  1. its a dry liner engine, so why do you have to cut the counter bores? theres no coolant to keep secured. if the issue is liner height, did they measure the protrusion? if it is low, you can buy shims.. Heck, i forgot... is the liner pulled?
  2. I respect all of what you say, and the Nostalgia is Great!!.. If you buy an E-9... put it in your toy truck. and take it to shows and parades.. In the money maker.. ''6 In a Row Makes it Go!!'' I learned that phrase 2 years ago, when I picked up a Super liner 4 hours away and drove it to my customer.. He bought it, I was the picker/upper guy..
  3. sorry bud... I don't know..
  4. E-9's came in super liners.. I'm partial to you just fixing the 2 valve and going back to work..
  5. It's obvious that I am not Brilliant... But I watch the fake news every day. Heres a thought... since drugs and money and assets are confiscated by law enforcement at the southern border. why dont we take the drugs and drop them back over the border so they can be trafficked again and keep grabbing them and the money. and assets, then divide the money and assets, between ALL first responder departments and the local Hospitals,.. I mean, since J.B. has opened the border for ALL to come and soak up what our country has worked for, and get it for free.. just another one of my crazy thoughts..
  6. Sad... and disrespectful.
  7. So he died Tomorrow???
  8. if the sender is grounded to the tank, it may not be grounded to the truck.. because of the tank strap insulators. just for kicks, hook a jumper cable to the fuel cap or cross over valve and to the frame or neg. on the battery and see if it clears up.. Just having a little fun with this one,, Jojo
  9. Oh my F'n word.. well I did one almost a year ago.. Do you remember my pics of my burned legs?? its a short video, and shows the Idiot that I am.. I used the wrong bottle of fire juice.. My Legs get burned.url
  10. Thanks Bob.. I will work on it between the 2 engines I have in the shop. I usually use Sunday for Me and My Girl.. As far as the engine, I may just look for a 4 stroke 50+ H.P. engine.. I expect it will be around 3 G's, but with the cost of boats today,, It may be the right direction.. Hope you are having a Swinging weekend... Jojo
  11. I guess, what I mean by cracking the spit valve, is literally just enough to spit water,, To me that leak is less than all the other leaks on the whole truck an/or trailer.. as far as cycling the compressor too much,, its is a good point, but I think with a healthy system, it's ok.. Like I said, just my opinion.. here in my area, the air is always humid..
  12. I agree with a lot of the posts, Bob.. I have been picking on my boat that sank 11 years ago. Its a small boat, but its a cool little boat. I had to shovel out the dirt, and leaves and pecan tree sprouts out of it, the whole floor is rotted. I removed the old floor and have cleaned it pretty good.. yes, the floor needs a lot of help, but I will get it done. I will re-enforce the hull, then put 2 sheets of pressure treated ply wood on it, one as a sub floor and then the one that will have the carpet on it.. My big challenge is, do I re-biuld the 1969 mercury gas hog that was on it 65 HP 4 cyl. 2 stroke..
  13. Uhhh,,, I wonder who you might be thinkin' of ?? OK,,, It's Me !!
  14. I always thought that leaving the spit valve cracked open a little bit on the wet tank, is actually better than an air dryer. I also thought that I had too much water in air tanks, and done too many repairs to dryers in short intervals. Not to take away from regular pulls on the air tank cables when fueling, and at the end of the work day.. but just my opinion.
  15. Can you post a picture of the fan clutch.? And if it's an air clutch, a picture of the brass celenoid on the radiator frame?
  16. I did a bunch of work in Jan. 2022 on a few '87 Super liners. Here is an E-6 4 valve, picture. I hope it answers your question.. Jojo
  17. I am always amazed at how big and strong the Mack's in your country and New Zealand look, and with the freight behind them.. I wonder what it would be like to drive those loads in your world.. Awesome!! Jojo
  18. If it's a CH. Pull the floor pan, then pull the stick out, 4 bolts for a Mack tranny, 6 for an Eaton/ Meritor then put the shift forks in neutral. Look for rounded square slots on top of the shift forks. They are suppose to be square with sharp edges.. they get rounded over time due to not shifting a correct 'H' pattern, basically sliding the shifter in a 'Z' pattern.. good luck..
  19. If it is an old Mack, I know that I have made repairs for this reason, a few times. typically related to wear on the shift tower and slots in the forks which allow the end of the shifter to slip out of a fork and into another fork before disengaging the first fork, hence, '' in 2 gears at one time''
  20. can you post the truck model and tranny model? any info you can post and pictures will speed this along.. Welcome to the Dog Pound... Jojo
  21. I worked on an E-6 2 Valve for a customer, today.. Here is some part numbers for you. I dont know if you need this info, but I will post this and other parts as I work on this 2 Valve.. P.S. I can sub-out my helper if you need some help. She (my wife) has helped me build somewhere near 10 engines..
  22. I'm not sure if you need this part number, but it is for E-6 2 Valve studs/ 20 bolt heads. jojo
  23. that video is amazing and very sad.. its like those drivers were not looking any further ahead, then over the edge of the hood. Here on I-85 its no different. I'm glad that I dont need to use the Interstates anymore.
  24. of my limited knowledge slows me down, but to me the 4 valve was smoother steady power. E-6 is 672 c.i. and E-7 is 728 c.i. I also drove a few different E-7's when I was a driver for a construction company. looking back, it was pretty impressive the way those Macks pulled 100,000 + out of the pits and down the road. We were always illegal grossing up 120,000 lbs. the old '79 R that I drove was pulled over by ''The Man'' he weighed me, 120,000 lbs, he made me dump the dirt at a local car lot.. anyway, They are tough.
  25. Ive got a short amount of time driving an E-9, but a couple years in an E-6.. personally, I would stick with the E-6.. I am by no means a super trucker or Guru,, but as a mechanic, the E-6 can do a good job... and it is still repairable. J.M.O. Jojo
