    now don't be doin that teasin stuff; I have to get outside to continue building a carport; waiting for temp to get above 20 degrees .sadly the carport NOT big enough to fit an LTL Mack; on track again

    when it comes to pictures of beauty I study EVERY detail. some fortunate times the pictures are on two legs not just 10 tires !LOL

    sure wish I had met Mr Ed Kite. not sure date of this picture ; Mr Kite has to be a brilliant mechanic to do a repower listed. "homemade recipe " bet no computers involved just skill and brains. called old school knowledge. a mentor for sure.

    now for most normal people the phrase is " throw the dog a bone" ... looking at these pictures ; phrase is " these pictures of old Dogs give this ole man a bone(r), total works of beautiful machinery.

    He's a mechanic !! I thought bad knees/ back , came with the profession. i'm putting off replacement of two knees and two hips. maybe I should have been a mechanic working on those Canadian Scania units;;; how's that for back on topic.

    an R700 whether an S or L sporting the western grill and 3 1/2 twin pipes was the best. R700 having one 6 in pipe exhausting V-8 fumes acceptable either real or 1/25th scale makes the top 10 for me.

    not an expensive vacuum cleaner i hope!! I thought I did good with buying her a nice dust pan and quality broom! LOL , maybe the comment of " you can use the broom for taking trips also" wasn't good ?🙂

    amazing to read your post , didn't think any one remembers the (late) Jim Etter . I still have quite a few resin casting from A I M (Jim Etter). also collection of AITM (Dave Natale) conversation kits. spoke by phone many yrs back to Jim.

    updates ALWAYS appreciated ; thanks the DM685 S makes a lot more sense. the R350 didn't. '77vs '79. as with any restoration ;; in time it will all come together. DM=Dump/Mixer ==685 -maxidyne engine/transmission == S lighter chassis specs. updates including pictures makes answering questions also easier. S in model would indicate possible 34/44 rears . 55 would be SX. axles have cone caps or flat flange ?

    bottle jacks they were; brand =can't remember. the jacks became an option later yrs. Scovill manufacturing still ordered the jacks with the new trucks they bought even up to the R's in the '70's.

    when the pumper and tender were ordered brand new ; many spare parts were also ordered. possible reason that engine is still crated never used. While at the Mack dealer in CT, I went to Allentown for a week class on Mack fire apparatus ; quite a bit of time was spend discussing the pumper/tender of NY. considering that was 50 plus yrs ago= the pumper (like myself) weren't that old didn't need too many parts replaced . unlike now. LOL

    for years the government denied the existence of UFO's ; now to take attention away from government flying objects ;;; UFO's ARE REAL. a country once of leaders has become a country of laughter by rest of the world.

    they (government) don't need to capture one ; they are the ones putting the drones in the air. have to remember there is an inauguration very soon. they need to have major distractions and what better way to take out a new (threat) president by todays standards then to have a drone do it. like 9/11 and other disasters; government has to have some one to blame.

    issue was the S cam was in "backwards " in terms of the s operation going against drum/tire rotation. memory serves correctly it was only the front drive having issue. pull two tire sets /spread shoes(not remove) slide cam on driverside out switch with cam on passenger side. rear drive the brake chambers mounted opposite cam travel correct. simple factory screw up effecting ?// trucks nation wide ??

    In CT years back one construction co ==(Allen ) Beard construction had all trucks ;black/red which looked like circus wagons with the pinstriping and polish. also the was E Gasparri waterbury ct had the chrome and polish. they bought a new DM -didn't like the paint on the rims , so they pulled the 10 tires and repainted the rims. it had a recall for chattering brakes ( cams factory installed backwards ). they stood over me as I pulled axles and let me know " don't get a spot of oil on the rims!

    roll of gasket paper and small ball peen hammer ? another case when moving of " I'll never use all these gaskets, might as well throw em out!" had boxes of.

    keep in mind the wedges are NOT all the same; not only in design but wedge taper. can have different wedges on different wheels =should always attempt to have same style on same wheel.
