  1. 140 proof; now you know why old timers had a better immune system . their shots were in a glass/bottle; not needle in DR's office.
  2. back then there was way less time to do a bathroom run; there was more of a show and less commercials. unlike today 4 minutes of show then 8-10 minutes of commercials. for an ole bast--d like me today is better ; seems more trips to bathroom sooner. be great if I was a TV person. LOL
  3. bought my Grandparents farm house (what was left of it ) back in '78; the still was in the cellar set up. word has it the final product was 140 proof. my Father wasn't aware still remained there. back in service it went with help of neighbor. oh the good days.
  4. the worse part is trying to find an oldies station playing music from my high school days!!!! so called oldies stations are playing tunes from 80'-90's. LOL . I'm a 50's-60's old bast--d. challenging to look at those pictures of 50's /60's street rod knowing ;; they were brand new in my early driving days.🤣🤣
  5. no affiliation with either auctions. found on auctionzip. saturday4/1/23 real trucks JMW auctions 3852 state RTE 28 Boiceville NY. pictures show Mack cabs; etc. also online toy auction Noel Barret 3/17/23 Pook&Pook unusual truck related items ,a Mack ash tray I've never seen before , many signs , pins etc. hope i've given enough info for any one interested.

  6. no reason to jack truck up so wheels off the ground. jack under the A-frame close to spring saddle. enough to take weight off center trunnion bar. a neglected bronze bushing worn out won't allow grease on bottom between bushing and cross bar. the grooves will be gone. a bronze usually is worn on bottom more then top.no matter what personal technic is ; grease works .
  7. sad to say , Mack needs more then a big bore pinnacle. i'd say Mack needs Zenon Hanson back.
  8. tubes of GOOD grease so much cheaper. rarely see people jack up the trunnion to grease center bushings. even the greasing process is an "work of art" . have seen those with an air operated grease unit hold the handle till grease is dripping on the ground. doesn't do the seals much good when they are blown out.
  9. no matter what technic is used, with torches /fire being used every job is a cautious one. fact it is a sanitation refuse truck ( come on now it not a garbage truck (that's a different brand ). have seen how fast those trucks catch fire from hidden papers etc. doing with body on (experience speaks again);; hopefully someone spends ALOT OF TIME with a pressure washer. way it's done also has a number of other factors;; time down out of service // age of unit// is it a back up or spare. and most important $$$$$. Safety ' that's alot of weight to be supported while someone is under neath.
  10. as I said once in another post ;; these engines didn't come with lifting eyes for unlike todays electronic "nightmares" engines back then were made to work ; not be removed for repair regularly. for your removal operation one major thought will be :: is this lifting procedure safe. i have found chains have a tendency to bend things , HD straps work better if possible. the lifting device also makes a difference. trans mission/ engine combo pulled together to me is alot of pressure on the manifolds.
  11. wondered why the 5th wheel so far back;; now i see the rear rear a tag axle.
  12. the positive to buying the Mack first is you won't have the new teeth for the bob-tail ride to rattle teeth lose. LMAO😁😁
  13. it was an R model Mack !!they are /were ALL special. LOL
  14. I always thought of those little front wheel bearings when a vehicle does speed in excess of common sense. tires also , but when a bearing goes at 80+mph that axle is now a ground bearing spindle. with a tire out possibly a little more control on rim (and alot of Prayers ). had a R-700st with V-8 maxi doing 70mph once . didn't know vw bugs went that fast on a two lane road. female driver of bug must have gotten a kick out of idiot in big truck trying to catch her to get another look at beautiful set of legs in short skirt.😂
  15. picture had me wondering for a minute; looking at the middle way exhaust pipe. lucky I was able to see the small print lower right hand corner::LMSWM
  16. for the most part vehicles used in truck pulls are made for pulling competition . that video looks to be daily runners just being abused. I'll stay on the spectator side of the fence ;; not the paying for broken parts side. Englishtown Dragway back in the '80's held the truck drags. one black pete conventional held everyone attention. driver took off the rear tires put mounted tire casing ,allowed for lest chance of drive line failure. chain binder on rears to stop hop; removed fan. air filters . 86 mph. for a daily driver back then it was impressive.
  17. easy to start tripping down memory lane with topics like this. SC 350 was "high horsepower back then. such simpler , enjoyable times. no computers, emission crap . 8in stacks maybe on a bulldozer.
  18. can I get an AMEN on that !!!! oh wife come here and read this .I'M NOT alone :::LOL
  19. only one superliner i know of in CT area that had a cat in it. it was used for a lowbed hauler. i believe his son now runs the company and still has the Mack.
  20. best part of these shows from my situation is NO jewelry or house trinkets. my wife not interested. also I want to enjoy the shows.
  21. common back in the day were Cummins powered Macks, don't recall too many if any Cats ;not saying they weren't installed. Mack westerns may have had more. east coast very few, new haven truck rental (no longer in existence) was in the change over process from the B's etc to R's/F's /DM's. .a number of the F models had cummins power. '71-72 waterbury Mack sold over two hundred trucks . most to NHTR. being a rental co, The F models were specked for distant hauling
  22. If you have any connections to a local FD ; can they have a "training session" with your truck and hook a pumper up to it and run water pressure through system. or town fire hydrant. in spring/ warmer weather of course. . 70mack on track with the rodents. even if all openings were covered the critters find a way to get in. pull every cover possible to see were they are/were.
  23. i've been racking the brain cells trying to remember other AC brands. the Mark IV was the low-pro units of the day.
  24. not seeing a V8 emblem , only one large stack. must have had some hefty HP to keep Monfort speed and tradition.
  25. I saw the picture you posted of your service truck; sharp lookin unit. I had a '93 Hino i bought brand new cab and chassis . sat in my garage for a full yr while I worked round the clock keeping everyone else iron running. finally sent it to a fantastic welder ; he and i (when i could ) built a HD flatbed dump on it. I really liked the little cab over. that FL pictured brings back memories of the Mack days. a FL with the (at the time ) experimental 866 V8 showed up. as a youngster I was privileged to work with the Mack engineers on trials and tear downs. sad day in my life when the FL came in on a flat bed totaled beyond usable.
