I do All wheel end work, air systems, injection pump replacements, Ive done synchros in eatons, I have built 4 engines 'on-the road', I just replaced bolsters and torque arms on a Pete 357 with Hendrickson haulmaxx, Air compressors, and so on... I do very little oil changes and grease jobs (Alone). Electrical, turbos, C.A.C.'s, radiators.. A/C... anyway, theres more... jojo

I had parked my truck for the last few weeks, and some of the new calls I received, I turned down, because I cant dispatch at $50/hr and less. I seem to attract cheap ass people lately. I did call some of my really good customers, and was able to book 3 jobs to start next week. I will have to do these jobs at $60/hr, but they are good customers and I will go ahead and do the work.. My wife has been on my a$$ because I havent dispatched in almost 3 weeks. I had some work in my shop that was paying the bills, but it is not enough for her, unfortunatley.. I think I need to stop now, Im hijacking this thread.. jojo

Well that story was depressing.. I am back and forth about staying in business. I have done fewer road calls in the last month, and when I do one, my customer is trying to save money, so some of the repairs are getting done with sub par parts,, But I am not cutting quality on safety items,, or take off parts from salvage yards or dead trucks, anyway... I may have to get a night job, while I try to get more engine builds to come to my shop.. This is the toughest time I have experienced, while self employed.. jojo

Thank's "F".. I didnt do enough pump work, before I was spoon fed the E-Tech.. I always refer to my books, if I have the right book. (Joe H,,, thats an Ambach pump..) jojo

OK, the closest I got was in my '94 E-7 book, the 350 with Robert Bosch is set to 9.5 degree's.. I guess I wont be of any help here.. Sorry Glenn... Jojo

My guess is. it is not stamped on the data plate on the pump or valve cover..?

Glenn, I flipped through my E-6 4 valve book 3 times, and cant find the chart that has the settings. I know this isnt a guessing game, I just did 2 this year with Ambach pumps and one was (18 degrees) and the other was (19 degrees).. The last couple E-7's I did were Robert Bosch and they were (5 degrees).. I will keep looking.. all I have are E-7 tune up books... good luck, jojo

definately bad.. "Fix what you know is broke" Is the other sensor around the corner from that one, or in the radiator tank?

Ive had my business for 13 years... this is the hardest time, because everyone is counting pennie's.. I don't work for pennie's.. anyway, you make good point's... jojo

I bet you have a viscous fan clutch.. if so, check to see if it is easy to rotate when cold, and see if there is oily residue on the back of it where the spindle comes out. If so, replace it, A new thermostat is always a good idea anyway, is the coolant mixed properly? is there dirt between the radiator and C.A.C.? Is the fan shroud in one piece? jojo

if you come across a bolt that feels like it wont turn,,, use a pointed punch and a hammer, and hit directly on the head of the bolt a few dozen times.. then try to turn it.. not a guaranty, but it has worked for me many times.. another thing I have done is drill 1/8" holes into the bolt bore, (Since its junk anyway) and fill it with PB Blaster.. I just did this a few months ago on a C-15, to get the valve spacer off to replace the wire harness.. just be creative and patient.. the cost of parts is higher than the cost of 'time'.... jojo

Well our King just gave a heartfelt speech about the tragedy's where many people were shot and killed and injured.. All of it is terrible.. His list of recent mass shooting's left out 1 other person, who shot-up a N.Y. Subway... I guess it is because of politics... He spoke about mental wellness and checking into their wellness.... Where was he, when Frank James was posting how he was going out to hunt some white people.. It is obviously a concern for only some but not all.. Mental wellness needs to be checked, on-line threats, need to be watched and deemed a concern.. The truth is real and the process is easy, but the lib's demonized, 'profiling and discrimination' those are not racist words, they are about making decisions... Smart one's.... I look forward to the smarter member's to add to what i'm saying... all of these shootings are disgusting!!!!! jojo

Sorry Kim E... I wish you great success.. The list of ridiculous price hike's is huge... I was at Wal-mart today... Not the cheapest place in town anymore.. I had 2 of my customers tell me last month, If I raised my prices (To a point where I keep some money) But still low,,,, that I can pick my tools up and go... I am at $60/hr.. I just wanted to up to $70/hr... jojo

I imagine you could make it work, I guess if the air ports are a different size, you will need to see if there is room for the fittings.. I'm curious...

the shifter is the same, the knob is different... you will need a plumbing diagram... no biggie.. I have all of the books... jojo

I dont know about ratio's for youre need... just pull the shift cover off and look inside.. they are rediculus expensive to fix if a gear is broken.. . if you know how to build one, you have an upper hand... if the main box looks good,, then figure on a synchro job... its easy if it's on the floor, no special tools needed.. setting bearing pre-load is routine.. jojo

OMG!!!!

A while ago, I had the pleasure of taking on one of these issues after 2 mechanics put a turbo, and eecu on the engine. I drove the truck and right in the sweet spot, it would dump the boost and lay down.. After a few days of scratching my head, I checked the 'new' boost sensor part number, and it was the wrong one for that engine. I found a chart for the boost sensors, and saw that the one in the engine had an operating range that was 1.5 volts different from the one that belonged in it.. I wish I could remember the chart and part number.. I think 64MT??? . Iput the correct boost sensor in , and,,,, just like that it was fixed.. jojo
