hope Your not going "off topic"!!!๐Ÿ˜; I'm calling my union steward :: I have seniority๐Ÿ˜Šin that area of going off topic. LOL
  19. a shutterstat will work providing it opens at right temp for fan to kick on . before the computers took over ,a simple easy to install fan control was just an on/off switch in cab going to an electric over air solenoid having #4 air (1/4 plastic) line to fan hub. today's world much more technical. can't just take any power source . air valve in cab totally eliminates the computer ; bit more work to mount an air switch neatly in cab and run line to fan. not knowing for sure if the fan changing from on to off will kick signal to computer of engine problem ??
  20. that's why this DMM seems unusual. would feel better going there when someone is working on the house being built; then i would hopefully get permission to scope the DM out a lot better. didn't seem to have been a triaxle. possibly a mixer at one time having a body change
  21. NOW WAIT A DARN PICKIN MINUTE HERE ; this forum is like being married : I'M BEING ACCUSED of something I had NO part of ::: this time.. LOL๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡
  22. sure could use a welder set up for plastic now. i see why the front plastic bumpers are left on the sides of the road. after sanding/cleaning the epoxy I put on bumper last night doesn't stay. removed it ; waiting now for a different glue to hopefully hold. last resort i'm going to use the model glue. LOL her car not mine. final step a couple of 2x4's bolted to front. red neck style.
  23. auto darkening helmets are the "best thing since slice bread" . always Leary of them but have found more positive since owning one. the flip with 2x4 Lens ( didn't like the big lens helmet after 6-8 hrs steady had head aches) i had a tendency to move parts or weld handle too much when motion of flipping helmet. also auto was great in tight spaces. coke had those side bay delivery trailers with no room under side to flip a helmet ; and they always had broken something under neath.
  24. if that's what it does to plastic;; what are results when someone sprays it on their skin .
  25. issues like this is one of the main reasons i always cleaned the drain oil pan before removing the pan plug. have had my b-lls broke ;"why you washing out the drain pan"? because it let me know any foreign matter in that pan came from the engine i'm working on. have seen drain pans with so much crud from other stuff.
