  1. let me clarify... no computer operating the fan clutch.. yes, when they are gunked up, they dont work right.. his is only 8 months old... so maybe it needs to be cleaned and then re-tested... sorry, I'm new when it comes to an E-Tech....
  2. no computer.... just mechanical operation.. Rare these days...
  3. they will turn by hand when cold, and yes, with engine running, they are engaged until they warm up a little, them they are controled by the heat off the cooling pac (radiator, c.a.c., A/C condensor) .. I guess we are saying the same thing in different ways.. jojo
  4. Onyx.... sir.... He has a viscous fan, not an air op fan.. sorry bud...
  5. should not move the belt. ever... if belt tension is correct
  6. the viscous clutch has resistance when cold but will turn.. they hum during warm up, then drop out when the clutch warms up... then when 185 degrees or more if running A/C, comes through the radiator, the pigtail on the front opens up and engages the fluid into the clutch inside the assembly.. serp belt?? -or- no tensioner, alt is on a banana bar?
  7. The viscous fan clutch is one of the best ones... When you say it stays engaged all the time, do you mean for 10 - 15 while the engine warms up? and does it fade in and fade out as you drive? they start out a bit stiff when cold, but as they warm up they loosen up, and then when heat comes off the radiator, the pigtail on the front grows and allows the oil inside to pass through the veins to grab a hold of the clutch and make the fan rigid, until the air coming in cools off... they are self adjusting.. jojo
  8. Hell Yeah !!! O.D.
  9. Bob,,, I wash my glasses in the sink, a drop of Dawn between my fingers and ..... Vwalla.... I can see again..... jojo
  10. yes sir... and the power leash engine brake in the ASET engines can do it when an oring fails under the celenoid..
  11. I bet you are right.. Myself,,,, In my mind was questioning how the truck ran good for 20,000 + miles, and now this? A sticking celenoid could happen during that time frame. and I did ask about an overspeed on the engine, but since this doesnt have a VECU, he cant find that info... anyway,,, you need to be on this thread... jojo
  12. I am only here since 4/20.. no pun intended... truth is..... all the guys here are great! Yes I have upset a couple guys, part of it was my krass post's, and part of it was that they didnt accept an apology. But In all... A great place to be here at BMT.. the help and info that is given freely, is many times more than what they would get from a dealership, and many shops.. Jojo
  13. I hate I missed that... just to be a fly on the wall..
  14. never... I luv u...
  15. Coffee?????
  16. Hey there Bob,, If you go back to the begining, he listed all that was done.. I'm still not sure what happened, as are a few others.. jojo
  17. I was wondering about something like that. I didnt have any water in the cylinders during storage, yes some moisture got to the deck, but it practically wiped right off. I did use some 320 cloth to shine it up, and it came out great. I still have to pull that liner, no way that I would let stay.. a new muzzle loader kit is about $250.00.. jojo
  18. No,, Thanks for asking.. I have been busy with my J-O-B, and taking care of my own trucks and the house.. I probably wont get back to it for a couple weeks. I have a customers Mack Quad Dump truck coming to my shop next weekend.. I promise I will update, with pictures as well.. jojo
  19. the gear train on the front of an E-7 is pretty stout.. jumping time would have caused issues in all cyl's. and i would expect watery eye's on the mechanic that is standing in the raw fuel cloud trying to figure out what went wrong... just sayin'
  20. But how did it run good for 20-25 thousand miles til now??? poor cam timing should be instantly noticed.. Please correct me, for I dont know..
  21. Page 1, now I am back to an overspeed..
  22. I think he said it ran for 20,000 + miles before this issue came about.. Now I have to go back to the begining to see...
  23. it can happen.. when the piston comes up on the compression stroke, it becomes an air pump.. in this case 15:1 compression, it can certainly blow a chunk of metal into the intake or the exhaust manifold.. jojo
  24. yeah checking spring pressure in this case is a stretch.. The machine shop probably didnt check them either... the engine is already taken down to a point where the issue may have been passed by, however, he has a large skillset and I expect he will find the issue... I dont see where he test drove the truck to duplicate the issue, so I guess he is going on the driver's story... jojo
  25. I get it... no biggie... I try to go back to the beginning if i feel i am off topic.. i have done it tonight on 2 threads.. it goes to show how we will go to any length to help these guys..
