the EGR valve may be bad, but it's been 2 weeks, and I believe my parts quote scared him away. my guess is they will hire a kid to do the wire harness, and when it gets to the point were the injector wires, and cam sensors need to plugged in, they will call me.. of course it will cost more because I will re-do the work. who knows. i may just stay away from it... jojo

easy to see...cam sensor is at the right front near the breather. held in with an 8mm bolt. short harness, secured on the edge of the timing cover.... the crank sensor is at 8 o'clock on the flywheel housing... the cam sensor may have a teardrop shim behind it. just for kicks, take it out and put it in youre pocket.. put the sensor back in, then crank the engine and see if it runs better..

I worked in 3 Mack Dealer shop's and a couple private co's and 2 bigger co's that were 75% + Macks... so when the boss's saw that I could do the job's and didn't 'bitch' well..... guess who got the engine job's... no biggie, just my path.. I still want to learn more about the one's I know. Hell in a couple of the shop's I got all the tranny build's and rear end's too... ok, I'm rambling again... jojo

I also learned from true Mack old timer's, that Mack farmed out parts for the E-tech to Bosch, and they made crappy lifters, and the fuel pump was nothing to write home about.. for example.. I really welcome other opinion's on my statement's.. but really.... to me.... it's the best alternative to have a 'million mile engine' if you don't have an E-6 or E-7... a bit about me... I did my first cam job in 2000, on an E-Tech... i have only done about 40 of them since, so I'm not really an expert... just Joey mack..

Early E-tech's were the ones, from what I learned, the brass spindle that the roller, spun on, would flat spot and stopthe roller and then the firestorm starts.. I have seen 'flaked' rollers, pitted rollers, and flatened rollers down the the yoke on the lifter, cutting into the lifter, and still running, terrible of course... did I answer youre question? jojo

no need to go with an E-9..... The E-7 will do a damn good job. and the CH is not built for that 3200 Lb. engine... Of course, torches, a good welder, patience, and lot's of money can make it happen.... ..jojo

well the bottom of the compressor has ports for the oil to drain back into the pan... Sounds feasible.. jojo

I believe you are correct 'sir'.... I call it Ceramic Cam Roller Sh1t...jojo Looking back..... I agree with 'V' the early E-Tech wasn't that bad. certainly better than the ASET CEGR..... jojo

Just for kick's.... look at the cam sensor plug and socket (eng. position sensor) Do the same for the crank sensor (R.P.M./ T.D.C. sensor) look for fraying of the wires where it goes into the plug. The R.P.M. sensor may have a 3 pin plug with only 2 wires.. you can also, un-plug one of them and try to start the engine, it will crank for a few seconds before starting, and will run rough when it starts. then plug it back in and un-plug the other sensor, and crank it up. if it does not start, the sensor that Is plugged in is bad. These engines can run on either one but uses both to balance it out.. Just one of my "off the wall" test's.. Let us know how it goes... jojo

is it the music stereo? if so .... expose all of the wires and record the color's and tracer's and look for a Vulva stereo/with the harness, and 'relate' the wires to the color code.... or am I just talkin out my a$$ ? jojo oh yeah then use PTT to tell the truck it has a new stereo...

after I saw this and thought about it.. I started thinking.... CRD (carrier rear dual) and CRS (carrier rear single).... Just me not knowing, but now, curious... I don't mind not 'knowing' however, learning is always A (+)... jojo
