  1. I'm no pro, but you reckon the hubs have a seal in the middle, and the wheel bearings are packed with grease, like a B-Model?
  2. Hmmm? Don't see why 80W90 would be wrong.. you reckon, the climate you are in should dictate? As well as oil change intervals... Synthetic oil wasnt around when it was born.. jojo
  3. yeah,,, UPS and USPS, had the pedestals on the hood's, but no Pup's.. That one looks like about a '96.. I worked on a lot of these many years ago... No 'Pup's' On the hood.. and the grill doesnt have MACK on it either... Those that were spring ride, were noisy to drive... Clackity Clack Clack... Now i'm thinkin 'bout the old USPS cab overs I used to drive to and from, to get them to the shop, then back to their yards.. Single 'x' tractor, real short wheelbase, Allison 5 or 6 spd. 55 mph tops. and I always thought If I had to slam on brakes, the damn thing would sit on its nose and I would be looking at the road... MR's?? not MH's . jojo
  4. the 454 truck is factory.. and yes, it would be a hell of a street rod.. as far as the black one,,, I wont mess with it... it really is a pleasure to drive as it is... it would be cool if I had the '48 done with a good flat bed on it and put one of the C-10's on it and Terri drives the other C-10 to local shows...
  5. Here's her '81... I put a new distributor in this one, tune up, valve cover gaskets,, It just sit's.. I drive it sometimes. 39,000 mile's.. factory 305 4bbl, turbo 350.. It rides like a new truck..
  6. I thought about it Onyx... years ago I put a new distributor, mid rise, Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock carb, water pump, thermostat, radiator,, and something else i'm sure, got it tuned and,,, My brother in-law enjoyed the power, a bit too much.. My plan is to put a decent cam, maybe smaller than a .49 thumper, like whats in my 400.. I also need to freshen up the Turbo 400, and a new torque converter... and pull the diff. cover off and see if it's ok... Of course I still need to get My '48 Int. KB-7 on the road.. I still have a bit more to do to her '81 C-10..
  7. My beautiful wife pulled it 65 miles to the house, like a pro!!
  8. Well, I got me another C-10 to fix.. 1976...The factory 454, is knocking.. I hope its just a bent pushrod or something top end.. My brother in-law just had to win the street race.... So we bought the truck for a few bucks...... When I'm better, I will start on it, (diag.) Jojo
  9. You know it.... The 42 MT is heavy, but at least it has a nose cone that can hold it in place while you rest your arms.... Jojo
  10. That's really cool. I don't think I ever saw one of those.. I like the idea of keeping it.. Jojo
  11. I just looked again, I can see daylight through the pin hole in the lever.. Definately an issue there.. If a lever isnt available, weld it up and re-drill it... then use a new pin... that wear will definatley cause improper engagement of the sliding clutch... jojo
  12. probably the sliding clutch inside the PTO housing.. I assume it is cable operated?
  13. I guess I Just think about Pride.. I spent a lot of blood and sweat, to keep many trucks running, because the owners needed to get back to work.. I'm sorry that I don't find an attraction to destroying a classic, that can still earn a living for a guy that isn't wealthy... It's just my crappy opinion... jojo
  14. so you want to kill an engine that many guy's here want to have, so they can put their classic back together?? Yeah,, I am one that will not follow this post... that suck's... Jojo
  15. Amen!!! 'F'...
  16. If I remember right, you can set the gov. to 'all speed' and you can set pedal spd. and cruise spd. to about 75 mph.. as far as 400 RPM range. I guess because i was driving an 18 spd.. I set the range... I wish I was still driving today, in the trucks that are being fussed at.. I feel like I will learn something.. Back in my driving time, it was about getting the dirt to the job site. anyway,,, I know less and less everyday...
  17. Pic's please..... We love 'em !!!
  18. man,, sending it to the crusher sucks,, Maybe pull the engine, tranny and rears, then .... hell I dont know.. I just hate seeing old timers get scrapped.. I bet I f i still lived in O.O.B. I would buy it and part it out... I hope you find a good home for that 'puppy' jojo
  19. Seems to me, Super dollar is a good place to go shopping..
  20. Thanks for sharing... Yes those switches are a common cause for what happened to your truck.. jojo
  21. you dodged a bullet there.... jojo
  22. I worked on a few of them many years ago.. the bottom counter shaft has splines in it,, the other 2 do not, so when building the tranny you just need to put the #3 shaft in the bottom.. jojo
  23. Holy crap.... When did this happen
  24. No fun at all.. both my legs burn all day and night.. I'm almost able to walk without a cane.. I just finished my second, 100 pack of 3x4 bandages, and about 40 rolls of guaze. 12ft./ Roll.. Amazon ships over night.. :).
  25. For sure, Mech.. I'm laid up because of my foolish mistake . But, we lived through it.. hope this is the last one.. this sh,,t hurts 🤕...
