  1. 6 volt ??? ; don't remember seeing. pos ground i'd say yes
  2. I put my coffee and doughnut on the jake solenoid . ??
  3. I sure hope Your not going "off topic"!!!😁; I'm calling my union steward :: I have seniority😊in that area of going off topic. LOL
  4. a shutterstat will work providing it opens at right temp for fan to kick on . before the computers took over ,a simple easy to install fan control was just an on/off switch in cab going to an electric over air solenoid having #4 air (1/4 plastic) line to fan hub. today's world much more technical. can't just take any power source . air valve in cab totally eliminates the computer ; bit more work to mount an air switch neatly in cab and run line to fan. not knowing for sure if the fan changing from on to off will kick signal to computer of engine problem ??
  5. that's why this DMM seems unusual. would feel better going there when someone is working on the house being built; then i would hopefully get permission to scope the DM out a lot better. didn't seem to have been a triaxle. possibly a mixer at one time having a body change
  6. NOW WAIT A DARN PICKIN MINUTE HERE ; this forum is like being married : I'M BEING ACCUSED of something I had NO part of ::: this time.. LOL🤣😇😇😇
  7. sure could use a welder set up for plastic now. i see why the front plastic bumpers are left on the sides of the road. after sanding/cleaning the epoxy I put on bumper last night doesn't stay. removed it ; waiting now for a different glue to hopefully hold. last resort i'm going to use the model glue. LOL her car not mine. final step a couple of 2x4's bolted to front. red neck style.
  8. auto darkening helmets are the "best thing since slice bread" . always Leary of them but have found more positive since owning one. the flip with 2x4 Lens ( didn't like the big lens helmet after 6-8 hrs steady had head aches) i had a tendency to move parts or weld handle too much when motion of flipping helmet. also auto was great in tight spaces. coke had those side bay delivery trailers with no room under side to flip a helmet ; and they always had broken something under neath.
  9. if that's what it does to plastic;; what are results when someone sprays it on their skin .
  10. issues like this is one of the main reasons i always cleaned the drain oil pan before removing the pan plug. have had my b-lls broke ;"why you washing out the drain pan"? because it let me know any foreign matter in that pan came from the engine i'm working on. have seen drain pans with so much crud from other stuff.
  11. WHERE IN CT ????? nice R model.
  12. don't feel bad; I can't post the things I had that I can't find anymore.😳
  13. sure hope at the DMV you didn't shift with your arm between the steering wheel!! around here (CT) take two hands off the steering wheel ;;; YOU FAILED> LOL imagine in todays world having twin stick and cell phone !!!! half youngsters could n't drive one; " I can't put my cellphone down " to shift two sticks.
  14. do remember separate wipers . no one knew back then to take pictures or to save everything . glad the new -fangle phones weren't there then == we would be in twice as much trouble in this country as we are now.. I would have rather seen more people with more cameras taking pictures.; just sayin .
  15. I was getting a little nervous ;; thought i would have to change my name to ::: offtopichaulic 🤣
  16. can't answer the paint color question ; my question (known as off topic ) is on that old fontaine 5th wheel how would you do a rebuild if the legs are welded to the slide plate. . center 2 in cross shaft looks a tag worn also. not a major deal many were welded on one end. some one on here will have your answer for paint.
  17. I thought I was only one questioning (in my head) the departure of so many senior members; many of which are up in rank 13/14 of 14. sometime back i asked about the number of log ins that logged on /off same day never to reappear. thought it was a scam dating site or something . alot seem to be around '16-'17. i've guessing this site came in to existence around '05 from some members profiles . I missed alot from passed topics i read.
  18. situation with a multi machine is some have too much trying to be done with one unit. yrs back I was given an airco ??? welder which was wire feed;( gas set up) and also a stick machine. looked a little dusty when i got it , with a little clean up and some blue miller paint it looked and worked excellent. and this is still on topic ==LOL
  19. steel covers : old R model etc era ; not alum new style .had solenoid "hump" in valve covers . 3 humps per cover = one for each solenoid. Dang::am I really that old; LOL. i'm not that old - technology is changing toooo fast. sounds better.
  20. your not alone. think that's why the shutterstats are stamped ;; inlet: who pays (paid) attention .
  21. front shutters almost always worked off engine temp' that was the purpose of the shutterstat mounted in coolant system. eng temp opened and closed the air to the front shutters. took air to close the shutters. in the event a problem arose there was a brass shut off valve mounted on fire wall #4 aeroquipt line going to shutterstat which could be closed taking air away from front shutters keeping them open.
  22. give it time; a lot of excellent knowledge from the Fire dept guys on here. good luck .
  23. the "hump"covers go back to early dynatard days; don't thing they were even 4 valve. EACH exhaust rocker had a solenoid if I can remember. 7/8= 15/16 thin lock nut, a tool basically a flat scrapper was used to adjust valve . another very important step I forgot. the early dynatards valves HAD to be adjusted in proper order. on many non-dyna engines if say #1 cyl was at TDC a random number of cyl could be adjusted, a complete valve adjust could be done in 2 spins. with the EARLY dynas the front crank damper had the timing marks which had to be followed. a cyl adjusted would have an exhaust cyl that appeared "way out "of adjust when eng rotated. cam lobes . challenging times after many new dyna engines came in for rocker push rod up dates and no one was there to explain the double lobe cam. adjust a cyl rotate for next cyl and previous cyl exhaust way out of adjust. didn't know it was made that way. rotate back to the cyl adjustment was perfect. in most responses i post it's based on the very early days .
  24. It seemed unique to me also; that's reason for chancing going on property to get picture and vin. most hazardous part was having my wife in the car . LOL
  25. for the frame drilling, I had a number of 2x4's 0r other that fit perfect on the rails to take the kick from the drill. once i was out and the boss had two older mechs attempt a fifth wheel mount. one guy from Trinadad little shorty; not paying attention when the drill caught he was standing on the rails at the time. they said it threw him to the other bay. he never did another wheel; darn good mech though. told me how to "hone " the sleeves of the war ships, they lowered him into the cyl with a crane and some emery.
