  1. just a thought from an ole man. i've found that using a FLAT punch on the wear ring ; tapping it in a number of spots as to expand the wear ring it will slide off. have also used the sharp chisel attack. sometimes the chisel sinks deeper than anticipated. have filled the resulting crease in crank hub with (back in the day) permatex .
  2. and if you call now with in the next ten minutes, we will send you a another rock absolutely free. LOL
  3. D8 another memory maker. did the cutting edge change in the gravel bank it worked at. 80-90 degrees no cover or air tools. flip the centers and change the corners. my back hurts just thinking of it.
  4. seems to me ; the crank hub is the same with or without the rear seal housing installed= based on the dinosaur days (my time slot ) . dial indicator mounts to the crank hub which is extended out from seal housing. the 1/8th + - extension is where the flywheel rest.
  5. times have changed . $600.oo for a tool !! i could justify it being in your work JoJo, a customers vehicle has to be right and the tool will be used more then once. a single use ;;look to borrow/rent one. or piece of pipe right diameter drill three hole on welded cap end so it bolts to crank for square pull on install. glad I'm out of the tool buying need.
  6. another tech advancement by sounds. rear main seal use to be a piece of babit . now there was a challenge; rolling that into the rear seal housing. trial and error in/out till it was perfect.
  7. have to be super cautious with the tapping. that flange cracks real easy; how do i know- been there done that. letting the parts soak in good penetrating oil will work. put the flange in a gal can leave it for a while. i'm sure todays world there are many adhesives for sealing. in the "dinosaur days" I used the stove pipe sealer. worked for a time.
  8. can tell this is a mack site ;; reading these post prove there are "some sick puppies" here ;;LMAO. pay attention how to go back on topic;;; I'm going to start up my generator to hook up the electric grill so I can bake my apple/ rhubarb pies. how's that 😂😁.
  9. when you get a call that is hard to hear (back ground noise etc ) then it clears up , someone says "can you hear me now "? NEVER EVER say -yes. they take your voice saying yes and you just bought who knows what. you saying yes is edited into a conversation asking if you want to buy the what ever. once again it's the "sorry grandkids " your world is rotten.
  10. anything is /was possible. 1= a 613 (odd number) diesel;;2- gas engine shouldn't require an engine / emergency shut down . just sayin. I like this forum sure helps keep the brain cell functioning. the brass shut off valve made real good air tank fill valves also. same 1/4 pipe thread. not sayin I took the emergency shut off valves from ole trade ins ; they just "showed up " in my toolbox 😁
  11. there is a possibility the emergency stop cable (left side ) is broke internally. move handle in cab then check position of other end at fuel inlet line to see if the lever changes position. if the cable is broke . definitely want to make sure the valve isn't partially restricting fuel to engine. would be a simple overlooked item if unit has loss of power.
  12. wasn't me this time ; I'm trying to be a good boy for 2023;; do have quick side note to R model with Chrysler ;; should have been R-400
  13. now that's a fine looking machine. back in the mack days , myself and another mechanic convinced the dealership owners to update their wrecker ('57 ? diamond T) . looked at a B75 with quad that was traded in . they wouldn't spring for the $$$. we ended up with a B61 unishift; not the best but better power then the 'T. thanks for the picture and all the rest. wish my neighbors looked like the ones car washing .. LOL
  14. racking the brain cells, there were back in the day units (Mack) with emergency shut offs ( besides DD). the cable ran to a brass valve threaded in to the injection pump between fuel inlet line and pump. like the hand primer pump , cost cutting / better Technolgy eliminated the emergency shut off. wager a bet following the left cable it comes out to the injection pump. the shut off valve removed with brass fitting installed or valve there with broken cable.
  15. handle on the engine stop a straight solid shank;; hand throttle shaft is a "splined" tooth so it can be twisted and locked into desired rpm setting. both knobs should have been on right side of dash one above the other.oops that's R model !! a cable control on left side ??? most controls were air or manual operate( front wheel limiter etc) . doesn't seem someone would go the time to run a spare cable assy (eng stop) for a non functioning throttle.
  16. did you trace the cable to find where the other end is connected? possibly someone used an eng shut off cable for some other function ??
  17. 611= 673 with roadranger ''' 686 = 300 plus with maxi torque trans ????????? maybe
  18. in todays sad world , can't ever let your guard down. this yard things are locked and covered. doesn't have to be a delivery driver or stranger who come in the yard. could be the guy in a coffee shop, etc sitting near listening to a conversation from someone couple seats over talking about your stuff that has the negative ideas. darn sad there are scum that read the obits in the paper seeing when the funerals are knowing no one home and time to rob the house.
  19. I found a toro zero-turn mower that way. saw it in neighbors back yard. walked over and asked when he was outside using another zero turn. "tires are always flat when i need it" I was told. short version ;I paid $800.00 for a 60 in zero-turn with rear bagger system ($3000.oo option) .put another $300.oo into it :: $25.oo for can of green slime, not $250.oo for new tires. tire haven't lost air yet. $1100.oo for a machine worth $8-9 K. some times it pays to stop and ask.
  20. defiantly a fun trip back and worth the time . lot of good pictures
  21. now why don't they use those pictures when I go for vision test instead of chase the blue dot and press the button!!!
  22. great video ; couldn't truly enjoy it yet. had volume down;; TV / wife in same room. LOL. bad habits still here guess; Hand moving as the shifting taken place. took a short while to realize video wasn't running backwards; driving done opposite side then USA.
  23. they were trying to give the driver some encouragement making him/her think they were driving a real truck.. LOL
  24. for me it was a sad day when I turned in my C D L license since I had it from the first year they came out ('69?). medical card almost impossible to obtain. the roads in CT are so bad to be on, i don't go driving unless necessary. doing 65 in a 50 and everyone is passing . couldn't justify the hassle to keep the CDL. the fun days are gone. may will be 72 ;darn all this time I thought I was 70! the mind is still there, just don't know where.
