  1. I figured a 2003 CX was a CXN with an ASET CEGR.. Is yours a CX with a CCRS? pics of the data plate on the front valve cover would help... jojo
  2. no... you dont need to take a brake chamber apart..... just do what Glenn said, or take a long nose vise grip and clamp it to one brake chamber at a time, on the park brake side... the rearward hose... then release the brakes... wheel chocks in place please!!! do this for each chamber until you hear the leak stop... hell, if you have 4 of these vise grip's, clamp all 4 lines, and push the yellow button in, (air pressure needs to be up, leave it running) then remove one vice grip at a time til you hear the leak. that will be the bad chamber.. no need to cut through the rubber air hoses with a death grip, just snug.. But Glenn told you a good way to get the same results... jojo
  3. might I suggest getting the E-Tech book... It has all the tools needed, listed throughout the book.. I have about 30 special tools for that engine and still dont have all of them.. jojo
  4. I agree with you Paul.. part of why I parked my truck is because I'm worth a bit more. I have a few that understand and pay me a bit more, but I am not 'kickin butt' like I was... Its hard for me to post on this because I dont want to come off as arrogant. I just have some strong opinions.. Thank you sir.. jojo
  5. yes Hayseed, I agree, I do good work, no re-works, and I have many repeat customers, but there are a few that think I need to stay put on pricing... I dont care to brag,,, that's not me.. I care all the way around.. I also care to make a living as well.. I feel like im a newbie, when I write these posts.... 24 years on macks, 13 working for myself and I still aint got it right yet.... thanks 'H' jojo
  6. Too kind... Mech... I really do put a lot of effort into my repairs.. thank you ,,, Jojo
  7. 10 psi was when the computer trucks would shut it down.... after about 10 seconds of run time...
  8. oh hell.. now what??
  9. nice.. I hope I make a worcation out of this trip.. jojo
  10. Ohhh I don't know.... daily ...... If I go to see Mark, How far away are you? I wouldnt mind meeting you too... jojo
  11. to me, yes its a liitle low, but 17+ was good enough at idle, if i remeber right... kinda like a 88-94ish chevy small block... .. jojo
  12. I know i'm robbing this thread, but i'm talking to Mark T right now... I remember when I-380 was pretty much nothing but 'Jersey barrier's' for miles and miles... and me being a new driver,, I 'White knuckled' that ride a few times... and ran it at night soooo many time's.. looking back, I'm glad I was in a cabover, so i could see ahead of me... I never needed the short pull off's, but alway's wondered how I would slow my rig enough to get into one if I needed it... sorry moderator's... I didn't want to start a new topic.. jojo
  13. I am in touch with Mark... I want to get it done for him... Hell I used to drive his area years ago,,, kind of a blast from my past... jojo
  14. . you didnt show the tach... bump the idle to 625-650 and check again..
  15. I dont know if my 20 year old service truck could make the trip 65 mph top speed... I would love to do it.. of course I could load my van with the essential tools and come do it.. jojo
  16. I'm curious too.. Years ago i was in a hurry to fix this same issue, to get a DOT inspection satisfied.. I ended up dropping the headliner and splicing the outer lights into the center lights, The owner was very happy, and didnt care about why they went out, just glad they were lit.. not a true fix, however....... jojo
  17. The owner of the Pete ha 1 KW and 2 Macks, a CV and a GU.. I have recently pulled all 4 Mack rears, 2 to re-seal, and 2 to get rebuilt, one of them exploded, so the axle housing had to be cleaned thoroughly, and one had a blown axle, same deal.. I did all of this at thier house. The KW was brought here to my house and I did all four kings pins for the lift axles, plus some smaller repairs, I turned that truck around in 2 days, and only charged $805.00 labor, I would like to think that I offer a lot of services... jojo
  18. I do All wheel end work, air systems, injection pump replacements, Ive done synchros in eatons, I have built 4 engines 'on-the road', I just replaced bolsters and torque arms on a Pete 357 with Hendrickson haulmaxx, Air compressors, and so on... I do very little oil changes and grease jobs (Alone). Electrical, turbos, C.A.C.'s, radiators.. A/C... anyway, theres more... jojo
  19. I had parked my truck for the last few weeks, and some of the new calls I received, I turned down, because I cant dispatch at $50/hr and less. I seem to attract cheap ass people lately. I did call some of my really good customers, and was able to book 3 jobs to start next week. I will have to do these jobs at $60/hr, but they are good customers and I will go ahead and do the work.. My wife has been on my a$$ because I havent dispatched in almost 3 weeks. I had some work in my shop that was paying the bills, but it is not enough for her, unfortunatley.. I think I need to stop now, Im hijacking this thread.. jojo
  20. Well that story was depressing.. I am back and forth about staying in business. I have done fewer road calls in the last month, and when I do one, my customer is trying to save money, so some of the repairs are getting done with sub par parts,, But I am not cutting quality on safety items,, or take off parts from salvage yards or dead trucks, anyway... I may have to get a night job, while I try to get more engine builds to come to my shop.. This is the toughest time I have experienced, while self employed.. jojo
  21. Thank's "F".. I didnt do enough pump work, before I was spoon fed the E-Tech.. I always refer to my books, if I have the right book. (Joe H,,, thats an Ambach pump..) jojo
  22. OK, the closest I got was in my '94 E-7 book, the 350 with Robert Bosch is set to 9.5 degree's.. I guess I wont be of any help here.. Sorry Glenn... Jojo
  23. My guess is. it is not stamped on the data plate on the pump or valve cover..?
  24. Glenn, I flipped through my E-6 4 valve book 3 times, and cant find the chart that has the settings. I know this isnt a guessing game, I just did 2 this year with Ambach pumps and one was (18 degrees) and the other was (19 degrees).. The last couple E-7's I did were Robert Bosch and they were (5 degrees).. I will keep looking.. all I have are E-7 tune up books... good luck, jojo
