  1. ROCKY ROCKWELL ;;; you got the best of the best . He's my hero. we worked Mack together. then he did O&G . can't keep a good man down ;LOL he needs to be on his own . unfortunate situation with His wife .
  2. when you have those "down attitude days" just pull up the post from Matt on B73 restoration _start from the beginning reading and checking the pictures if they don't get you motivated nothing can, just sayin . keep telling yourself """ i can do that"
  3. when baskin robbins built the new freezer in southbury the welder they used (paul Yuotts) with stick rods welded all the refrigeration pipes 10-12in dia so close to the walls he used a mirror and bent the rods around to the back side of pipes. this was a huge freezer. not one leak. he was the one (in his spare time ) teaching me the T I G machine baskin Maintenace shop had.
  4. your all set then . now it's not the physical pressure but the mental pressure;; making the decision as to which way to continue on with the build. take time building the first one with the option of building the second.
  5. never the shut up . would rather drive down to NC (visit my sister) then stop by your shop and assist in engine build. think this has to go to the chat box before I'm (we) are in trouble.
  6. yours in frame blue paint from topic of engine painting. spent alot of time studying the differences in " new engines
  7. don't think i have a lot more to learn but there is a lot I hope to learn: 😁! especially about those under the exhaust injectors your picture shows. How did I do ;; brought the topic back to injectors :::LOL
  8. suggestions can be made by many;; the final answer is yours. how you are set up for HD work etc..one goal is "KEEP IT FUN". when it becomes a job, time for another hobby.
  9. on some early maxi can set ups not having clearance , the can is still push type but it's mounted inside the frame rails with through the frame arm linkage with as you say a steel rod going back to the service brake chamber and pulling it on . rods broke as mentioned chains installed.
  10. always wanted to learn the T I G welding process.
  11. Baskin had a brand new miller wire feed with the alum spool gun set up. that's a fantastic set up once you get the alum technic down pat. reefer trailers all alum inside, challenge not to get the Styrofoam insulation burning.
  12. "old time cummins diesel mechanic";; how old ?😃. anyone from cummins CT from hartford (brainard rd ?).don't know what's there now. haven't been that way in many years. an instructor there :Fred Munday think his name. service manager gray hair with beard , the shop foreman = shorter guy. one of them may have been named Ray. there was a crew of the best quality, the knowledge and personality. the good days. DD had bill black (bell Detroit).
  13. defiantly miss my welders. had 5 0nce. a lincoln 250 trailer mount. ; 2 -wall units 240 plug/ a 240 wire feed and a road service lincoln 115 . unlimited fun to fix/repair/ build anything. never liked the small lincoln. had it set up for gas not flux core. first job inside stainless steel milk tanker. any idea what it's like to haul all that stuff through top hatch! . first arc things went wrong. turned around the welder was on fire. haul all the sh-t back out. returned the welder for another. used my brother's 115 hobart today ;; don't like it. LOL
  14. got passed the paint topic in photos; now are you saying the injectors that everyone talks about here are UNDER the exhaust. I'll go out on a limb and say the engine has a jake. looking at the spacer under valve covers. too bad it's not possible for me to drive down to NC and watch/ assist in an eng rebuild. my sister lives in NC outside of Raleigh.
  15. paints not only a pride maker , it's helps 100 times over for checking / finding possible leaks. always painted every eng/ trans etc after a build. never a fan of the gold engine color vs gray ( or for us old bastar--s green). did an eng in silver , what a mistake =touch it and the silver rubbed off.
  16. didn't think shutters would do any good on your set up. so you have a full fledge Mack attack RV . LOL
  17. depend on the degree of trophy you are aiming for :: best of show or a clean running driver. factory new (in the day) everything was painted. remembering eng painted on stand not in frame from factory. good pressure/ steam cleaning covering over all important inlets still comes out good in frame.
  18. just noticed the shelby picture;; there are three people in a two seater. that's ,, one lucky S O B ;; a shelby and two beautiful women besides.
  19. not awkward looking at all. did this B have shutters on it before? wouldn't think you who have left them on with cooler in front? what is the later engine?
  20. I second that motion. the shelby could be remake. the blue G T O ;; perfect color / clean lines. only car to top a G T O ( for me ) a '66 shelby GT 350 fastback : blue with white 10 in stripes.
  21. first seeing it from the road = it's a ways away; thought it was F W D. didn't see where a triaxle was takin off. long wheel base. pressure wash:inside and out: and wax be a sharp working rig.
  22. loaded other info pictures. cleaned up sure would look sharp (I think). possibly someone on this site owns it ; don't know. hope there isn't any legal business with picture taking . wasn't any one around to ask.
