  1. I agree, but havent figured a reasonable price. I told 2 of my customers that I was going up to $80/hr.. one said, (yesterday) yeah for your new customers, the one today told me "You can go ahead and pick up your tools now" . I finished my work and left, at $65/hr.. but I had a helper to pay today.. I guess I need to make them sweat.. no-one does house calls to do what I do around here.. the cust. I saw today is having me re-build the hendrickson haulmaxx suspension, and all wheel bearings and such, repair 2 lift axles, and set up the air brake system in the rear. he is converting a Pete 357 from a mixer to a Quad dump truck.. they did hang the lift axles, but need me to do the rest of it, before, sand blasting and then the body company installs the body.. I may do the wet system, but if I cant get paid good, i'm out.. jojo
  2. I get it, in a very small way.. some of what I do may take a month or 2, and the E-6 I have is at 2 years because of priorities, and prices go up so high, so fast, that my shorter, long jobs, are bid out, and I didnt know that my shop supply cost's were going to go up about 65% on the average, and when shop costs are estimated around $125-$150, per engine, Solvents, Sealants, Paint, nuts and bolts, gasket paper, shop costs like electricity, welding rods, oxy/acet. cash paid labor, and so on.. and then the price goes up a bunch during the job.. now i have to call my customer and ask for forgiveness.. That sucks!! I hope I can stay in business full time, but... Hell our local harbor Freight is starting at $14.80/hr.. thats about $10/ hr. less than i'm taking in (after costs)right now. without the hassels.. If I could work there, and continue building engines in my shop, I may actually keep more money... sorry guys, I'm a bit stressed... it's tough at times, being one guy trying to keep trucks rolling.. jojo
  3. The Mack trunnion repair works.. one of my customers has one, but he didnt know it. He bought it that way.. He's had it 3 years. I serviced it today, and it is in good shape. 2009 GU-713 Quad 'X' dump truck. 310M tranny, Mack rears... solid truck.. jojo
  4. Nope... .04 c more today here in Salisbury, N.C... $5.29/gal. I did some book work in the office today.. I aint makin SH!T !!!.. I am only keeping the water out of the boat... So I guess I should be greatful... Sure wish I was an "Illegal".. I'd be fine and laughing at all the Gringo's... Like they do here in central N.C. .. jojo
  5. ok... I'm not going to re-read all the posts... Allison tranny?? did you see my chart that I posted? Sensor input voltage is to be 5v.. on line VECU J-2 pin 11... pin 12 is the ground line... when the driveshaft turns it creates pulses and voltage that is sent to the VECU.. Did you replace the sensor yet?? is FMI-2 present in the code?? if it is, there is another test for a 6-8 code... I will try to help, but wont write the whole book,,, jojo
  6. I'm curious??? All this Dick waving by Biden, and Pelosi and a few others, plus sending equiptment and money to Ukraine to Fight Russia...... Will this get us into a war with Russia and their Ally Nations? jojo
  7. they add that.. they split 'Boss' to remove the trunnion bar. then weld clamp plates on to secure the new bar... jojo
  8. Hans, there is only one in the kick panel... the other is ABS.. your right..
  9. I really get a KICK outa you Aussie guys... I love it !! jojo
  10. Man I wish I had been in one recently.. to refresh my memory. I know there is a group of ground wires left of the fuse panel behind the panel that says CL 700.. Have you checked it?
  11. I know.... Truly sad !!! got back from my 2 road calls. One cust. was a no-show. the other job took 45 minutes.. $60 bucks.. My costs out the door today $83.00... Just one of those losing days I rekon... well back to my shop, jojo
  12. Great !! I hope to see a post saying you fixed it and how? Good Luck T.... jojo
  13. $5.25 today, just pumped it..
  14. 👍... $150/hr here too.. I know I'm cheap, but in my area, I'm competitive, a bit low though.. I would rather be in my shop building Mack E-Techs. I just cranked a John Deere 3179DF yesterday. I re-built it from a bare block. I also have an E-Tch and an E-6 2Valve in my shop. Almost done with the E-Tech. 1/2 way through the E-6. That one is for a restoration that is taking a fews years to get done. I'm about to un cover it and go at it.. Ok, gotta go.. 2 road calls today.. jojo
  15. I understand, I guess I was thinking that in those gears you are pulling hard to get up to speed.. I hope you get this fixed soon... jojo
  16. I'm just a 'Guppy' in the ocean called "business".. but these high costs have an instant impact on me. My service truck is a diesel, I get around 12 mpg. 30 gallon tank. Certainly nothing compared to my old Century class truck with 2 (95) gallon tanks. which I owned in 2005-06 when fuel was $5 bucks a gallon in the northeast region, where I ran the most.. My issue is that I dont have A large reserve of money, because I am so small and can only do so much work by myself, I dont pull in big buck's. I have 2 road calls to do this morning and I need to squirt some fuel. So I will probably buy $50.00 worth, to go out and gross $150-$200.00.. That isnt business owner earning's, thats employee earnings at Wal-Mart. then factor in that all of my products have gone up 50-100%.. IE: Brake cleaner/ Penetrating oil/ Grease tubes/ all forms of oils that I use/ D.O.T. brass/ ect: My cash rate is only $60/ hour, Now I have to raise my price to ALL of my customers. Anyway, I know I went out there a bit, but to me it's all the same issue... jojo
  17. did the shop check the u-joints, and air ride height? just curious? has the drive shaft been apart and put back together wrong? I know you have a 12 spd, just curious.. jojo
  18. What's going on, is the intentional destruction of the core of our great country!!! The lib news talks about the issues, product shortages, high rent, high food prices, high fuel prices, and all of of us white people are racist... And they love every minute of it.. They are fueling the fire that is burning us to the ground.. FJB, and K.H. and N.P. and Mayorkas , and so many more.... dammit, I get so pissed off !!... Jojo
  19. thats it !!! its quick and done.. jojo
  20. I dont believe they are the same metal as piston rings.. the E-9's I worked in recently had the rings and they were steel not piston ring metal.. however, im in no position to tell you what to do.. just thinking outside the box.. jojo
  21. i have never tried, but is it possible to remove the rings, clean the grooves, gently heat the rings and stretch them out , and when they are larger pour cold water on them to set them to size, then re-use them?
  22. its sh!t like this that chaps my A$$ !!! M-Drive is f'n junk... period... my wife was a service writer at Our local Mack dealer 4+ years ago and she said that Hilco Transport would request a new tranny under warranty and it was still 13K , no warranty, the cost was around 16K .. for a re-man.. Mack pro? can you confirm my wifes memory... its been a while.. I hope my E-7/ E-Tech rebuilding plan pulls through.. I wish I had tranny tools, but its hard to beat "Overdrive rebuilders" in my area... jojo
  23. Thanks Glenn.. God Bless you sir... jojo
  24. pull the trolly brake handle down and try again.. older trucks used to have a 'lockout' for sliding the fifth wheel. I guess they want ed you to be sure the trailer brakes are set before you slide.. jojo
