  1. that lever should still be available at your local pump shop... just for kicks, do a 'Halo test' on a piece of cardboard.. put a decent drop of the engine oil on the cardboard and watch for a halo to form around the outside of the droplet.. if one forms quickly, (within seconds) the oil is saturated. if it is slow to form, then mabey you dont have a lot of fuel in the oil.. of course oil analisys is the best way. jojo
  2. gosh,,, I would like to help you, but I dont have the time to write the book... are you able to read the svc book and sum up your own approach. are you replacing the top gears, (Bevel pinion and Bevel gear)? they are always replaced as a pair.. and there should be a measurment scribed into the pinion.. you can take the measurement from the old pinion, and do the math to help get you close to the shim thickness needed. basicaly subtract the smaller from the larger, and that will be the shim adjustment needed. (in a perfect world) but it will get you close if not right on the money.. also the shim rings are expensive.. I have cut my own shims out of shim paper and added them to the existing shim ring, provided I had to decrease bearing pre-load.. I get my shim paper from my local rebuilder shop.. .002"/ .003"/ and .004".. cuts easy with a scissor, just like in art class.. jojo I have to go check the grill.. got chicken cookin...
  3. ok, well, just keep us posted, the best you can.. Someone will jump in, and give a good approach.. jojo
  4. from what I understand, there are no women or men anymore... so, I guess there may not be a problem.. we'll see... Of course only a crazy Man would mess with a creature that can bleed for 5 days and not 'Die'.... jojo
  5. I think its just a puzzle.. they are in order 1-6,, front to back. the last one I did, I had new lines and still had to mock them up individually to be sure.. (Ambach pump). the part numbers were Volvo numbers and I learned that part of the number was the position, however, someone took a few of mine out of the bags, so I had to build the puzzle. There are a bunch of guys here that could do a better job of helping you.. of course if a line has been bent, that will surely interfere. I cant remember if #5 goes in first, and then 4 and 6... anyway, I bet Glenn chimes in on this, theres a few others as well... jojo
  6. did you ever log a 5-1 or 5-2 code?
  7. Just for kicks... 3-4 is engine postion... 'cam sensor'... see if there is a teardrop shim behind the sensor... if so, put it in your pocket. and run the truck again to see if the issue goes away.. jojo
  8. AMEN !!! R.R. Jojo
  9. there are 2 ports on the right rear of the block, right in line with the fuel inlet and outlet. it take's a 1/4" ratchet to remove the plug.. the top one is fuel in and the bottom one is fuel out.. I just did this a few hours ago on an RD.. 1/4" NPT threads.. just hook to one of them.. "F" is right about fuel pressure.. My truck was putting fuel into the crank case, pump tested good, I had 125 PSI fuel pressure.. I re-ringed all 6 EUP's and have a 60 PSI regulator coming in the morning.. Good luck sir... Jojo
  10. any chance the pedal is worn out? the TPS, can cause this. does it do it at the same spot? of course there could be a dozen other issues, im just tossing out 1.. Jojo
  11. Hell put a X-107 twin stick in it.... it will be great, and you can shift gears in reverse... jojo
  12. I forgot to post that I just recently replaced a dog dish flywheel on an E-6 4 valve in an '87 Superliner, with an E-7 style flywheel, and put an eaton easy pedal 15" ,7padle, 9 spring, clutch in it.. .. I'm sorry that I forgot this til now.... Jojo
  13. Pinion depth is done with a dial indicator for back lash, and a vernier caliper to check shim thickness. and you need a 20 ton press to pre-load the bearing, and a small 'fish scale' and a piece of string to check bearing pre load.. and some Prussian blue on the gear teeth to observe tooth pattern in the 'root'. we also need to know what rearend you have.. I assume a dual reduction Mack, probably a 92/93 series?? More info please.. jojo
  14. Vlad.... I wish I knew half what you know... You are amazing!!! This web site is lucky to have you sir... Jojo
  15. this could be a bunch of issues.. is this engine an ASET-C, or a late CCRS. repair history?? auto trans, manual trans?? See where I'm going??
  16. Just a quick note here.. when the Mack tranny number ends in a '0'.. thats an overdrive tranny. ie: 2050,2070, 2180,,, ... jojo
  17. It is so nice to see how important Jan. 6th. is... So much time spent on hear-say by President trump. So much Hear-say at the hearings where no-one was under 'Oath' A lady say's she was sliding on a bloody floor trying to keep herself safe, B.S. where was the blood? anyone see pics? Oh yeah, let's go to Saudi Arabia to help them. Ooop's, I almost forgot all the riots after G. Floyd was killed.. Oh wait, not a real concern. Just a few protestors destroying thousands of (American) lives.. and a few block's of some Major cities, but , 'No Biggie' So what's next?? this cant be the end of the Biden Sh!t Show?? jojo
  18. the triangle panel on top of the dash, and there is one behind the clutch pedal... jojo
  19. That is great... Thank you for posting the repair.. Jojo
  20. lately, it seem's to me that these shop's and dealerships, are trying to be "Engine" mechanics first, without knowing how to drive, and 'feel' how a truck is supposed to drive. I am so glad I drove tractor trailers for 3 years before I became a mechanic. To me the real issue is "Training" at the shops... The high up guys know how to steal money legally, and the 'Techs' dont know any better.. It hurts my heart when I learn of these stories... however, I am so glad that BMT is here to help those that seek help.. It always amazes me that there are so many guy's here that are willing to help, and looking for nothing more, than to see the repair posted, so it's help's the next guy... BMT... Hell Yeah !!!! Jojo
  21. 'V' I asked the same Q earlier, I was thinking driveline issues, u-joints, angle, bearing play, loose yokes, anyway you get it.. I wish one of us was there to help save him 90% of his $13,000.00..... Jojo
  22. I guess I should ask where the shaking is..... In the steering wheel, or in you butt? steering wheel is usually front end issues, in your butt tends to be, behind you in the chassis and suspension and drive line... jojo
  23. have you not checked your tires to see if you have a broken belt in one? what about u-joints? seems to me, someone loaded a parts cannon and pulled the cord.. I hope you find this soon... 13K is too much to spend for a vibration.. Jojo
  24. Mucho Bueno Sinor'e.... jojo
  25. I have already replied to 2 new inquirie's today. I told them my new rate and $1/mile surcharge...... Cricket's.... That's ok... I'm curently building 2 Mack engines, I have a KW W-900L at my shop, and I have an E-7 to do after I finish the ASET-C that I started on Thursday.. It's a perfect time to test the new pricing... I'm not desperate for income this week... jojo
