  1. I feel bad for both '''BUT people this is NOT a competition we want to encourage . if a new topic is started let it be of unfortunate accidents of the PAST . not hey i can beat that . just sayin. I know I can contribute to this topic after 50 plus yrs ( we won't go there though)> grandson won't wear gloves today using a cut off wheel. " what does an old man know "
  2. If we could only go back to when that dash was brand new..simple gauges ; no computer indicators . voltmeter showing still has generator. guessing it's a birds eye view from the DM600
  3. YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO MAKE A GROWN MAN CRY LOL. I still think of all the DD parts (brand new ) I had and like you and many others said "i'm tired of moving this crap, i'll never use it" and over the bank it went. boy do I kick my ass now. so many people could have used the parts.
  4. been there done that; not to that extent. have a 2 1/2 in scar on right leg from cut off wheel that ripped through HD coveralls and pants. so many time the disc shield is in the way and I/we take it off. i use the super thin cut off wheels many times ;;not good. seeing all these unfortunate injuries I don't think I want to be a mechanic when I grow up. too late now ;but in the dangerous project with cut off wheels I wear a pair of welding gloves. hopes your recovery in speedy.
  5. now you have to be more specific : "these nuts coming loose"THERE ARE TOOOOO MANY NUTS COMING LOOSE TODAY"The yoke nuts coming loose is correct, . ;;;THANK YOU lol lol
  6. it's a wrap for me. have been home for 1 :45; haven't showered yet and early start tomorrow on trailer (hopeful)finish.
  7. I'll buy the beer if we receive an update with the actual cause after repair was made based on forum advise. 😄
  8. based on older units;to back off enough 1- the sender has to spin around a few turns; the attaching wires usually prevent a sender from making complete turns.2- original text states speedo is erratic 55mph it reads 35mph. even a bad wire harness would be speedo/ no speedo .
  9. I would think someone changing the sensor would ????should notice a loose nut (not the driver ) . and if it were loose enough to create a faulty speedo reading:: would it not also create a road vibration. ???? jus t wondering.
  10. I would call them ::: the good ole days ;;;
  11. a pair of vise grips on the plunger output shaft helps to take off return spring pressure when loosening the SERVICE brake clamp. fortunately the new brake chambers only have one removable brake can clamp. the fun days of changing an emergency side diaphragm.
  12. not tooo knowledgeable of these new units; BUT I would consider the speedo head if a new sender didn't resolve the issue, I am not a believer in (expensive) parts changing hit or miss. not much else in electronic system.
  13. the crack in the rubber intake hose isn't the best. the aluminum adapter on the compressor intake was part of an alcohol bottle chassis(firewall ) mounted canister which you added alcohol (NOT from a package store type) to ; the T fitting with 1/8 in plug in it should/ might have been where the air dryer line was installed. =I think ;long day and 100 proof yukon jack may be effecting response.
  14. THANK YOU I neeeded to read that,LOL just got back to the house after what should have been a 1-2 hr project on a dump trailer from 12 noon today, till now (8:45pm). and back tomorrow early to finish . before a grandson's birthday party in early afternoon.
  15. but to the "yuppies" UPS is the best because they are saving the environment.
  16. I know the diagram You posted was perfect. i was breaking b-lls in a positive comical way in regards to the statement 1/4 in line controls governor. which is 100% correct if as in this case the governor is mounted remotely from the air compressor. oldies like me are use to the more common of the day governors mounted to compressor. thus the 1/4 in line from gov to air dryer controls the air dryer.😁
  17. old school; doesn't get any better than that .🙂
  18. interesting if you take the time to read the technical specs on dryer install. the proper heat resistant line from compressor to dryer;; so many feet max from compressor to dryer ;; downward slope to air tank and a few others, yet check dryer installs from factory ; not many specs followed . ease of install seems the way.
  19. officer may have questioned the car inside to see if there was a car ; not illegal items. are you still running drag cars? what type. like everything else the computer cars of today don't seem as much fun as the funny cars of the '60's. they looked like cars not jets and 150 mph was better then300+
  20. OK class the teacher is testing us to see who is paying attention. the governor controls the operation OF the air dryer by the 1/4 in line. when the governor reaches set pressure (120lbs) it discharges air to the dryer by the 1/4 in line which in turn opens the discharge port of the dryer exhausting water/ moisture , this pertains to governors mounted on the compressor.
  21. once again YOU saved the best for last. I keep looking at them ;; wife might get lucky tonight.. LOL. yes he's a sick bas--d.
  22. if you are buying a new dryer, the diagram might be slightly different same principle. a new dryer should come with diagram for install
  23. check the diagram jojo posted. do you have a dryer installed yet?
  24. hope you didn't have to go in the shop in your jammies to have photo segment ; LOL.. impressive library
  25. that's why it was cheaper to exchange when time was concern. after it's all apart; install had those o-rings that leaked .
