  2. I see you logged of. I just posted a topic for wheels of time magazines  . are You interested? not selling ; looking for them to have a new owner. Dave in CT

  3. I have 32 wheels of time magazines ( given to me).that i would like to pass on . 7 of which are collector show time ; highlighting different show, covering yrs '03/'11/'12/'13/'15/'16/'18. basic magazines are from 2015 (2);2016(3);2017(5); 2018 all 6; 2019 first four ; 2020 (4) and 2021 (sept/oct). seems a past topic someone was looking for some. entire lot is heavy. would ship in separate boxes. don't want any $$ just someone interested. located in CT. I will deliver if going to CT interested party
  4. another day of learning , looking at the Mack branches of 1946; didn't know waterbury was in operations as a Mack dealer . started as a gas station.
  5. using a 60in zero turn, grass cutting is a 5 hr venture, if I do my section (we rent ) and the landlords yard ; part of a 12 acre place. gas doesn't stay too long. 3 five gal cans and 3 two gal cans . small 2 gals for 2 cycle equipt. was interesting before I smarten up and labeled the 2 cycle mix can. on the list is rotate the gas ; time goes by too fast. generator sits .
  6. you are joking !!! just picturing the moment .i have done my share of track ;under carriage replacement ;;;; NOT that way LOL . that liquid wrench was almost always near by . D-8 cutting edge at the gravel bank 90 degree Sunday torch no air wrench : once again the 1in breaker bar. i see todays tracks are a "piece of cake ". one pad , four bolts the track separates. no more find the link pin rotate the track so pin near ground . had a 1 in pin welded to a long pipe. one held the pipe another swung the 20lb sledge.
  7. gas tanks full or empty is a matter of opinion ; positive/ negative to both ; ideal situation is partial tank of gas with additive in gas. tank with todays crap gas : gas goes sour, empty tank seals; gaskets in carb dry out.
  8. hope wrench was only a reference ; LOL . the one inch drive breaker bar with 2 3/4 impact socket stood the test =some what. biggest challenge was ;; do I put it in first or reverse to loosen the nut. every thing fell to the ground and it was secured very well to frame. best part i was in cab safe from flying parts. it's called one nut trying to loosen another.
  9. might want to pull it outside and let it run now and then. time flies and the gas might go "sour"; and the mice always find a home in the wire compartment when things sit too long.
  10. owner of the tractor did a lot of research recently. turns out this operation has 4 web sites. i'm out the 1200.oo due to i was working on the JD with hopes of buy it from owner. any $$ i put in to it would be deducted from tab. now the JD1450 sits in the shop split in half taking up space
  11. yes he owned the ford chassis made into a dump too .
  12. you haven't had any fun till you try and change a clutch in a DM600 having a quadbox outside using a 10x10 car jack on a piece of plywood.
  13. same one and ONLY guy. he had an old (yes it was old back then too) white without a defroster . CT to NY winter. He was also the same that loaded a cable shovel on the back of loadbed =lifted the tractor off the ground and away they went. no brakes on the trailer. He like many of the older generation unfortunately are gone. won't write the story of taking a ford straight truck (long chassis) and making a short wheel base dump with two P T O's. outside in the summer heat March-aug. that one will have you pis---ng your pants 😂
  14. pulling a transmission (can't call it a trans anymore LOL) out of a DM800 , the yoke nut was soo tight I put a 1in breaker bar strapped to the frame on the nut started truck and put in gear slowly letting out the clutch. one h--l of a noise = did the trick. transmisson was one of the largest machine shop master ever saw. twin stick 6 speed with bell housing PTO . cement truck
  15. I'm unfortunately learning a lesson about e-bay transactions lately. only $13.00 for a pilot bearing that never showed up.someone always ruins a good thing. the 13 i can deal with ..a word of wise; DON'T DO ANY BUSINESS with a web with monkey as part of title. won't print actual. they "deal with tractor; truck; auto parts. ag goes in front of monkey.com. I'm out 1200.oo for a john deere clutch that never showed up from 3 weeks ago.
  16. with the fuel filters fuel of CLEAN fuel; remove cap on fuel tank air hose and rag in filler; with LOW air pressure ;pressurize the tank. have two tanks use the one that does NOT have the return hose. one tank have to disconnect return hose ,cap the line to tank (use vise grip pliers). fuel shut off in run position.sometimes pedal down and this is done with the engine OFF> many times the hand pump is more of a hassle. have seen the lock screw loosen and primer is bouncing up and down with fuel leaking . it was helpful back then to keep a couple hand primers in the toolbox for those road calls . doesnt do much good now though.
  17. The yellow B / v-8 defiantly has my vote also. in the day the V-8 had a great sound without putting 7=8 in pipes on it. great pictures JOJO.
  18. smart man ; some of us never learn ;;LOL
  19. if you have access to shop air ,i would remove line on the seat =hook shop air to line - shop pressure should make things easier to hear/ find.
  20. be a lot worse than being in the grocery store when loud speaker says " clean up isle 5". might be someone "speed shifting" at high speed would find the episode humorous and laugh not fill their shorts; unless they owned it and were trying for that extra trip.
  21. now that would make a noise 😁
  22. agree ALOT of it i don't want to think about,, not the work as much as how the work came before family. still see a little 6/7 yr old girl (my daughter) staring at me one day saying;; mommy who is that man. She's 49 now and i still apologize to Her for being such an ass--le.
  23. think I got off topic ;; sorry. might be a good title for odds and ends ====remember when
  24. If only a "round the camp fire "group can get together for the ;; remember when stories. can laugh till the tears roll. just didn't seem funny when they took place .LOL clutch job on loaded ford dump in snow on side of the road= owner didn't want to pay for wrecker.;; steering box change on KW K100 upstate NY during ice storm; trip to maryland for alternator change . road calls back then covered the east coast:: CT to PA,MD> virginia, maine. no GPS or cell phones. the knees, hips, back remind me of the memories every day..
  25. quick short version of learning experience with trans gearing. a company i did work for had F-model /twin stick 10 trans old steel tank hauling pool water . going up a steep hill road. the "ace"went to shift and missed. rear half trans blew wide open. neighbors called the cops " a big truck spiling gas on the road; it was pool water. truck in small shop, owner goes up street to competitor steels a 10 speed laying outside. they had a party to go to. with a backhoe i pulled trans alone - they looked the same ; made one out of two. lost count of trips from backhoe to truck lining up trans to eng. had to run next day. point is next day "mr . hotshot" bitc--d about the difference in shifting . back half gears didn't do well with front half.LOL
