  1. also you are looking at a tandem rear floating axle cap VS the single axle solid axle configuration
  2. no air / nomaxi/NO STOP ::: just sayin.
  3. so many yrs later and still learning. never paid attention to side by side vs up/down on air cleaner piping, do remember the cable control now that you posted a picture. so many changes with "progress"; still remember the dry road/slippery road valve on dash;; it cut the full air pressure to steer axle brakes .
  4. one of the reasons air start vehicles had larger volume air tanks. as with all mechanical devices ; each one has it's down fall. back then engines could handle the forbidden ether can. many of winter road calls for no start / no air.
  5. Don't look now !!! we are going off topic AGAIN. I put short version of me and a H67 on frozen clutch topic. yrs back two old timers came to waterbury mack from Maine to look at a H67 single axle for sale. dead winter cold ; tow truck hooked to H model. I'm in the H. boss and two buyer watch as tow truck pulls me to start. tow truck stops ;I didn't . the H had a twin stick duplex. everything so cold i thought both sticks in gear:: aux wasn't .SMASH into plate on wrecker with the bubble nose. my boss (big guy) races over to me : "get out of that truck you fu--in assole. two buys never said a word; got in their vehicle and left. so summary:: my H model story didn't have a happy ending LOL
  6. thanks for video: i will log off here and check it. wouldn't go through for me on here.
  7. have to say the H model may have been a quirky looking with the little bubble nose ; at same time a different all around truck. higher cab had visibility and shorter cab
  8. new england area back in the day had a number of fleets using air starters. many benefits : if as mentioned they were maintained.
  9. sounds like a positive accusation, depending on trans you were planning on connecting to it
  10. or even the "spaghetti westerns" what's better then the clint Eastwood ; good, bad, ugly .trio scene near end; find yourself rootin for the guy. what better TV time after fill up on turkey. LOL
  11. make sure there is plenty of run room in front of you. and parking brake WILL stop truck in emergency. agree with above suggestion; air build up . I mashed front of old H67 yrs ago when being towed to start= two stick ten speed : dead cold winter . main was in gear aux wasn't ( thought it was). tow vehicle stopped , I let up clutch - I didn't stop.
  12. i think i lucked out when working for Mack, they were still an AMERICAN truck. MS and so on came later in time. B's/ R's/ MB/F's and of course the DM's ; the real Spirit of American !! what's this metric crap !!LOL
  13. going on idea that's a picture from ground level; the outer linkage would be top of photo. since that's a push clutch, is it possible the fork hold down/ tightening bolt is in backwards and the nut being thicker then bolt head is hitting cover housing?? difficult to see ,some what looks like housing has marks behind nut. don't remember clearance . if someone could be in cab slowly working clutch while you watch (wearing safety glasses) to see throw out operation. AND TRUCK SHUT OFF WITH KEY REMOVED.
  14. I was just studying the pictures you posted. as i've stated numerous times here;; I'm always willing to learn (some )new things.
  15. check very early post ; clutch isn't stuck just takes 20seconds to go in gear the way i read it. that's why i brought up the clutch brake idea.
  16. THANK YOU for the encouragement some times i tend to doubt my memory. so being a guide; would that be a top or bottom picture?
  17. how you pair it would greatly depend on how your going to use it. a show / play truck not as important. a daily used work truck needs to be much more specific. work truck the trans need to be compatible. can't have a wide range main coupled to a totally different aux. I found that out yrs ago making a "gotta have it tomorrow" duplex out of two different ratio mack 10 speeds
  18. basically your saying they used the "emergency" blow off valve to regulate pressure? i've heard trucks that constantly had the discharge blowing off, thought it was malfunctioning governor. interesting
  19. If they would only make more movies like that one again. no killing; violence, and you laugh hrs after seeing it .
  20. i just figured out how to enlarge the picture; now the confusion has set in. can see what seems to be another rectangular opening opposite end. on early single disc throw out assy didn't some have a 1/2hole in casting and the circled shiny shaft was a "guide " so the throw out bearing assy didn't spin rather slid back and forth. the picture is excellent ;;is it possible to get a picture of opposite end if this is a top picture??
  21. if it were top picture;; 1- wouldn't have that big picture ? 2- looking straight through shouldn't have bell housing casting opposite side, should be lower opening.3- you should be looking at the throw out fork top side ? , not the clamp bolt; yes/no . that top vent /inspection cover wasn't to long lasting . no clutch brake puts the discussion back to square one, a lag in gearing truck into gear is what i believe is situation. can't say oil on disc =looks clean by picture. easiest way for clarifications to ask ;; is that picture taken of top or bottom bellhousing ?🙃
  22. not to sure maybe it's me; seems this forum is going a little off topic AND I DIDN'TDO IT THIS TIME !!LOL looking back original question was asking torque specs; now question is engine swapping in a fire truck. is this a fire truck going for repower? modify air intake and leave tip turbine assy on. not for horsepower change but for a radical fire truck. also notice the fire truck is an allison trans.
  23. nope no C B - the throw out fork would have had a lower tab which pushed against the brake adjuster on lower trans plate
  24. older Macks the clutch was adjusted using exterior linkage/ clutch brake internal adjustment. the spicer clutch in most Macks just the opposite adjustment procedure; brake exterior adjust first then internal clutch adjust. you do not have a spicer clutch. If the clutch is working proper under load ,just doesn't allow for going into gear ; i would check the clutch brake adjustment in bell housing. loosen lock nut , turn out threaded bolt ONLY a little does alot.
  25. I was racking my brain cells trying to picture the two hose air cleaners and for sure there was a cable going to lower intake hose as you say for inclement weather intake. can't remember two separate filters in canister ;;small and large?
