How about pre filling the oil filter, fill the engine til its in the range, count your qt's.. crank it , run 1 minute, let sit for 10 minutes and top off, keep track of what you put in.. easy breezy... jojo

ok.... push up on the drive shaft, if it moves, locate the movement, loose yoke bolt is possible. pull the yoke and then the seal cover.... inspect the yoke for a groove around where the seal rides.. if it has a groove, buy a yoke, speedy sleeves are hit or miss.. replace the seal, and the gasket behind the cover. get a new yoke bolt, 3AX1803,, and torque to 500 lbft... install a new u-joint strap kit... they are cheap,,, around $10 buck's.. top off the oil, and you should be done with this issue... stay in touch.. jojo

so you have a duetch connector on the back of the injection pump, and not a pull stop to shut it down?? jojo

I just replaced the 'Z' springs on a CXN last week.. Repairing that suspension is easy on your back, but not so easy on your wallet... definately keep the u-bolts tight.. during a walk around, you can hit them with a hammer... if they ring out, they are tight, if they 'thud' they are loose.. just a quick way to stay on top of them ... jojo

The Progressive curse of the Biden Klan, is once again showing itself here in Salisbury N.C. Our city built a really nice park and ampitheater, with beautiful landscaping and a waterfall, and such. It's very nice.. It's been open since last October.. There is a group of 'Vets' that stand on the corner, right where a civil war statue was removed last year.. They are waving American flag's, trying to get our city to install a flag pole and fly OUR flag.. The news channel says the city is reviewing the "Issue" What issue????.. The crazy thing is that on June 25th. They held a rain or shine "Pride Event" with many rainbow flags-a-flyin.. They had that event scheduled for months in advance... I say put up a flag pole where the Civil War statue used to stand... Right on the end of the median that divides the road.. I pray for the day that this Progressive B.S. ends soon,,, Jojo

What trucks are you looking to put engines into?

Good question... I just posted on another thread, that I am Building a rebuild room on my shop.. If the money is there, I would consider buying a core engine from DEX. (30 minutes away) and rebuilding it to resell.. I expect ,E-Techs will be abundant, but would also like some E-7s to build.. I have almost all the essential tools to do those engines... Jojo

Thanks 67'.. I am moving slow and steady on the job search. I am starting near the top of the quality job postings. Hopefully I won't have to lower my expectations much more.. I know that it will be an adjustment, going from self employed to employed.. as far as Mack Trucks,. I just starting to turn my tool room on my shop, into a rebuild room.. Engines and Mack tranny's.. I hope to have it closed in better, and insulated in a couple months.. it is 12x16 feet.. I can do 2 engines at a time and have room to move and keep parts separated.. I am currently finishing an E-Tech, and I have an ENDT 673 in the back of the main shop.. There is the possibility that I won't get hired by the city or county,,. So I am trying to prepare for that.. I am getting tired of road calls.. However, I did build 2 Mack engines last month, and yesterday, test drove a CXN that I just replaced the from carrier housing, all Z-springs, brakes, seals, etc: plus I fixed the synchro shifter in the 310 Tranny.. all for the same customer.. they do provide a big shop for me.. The owner wants me to start working on his B Model collection too.. Yes, I don't sound like I'm job hunting,. But I am holding out for a Smart move.. As far as BMT.. I won't stop being a part of this great group... I found a great thing here, with many great guys.. Jojo

Yes Bob, there are jobs all around me, but if I'm going to get a job, I would like healthcare and retirement options.. that is why I applied to my city and county.. My Harbor freight store is hiring, $14.80/hr to start.. no Benny's... I'm ok.. I still do road calls, just trying to ease into a new career.. I'm going to try the highway patrol maint. you can flush it out with carbeurator cleaner, or something that removes soot. do you have a way to make a pressure tester for it to see if it leaks inside? as far as the EGR valve, I never tried to clean one, but wonder if the carb cleaner sprayed on the shaft and inside the best you can, not much room to work with.. unfortunately, the egr valve will need replacing annually.. Theres a few others here that may have better answers than mine.. jojo

The synchro wont cause the vibration, however, if it related to the vibration, the issue is bigger than the synchro... the synchro just rides along on the rear main shaft. the sliding clutch selects lo-hi, hi-lo as you use the selector on the shift knob.. Dont let any of them tell about synchronizing 'gear shifts' there are no synchros in the main box... YOU ARE the synchronizer!!!! when you shift... jojo

yep, just saw it too.. you know, recently I have applied to my "County and City" for maintenance jobs.. the package is good,, yes it s a pay cut but the health care and 401k looked good,, I have had 2 interviews... Crickets...... I am not a dumbass, but,,, really??? what s the issue?? I know the answer, but I'm asking you guys.. Sorry...
