  1. I have bitched so many times about hours spent on 'keeping the light's on' because there is 50 of them.. or how a 4 wheel brake job takes 30+ minutes longer because of all chrome caps,... "I have a full shop and dont have time to waste on you re 'make-up'"!!!... yeah they look good, i just cringe when I have to work on them, and god forbid, if something gets a scratch.. then I have to go inside the cab to make a repair, and the pretty truck is a damn mess in the cab with spit cups and stains all over the dash and the floor, piss jugs and such, .. "But I need to look good goin down the road" anyway,, I laugh, but for me it suck's.. jojo
  2. I have an E-6 2 valve in my shop as well, an ENDT673.. I need to get back on it, after i finish the 2 other engines I have on stands. what should I look for in the push rods? they are all the same, the rod is narrower than the ball and seat ends.. jojo
  3. I guess I was in the moment.. sorry about the lengthy posts,, I just couldnt stop typing... jojo
  4. dang-it... i forgot,,, Engine brake lash was originally .015",,, then they went to .017",,,, and after the reset screw update along with the other stuff, lash was set at .021", we also stamped the data plate on the jake head with a 'B' or a 'C' after each update, and the plate on the front valve cover was stamped wit the 'new' eng. brk lash as well.. dammit,,, its flowing back into my head.. jojo
  5. My post is only based off of my memory of when I did these updates many years ago,, there is a chance I left something out. I did not re-read the bulliten before posting... Jojo
  6. the "Top oil feed" update came in around 2001 or so.. It was for the 690 Jacobs heads.. the heads were dissasembled, then a drilling 'jig' was placed on top left of the middle if i rember correctly,. you were to drill into the jake head about a 1/4" into the oil gallery, but not through it. you know... then tap threads in it to accept a 90 degree #4 JIC fitting. the jake spacers were replacedwith spacers that had #4 JIC bulk head connectors built in.. the jake heads were the flushed out ot get the filings out, and new reset screws were installed, you also flipped it over and 'picked out ' 5 pieces from the oiler port in the bottom of the head. it was a retainer, spring, BB, oring, and something else i forgot.. then the little allen headed delivery valve in the rocker shaft was replaced with a 10mm hex head check valve.. i think we also replace the pistons and springs and washers and snaprings int the jake heads.. we aslo replaced the reset screws in the exhaust rockers with a kit called. 215SB321 with the new armolly screws.. I forget the measurement, anyway, one issue there was that the reset pins would mash into the reset screw which I beleive caused the engine brake to not open the exhaust valve enough to funtion right.. the oil lines we speak of, were SS braide lines. at the oil filter pad we added a fitting to the turbo oil feed port, and ran lines up to the jake spacers to supply higher oil pressure to the jake heads... it worked, but was still not that good... it only got better, when Mack went back to making their own engine brake, and so the "Powerleash" was born .. jojo
  7. also, the air compressor may get its air from the manifold,, check the connection.. jojo
  8. Amen, Mech... Amen... jojo
  9. lets not forget that every White American Man is a Racist... But we still have to pay into the 'till' this is all about destroying the white man, and then the all white people.. at leaste here in the U.S. of A. talk about biting the hand that feed's you.... jojo
  10. keep doing what you are doing.. these engines will run on one or the other but it needs both to maintain good balance..
  11. I regret not staying in the Army.. but as we know, hindsight is 20/20... jojo
  12. My wife wants a canary yellow Pete 379, with bug eye headlights.. But a KW W-900 L would be a sweet ride too.. She just wants it to drive around in.. Go buy groceries or whatever.. Mabey I could sell her Harley Tri-Glide Ultra Classic and her Pristene 81' C-10, and get her one,,,, yeah right... jojo
  13. Bingo!! MarkT.... jojo
  14. When I interviewed for the service manager postion, I had just over 20 years on Macks, 10 in the dealership, 2 in fleet mgt., and the rest as self employed. The G.M. told me they werent concerned about my experience, they wanted a college degree, and someone to answer the phone and talk to customers... It HURT... I walked out 1 month later and went back into business.. I have posted this story before,, so forgive if its boring... jojo
  15. the buzzer is called a "Multi buzzer" it buzz's for many reasons and funtions... my diagrams are very large and dont photograph well.. I dont know how a faulty buzzer would reduce engine power... jojo
  16. I guess im not sure,, i thought you have an RB,,,R-model,,, any R-Model I worked on, the buzzer is in front of the clutch pedal, under the dash, on a triangular bracket. no need to remove a dash panel, just lay on the floor and look up at the bottom corner.. its right there.. above the vent door, if you have the vent down there that you kick open.. I wish I had a picture of its location. there is the chance that it is missing, but the wide plug should be there.. jojo
  17. i think its 8, have you still not found it?
  18. have you just simply looked at the wires on the VSS sensor, and the truck side to see if they are chaffed, or broken, or just not right?? jojo
  19. 4-1 is the speed sensor in the tranny output shaft.. If it's a screw in type,,, remove it, inspect it, clean it, ohm it out, based on the part number stamped in it.. if you can see the part number, post it,, should start with 64MT... when you screw it back in, go in till it touches then back it off 1 full turn, and ,lock it down.. jojo
  20. Oh Hell, TJC.. You make good point's.. I would only change a few of my actions,,.. anyway, its a deep subject for me so I will stop here... jojo
  21. No doubt MackPro, I remember, continuasly updating PTT, and the few times I used a Nexis box, was just 'ok'.. Ive been away from these systems for a few years, with the exception of setting up PTT for a customer of mine,, however, no one there knows how to use it, or speak english, so all the money he spent for me to renew the system is now gone. Its been over 6 months, so it all needs to be be re-set, passwords and the like.. If these systems arent used regularly, they just go away to a point, then more money has to be spent to get it back.. its sad.. jojo
  22. I just looked in my V-MacIII book, and did not find a 291 modifier... jojo
  23. the ABS rocker switch is under the dash, above the brake pedal. it is lit up in 'orange' if you can retreive the 2 digit codes, I can tell you what it is for.. What year/model/ engine series/tranny/? jojo
  24. yeah Mech... you are right.. I know I posted this before, but... I tried to work for Mack again a few years ago... one of my co-workers, rolled the lap top cart up to a truck to diagnose why the headlights didnt work.. Of course I laughed and asked What the F are you doing?... he just looked at me and continued... of course, he was the favored 'tech'.... He got 'tech of the year' that year.... I played the game as well, but of course I fixed trucks.. I won tech of the month 7 out of 11 months, went to school and became a 'Master driveline' tech, and got tech of the year the next year.... Big 'F'n'Deal !!! I still wasnt good enough for a promotion, even though all the hi-up's asked me how to fix it, or 'what do i tell the customer'? and so on... What a waste of 10 years in the dealerships learning how to actually fix a damn Mack... anyway, ... jojo
