not like they are bob tail or empty trailers. there's some serious weight being pulled. even if they are Owner operators having respect to their vehicle ;; which i doubt . the bragging rights over rule care and caution by looks of the front ends off the ground. must be loud and FUN to attend.

totally amazing back in the day it didn't take 100 +lights and all chrome for a truck to have such class. that FL has class written all over it.

years back I went to the truck drag races in englishtown NJ. also to the poconos to watch the class 8 big rigs go on circular track. have to say these videos are truly insane to watch. would expect to see driveshafts laying on the ground with the torque put through them.

you got it right about the Halloween fun of many years back. it was a challenge many of us took sneaking up to someone's front porch and steal a pumpkin, not for the idea of stealing . many times we just moved it saying we were there and didn't get caught .. never understood the toilet paper all over ; today no one can afford toilet paper to throw away. LOL

the word on the east coast back in the day was ; the monfort speeding ticket would only be paid by the company if it was OVER 80 MPH. an east coast truck doing 80 !! you are joking . there were a few : very few. such a different world it was "back in the day"= you youngsters missed a lot of fun times in the trucking industry.

nice job on the pinstriping/// scroll work.. . my '77 ford f-350 flatbed was pinscrolled 😁. equal time for both sides LOL . a 2017 GMC dura max diesel pickup was pinscrolled that i traded in for my latest ride ;; a 2021 jeep gladiator mojave , which i sent out for pinstriping/scrolling.

even though this site is for the real trucks; fortunately, there are a number of members building the scale versions also, myself being one of them, there is a site for truck model building. they may have the info you are looking for.

can't help with dimensions, interesting build. where are you locating major parts :(barrel, cab) ?

there is also the air cleaner set up (winter/summer) that has the cable control which closes the door on air cleaner to allow engine cabin air :warmer air to be pulled into engine less from air cleaner tube (outside air).

back then going to work every day I passed a R700L ( RS700 or RL700 don't remember). stopped a number of times and took pictures. will look have high doubts I have them any more.

I can't remember any other AC unit other than kysor back in the day. AC in pictures looks a little wider and lower than kysor. not saying kysor didn't have other models. when a Mack western showed up on the east coast in the day; everyone stopped and stood at attention (sorta). racking memory banks , the RS700L was a west coast designation . R-r model / S-steel frame rails / 700- series/ L- western issue ?? not sure on that one. RL700L = R model with (L) aluminum rails 700 series . gray wrap around dash? I was at Mack '69=='75 . have to agree with guess on yr of wrap dash; mid '70's. I can't remember exact. for the RS700 model in progress (which is looking fantastic from a truck modelers point of view; I would take the DM800 kysor and cut it low and wider.

Guess the Diamond T or R model won't be getting a sleeper. LOL: Dave in CT

what do these NEW engines use for fuel shutoff? obviously it's not mechanical ; electronic controlled solenoid over fuel? others like cummins have(had) the fuel solenoid opens and closes for fuel. possible fuel pressure some where greater than solenoid can over ride ? reading all responses regarding wiring , don't see where bad wires would make a difference hot or cold .a relay or module ; yes . hope this topic has positive results ; i'm always eager to learn new.

opinion from an ole man based on simpler times. !-engine turns over =fuel pressure at line lower; is the engine turning over just as fast when hot as it does when it first started cold?? should the engine have a "weak "starter when hot turns engine over slower, results COULD be lower fuel pressure at injector lines. common sense would notice slower turning engine ; but common sense would also say :: DON'T hook a chain to front axle! just sayin. trying to cover all bases.

can't tell by the pictures if that's a silver or gold dog on hood and doors. front headlight insert has cut out for block heater. all in due time. hopefully we will see the specs. model/ serial #

with the manifold (has tooo big a hole ) still in place , use a slack adjuster bushing or bushing similar to fit in manifold hole . using a drill which fits snug in the bushing you install. this gives you a better chance of close center on broken stud. a good drill will center "mark " stud. then with a left-hand drill, drill through the stud. i have gotten away from using smaller pilot drills simply due to fact have had toooo many pilot drills break;; now you have to get broken drill out. have NOT found a drill bit that will drill out a broken drill bit. that includes the carbide tip drills used for drilling the many 5th wheels installed. also using the step-down drilling process a drill bit is using the outer edge of the drill not the entire cutting edge . each project is different. in terms of your project with manifold still installed can't see if any of the stud is sticking out beyond the head. if can't be drilled out then manifold removal and welder to rescue .

a good set of left=hand drill bits many times make the job easier. have seen people use right hand drill bit on broken stud which wasn't that tight. drilling to use easy-out will tighten broken stud. left-hand on occasion helps loosen. your situation, i'd let it go unless exhaust leak starts. extended exhaust leaking will act like plasma cutter and will channel a grove in manifold. drill center of broken stud / spray penetrating oil and run it engine heat with penetrating oil might help the cause.

when you build something yourself: car/truck etc there's more pride and satisfaction to the build. a car show in town had many owners who it was obvious knew little of their vehicles , just wrote out a big check to some one else. I had the great pleasure of working with another mechanic yrs back who owned a steel willy coupe = not a plastic rep . he built the eng / and complete car. I asked once why he didn't take his car to the town car show. his reply" they don't know anything about their cars just write a check then sit on a lawn chair.

I'm always (most time ) looking for parts inventory (1/25th scale). don't discard .

if you really pay attention to why " , turning the other way ;;;so they can open their pockets wider ($$$$) and "oh i missed that " just sayin

is that why vehicles considered not road worthy in these states go over seas to be run for yrs. their frame straightening technics might be different then here.
