  1. Are you doing all the work? Or do you have a local shop? I have been out of Maine for 17 years, and don't know who fixes Macks anymore..
  2. The fuel spray looks good, (by my eye).. has the oil level been rising? Anyway... Pull the nozzle...
  3. DCW, You got it!! I said it in my head 10 times to try to figure out how to type the way they talked . 🤔🤣
  4. You need to pull it and check it and a pop test if there is nothing obvious.. if you wash a cylinder, your done..... That will have to be repaired, and a lot goes in to doing only 1 cylinder..
  5. If the nozzle has a cracked tip, it will flow too easily. Low injection pressure.
  6. That waths Cool... Did he just Score?
  7. That sounds really good.. I prefer them to be out of the chassis.. I have built many in the chassis.. Are you familiar with measuring liner protrusion, and inspecting the counter bore, machining the counter bore if needed, and then properly shimming the liner to spec, and setting all the liners to within .002"? I am asking, so I can get an idea of your knowledge.. With respect, Jojo
  8. Are you doing an in frame? How do you plan on removing the crankshaft? I suggest you drop all 13 caps, one at a time and look for crank damage, before you go any further.. PAI. Kits are really good. I have built at least 10 Macks with their parts, and I have 2 more in my shop now.. I also suggest that you get REAL INTIMATE with the CORRECT WAY to run the valves... If you run them like Cat or John Deere does, you Will be doing the cam and lifters all over again.. one minute after you crank the engine around.. There is a bunch of us here with good info. And several posts about these AC engines... Jojo
  9. Ive gotton to meet a lot of drivers that came from an Eaton tranny, and go to a Mack Tranny, and had a bit of a learning curve. They said it was not as smooth to shift.. That's an understatement..
  10. Oh Hell.. DCW.. you nailed it.. I bet I'm the only guy here that double clutches...
  11. Yep, Good luck getting someone to know what an EUP cal. Code is
  12. Check the wires coming to EUP.. they tend to run against the engine and short out, and they can crack as well. Start there, and keep your wallet closed while we guide you.. If the wires look good, check the big plugs on the EECU for pin damage. If that is good, you can swap #4 EUP, with another, easy to get to, EUP, and see if the code follows the EUP.. if you do remove the #4 EUP. Pull the roller lifters out and inspect the roller, guide pin and cam lobe.... Jojo
  13. Have you checked the ground connection at the tail lights. Those air switch sockets have a ring that needs to be pushed in, and held in, so you can remove the switch. You should be able to join the 2 wires for the brake lights to see if they stay on. Without removing the switch. If they don't, I would look for a bad wire.. no air pressure is needed for jumping the wires..
  14. Ditto !! 🎂🥳
  15. Stemco Voyager series is decent.. one pc. style, rubberized O.D. easy to install when the correct driver is not available..
  16. Yes sir.. we would write any stored codes per/ test ECU, on the ECU with a paint pen, so that it would not fool us to think there are other issues in the truck we are diagnosing.
  17. Happy Birthday Brocky!!! 🍻

  18. the area that the wear ring was on, needs to be buffed clean and inspected for chisel marks, pitting, and small dents on the horizontal face.. if it is clean and not damaged, you can use a seal that can be installed without special tool's. A Stemco voyager can be installed with care using a piece of flat stock and a mallet. CR and National make an OK seal that should be installed with the correct driver. a seal driver may be home made using a PVC pipe large enough to fit O.D. of the seal.. I dont know what size you need.. just a thought that i have..
  19. we used to use ECU's for diag in the shop.. the base program is good.. good luck.. you did say the EUP lobe on the cam is good?
  20. I believe in the 2 pc. stemco seal.. when it is installed with the proper tool's... For those that have figured out a different way to do it, I mean NO disrespect..
  21. Or a rag sucked into the intake port ask me to show you???
  22. You Go MarkT!!!
  23. yes to elec. cleaner.. (Contact Cleaner) that is sensor safe..
  24. I didnt care for the di-electric grease either..
