The point I was trying to make is the buyers were willing to pay 10% more than what is shown.. That auction is representative of what I was originally saying. I never speculated a $25,000+ price. I guess at the end of the day I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. The OP asked what we thought it was worth. I firmly believe that KW would fetch $15,000 or maybe a little more. It would most likely take a little more effort than posting a for sale add with 5 pictures on Craigslist. Like I said someone else here offered $10,000 without even seeing it in person.

Its funny how Jersey is good with 70,000 on 3 axles but in PA you need 4. -
Swap Mack T318LR tranny for Eaton 18 tranny
67RModel replied to Vac-Daddy's question in Mack Truck Q & A
The Mack transmission might seem more expensive than the Eaton on the surface but I can almost guarantee it would be cheaper, all things considered, to just replace what you have. Either by overhaul or just getting a reman unit. Call Weller or similar order exactly what you have delivered to whatever shop you use. Once it gets in they can have it swapped out and everything switched over in a day and you can be back to work the next. Then send your old one back as a core. I would forget about the Eaton in your case. -
Another thing to note is this auction had a 10% buyers premium so the final cost to the buyers 10% higher than the posted selling price.

I didn't get a chance to watch the auction ending and just seeing the results now. Five figures? Hmmm..... Looks to me like these were all pulled out of a garage and not a lot of prep work was done prior to sale. I'll stand by my statement the C500 Kenworth that started this thread could be sold for $15000 or maybe a little more with the proper prep and marketing. Heck another forum member offered $10,000 for it having only seen 3 pictures of it.....

I think later on the gas engines were renamed Magnadyne....

Yes in my experience your wasting your time as a seller operating this way.

Lets reconvene in 2 or 3 days and see what lots 1, 4, 5, 6, & 7 sell for. Sheesley Vintage Truck Collection - Aumann Auctions, Inc.

I disagree. What it sells for is what its worth. I am confident if that truck were properly advertised and consigned at the proper auction house it would sell for $15,000 or more. Buyers / sellers fees aside the hammer price would be that or better. Thats all I'm saying

Never mind I didn't look before I posted that. Looks like there are no freebies anymore.

This. Junk Sells For $5000. That truck will bring $15,000 all day and on the weekends. Also, you don't even need to be a member of ATHS to put a classified on ATHS backlot. Can be done by anyone online. At least for wanted ads. Maybe for sale is different. But i remember posting on there before I was a member.

I watch and participate in a lot of auctions. If shined up and properly advertised that sucker would bring $15,000. I would say $20k tops. Its definitely going to go to a collector or hobbyist. I doubt there are many out there who would actually press that old girl into real work. Plus its Paccar with a Cummins and "normal transmission". More people are interested in those specs than the old time Mack powertrains. Christ literal scrap antique trucks often times sell for $3000 - 4000. Something that clean, unique, and mechanically sound is going to bring mid to upper teens. Its not 1985 anymore.....

B model jacks

Its hard to beat spokes if you want to be self sufficient and do your own work in a more or less shade tree scenario. -
They belong to the government plain and simple. All the government agencies say they don’t belong to them. When a government man is talking, he is lying. No different here. What they are for? Use your wildest imagination. Your probably not far off….

Yes home heating use is now an almost minuscule percentage of anthracite usage. Mostly all goes to coking and metallurgical uses.
-
Maybe the best thing about coal is PA doesn't collect tax on it for home heating use.
-
I still burn anthracite for heat. Nothing like it in the world. Bulk is $375/ton around here now. Bagged is over $400.

Video about a 1979 Superliner
67RModel replied to DavCut's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I think the Scania was just offered in the 400 and 600 Series DMs and R models. More power than 150. More like 190 or 210 I think. -
Video about a 1979 Superliner
67RModel replied to DavCut's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I saw this Superliner at the auction and knew it was special. I was thinking the same thing he was in that it was very poorly advertised. I thought about sending the information along to Danny Thomas out in Oregon since its a Western Mack and so "rare" but I forgot about it and then ran out of time. I'm not a huge Superliner fan or a fan of vendor engine Macks so it didn't interest me too much but I knew it was special and would bring some hefty money even though it wasn't well advertised. I was surprised to see it pop up in the background of Sam's videos about a month or so ago. I have met Matt before when I was selling some old cat D2s, D4s and a cable job D8 but never met Sam before. They both live pretty close by to me. I was kind of surprised when I heard him say he was considering modifying the chassis and switching out the hubs. Other than paint/lettering, swapping the steer tires to tubeless, or all 10 to tubeless if he's going to work it a bit, modifying anything on that truck would be a crime IMO. -
I would not call it a steal but that is a heck of a good price considering he drove it to the Cortland show. You can't buy anything for less than $3500 anymore and lets be real. A $3500 truck ends up costing you $15,000 before you can even take it around the block once....

Here are two at an auction ending tomorrow. Could probably win them for $20. I highly doubt anyone is going to bid on those old dinosaurs lol. I see your in Michigan so it probably not worth your time but I just saw these the other day and remembered them when I saw your post. I'm not sure what rim width is specified for a 385mm tire or how 18-22.5 relates to a 385 metric but I imagine these would be wide enough and appear to be for tubeless. Lot #290 Joe R. What Engine Is This?
67RModel replied to 67RModel's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That is interesting. Honestly, that engine doesn't really look like the other Scania engines I have seen in Macks before, which have been very limited. The ones I have seen in early 80s R models If I remember correctly had 3 separate heads. This version seems to have a single head. Also, I thought the Scanias were a late 70s, 80s thing. Didn't realize they existed back in '73. Interesting. Those two DMs would be neat to have just because of the uniqueness of them. The frames and chassis are in near perfect condition and they will probably sell for next to nothing. -
5.13 vs 6.14
67RModel replied to mack31's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yes. going to a shorter, smaller diameter tire will result in lower top speed and more pulling power at equal rpms. By how much you would need to know the revs/mile of a 1200 tire versus an 1100 series and then run your calculation. That information is published by the tire manufacturers..... -
Didn't know where to put this one. Here or in the for sale section. This 1973 400 series DM is coming up for auction in a few weeks. There is actually a pair of them this 73 and a 74 but they are specd the same. They are DM487Sxxxx. I don't think I have ever seen this engine before. I think this was well before the times you could get a Scania so what is this? Also these trucks have a strange Eaton 13 speed I have never seen before. They actually have 15 different gears but 13 progressive. RT6613... 1973 MACK DM400 | Online Auctions | AuctionTime.com 1974 MACK DM400 | Online Auctions | AuctionTime.com

This 1956 B-61 Dump just sold today for $6000. I thought that was a pretty good buy. The truck looked excellent from the photos. Didn't seem like there was a lot of interest in it. Just two guys going back and forth on it.
