  1. it kicks butt !!! It's the only style I have ever used at the Mack dealership, so when I started building engines in my Road service, I bought one.. They are $1000.00, and worth every penny to me.. jojo
  2. I have a great liner puller, and I can always run a few beads of weld in it to shrink it.. The other 5 are fine, Phewwww....
  3. Hey 'C' If they put you in another truck with camel back's,, Just for kick's,, reach in to the top of the boxes and try to wiggle the upper pad's. and look to see if the rubber from the lower pad's is sticking out or barely visible.. If the uppers move, the lowers pad's are 'shot!'.. Just curious, are they going to replace your ruined underware?? jojo
  4. I used 320 emery cloth to clean it up, and it is actually a recess, pitted, somehow.. I'm afraid it will brake a ring.. I guess, my question is more about has this been seen before, and is it possible the counter bore has an issue? I did NOT install the liners, so I have no idea about counter bore condition.. I guess I will pull the piston out and check the rings.. Good to hear from you Bob... jojo
  5. Hey guy's.. I had this E-6 machined and new liners installed 2 years ago. I installed the cam and pistons a year and a half ago, then had to stop to do other engines for this customer. I had the engine on its stand, I kept it covered and lubed and every once in a while I would wipe it down and spray lube all over it and inside of it.. sometimes I would roll it over a bit.. So today I am back on it, and was cleaning the deck, and cylinders, when I found this.... I know I need to replace the liner, what gets me is how this happened, since I have kept up with it, and kept it clean an free of moisture..
  6. I just got new glasses 6 months ago.. . Too funny.. I decided to delete my opinionated posts, so as not to offend or look like an A$$.. those boxes are worn thin, and that suspension has been bad for years.. I have never seen a box brake like that on a truck that wasn't wrecked.. The best part is that no one was hurt by an out of control truck.. hats off the the driver for keeping it upright... Jojo
  7. I'm out of 'likes'. That is awesome..!!
  8. I have to do some cleaning on it today,, I have kept it lubed and covered, but as you can see, a little light rust made it's way in.. jojo
  9. Hey Craig, The funny thing is i'm going to get back on the E-6 that has been in the back of my shop (un-touched) for over a year.. Here is a picture of liner hold down bolts. be sure to keep the washer off of the raised part of the liner, any dent will cause a compression leak.. If the washer is too big, just put it on the bench grinder and take it down a bit.. jojo
  10. Yep... coolant line to the air compressor... easy fix... jojo
  11. dammit Onyx... I cant see what that symbol is..
  12. 'C'.. you are surrounded by some of the smartest people when it comes to Mack trucks, and if you do a small amount of research you will find that there is a tremendous amount of knowledge about many other truck model's.. Now.. My Opinion stands.. I have been doing this for 24 years, and the pic's I saw spoke to me... poor inspections and maintenance.. If that Offend's you, I will not offer an apology.. I made a living putting SAFE truck's on the road, and No MAN will ever tell me the opposite.. With that said... Please use this Website for your need's.. All of us will certainly help you the best way we can.. It is truly a 'Brotherhood' here and all are welcomed.. For real.... Jojo
  13. by the way.. Not only is the carrier loose and leaking, but you need a brake job too... Just sayin'. jojo
  14. Hell,, We use 'saw dust'.... in the noisy rear ends... Well, not me, just the story tellers...
  15. I guess that's kin' to using 'Motor Honey' in an engine that burns oil??? jojo
  16. Oh My Sufferin' Christ !!!!!
  17. I think what happens is when the engine runs HOT, the rolled o-ring can form a bulge in the thin liner at the spot where the o=ring is rolled, therefore, causing the cylinder bore to be reduced,, then,,,, well the piston rings dont fit good inside an egg shaped cylinder, and then the skirt grinds the shaving made by the rings, and well... you get what was shown in the picture... at least that is my take on it.. jojo
  18. I beleive you, but the last time I checked, the only thing going into the engine was air and fuel, if not fuel injected..
  19. ok... Well I was curious... I think I will just stick to what I know, and read the instructions when I do an engine that is new to me... Thank's, Jojo
  20. What is your opinion Glenn?? I trust your knowledge.. Just curious... Jojo
  21. I ask this about paint, but the 3 John Deere, 3179's I built in the last year, had head gaskets with a thin layer of clear silicone. When placing the head down, you are NOT allowed to shift the head for alignment when it is on the deck.. Crazy thing is the line up bolts that you need to use are smaller diameter than the bore's in the head, so movement is still possible.. I tested this with a new head gasket that was kinked in the box, and I'll be damned.... the slightest movement, pealed the silicone of with ease.. anyway, I'm just B.S.'n..... Jojo
  22. Aluminum Paint??? Hmmm.... That is a new one for me.. Did it work, without causing leaks? I assume the painter had to be smooth and made no runs.. Just curious.. I was always taught to install them DRY.... Jojo
  23. Well I got the harness fixed up and cleaned. I only had to solder in one plug, and fix a few of the EUP wires where they chaffed through. I ohm'd the wire's,,, all good.. I took all the loom off and washed the dirt out with elec. cleaner spray, then wiped with clean cloth wetted with brake cleaner, and the wires looked really clean and the numbers didnt rub off.. Re=Wrapped with new loom, and such.. It is tedious, but since the harness is sometimes on national back order, and I think it is now $1200.00.... It was worth the effort.. OK,,,, there's my shop talk.... Who's next?? Jojo
  24. Have fun... Looking forward to more pic's.. jojo
