  1. neo... just because... can you sum up what you need ? keep it short... I literaly bought a book to help YOU.. jojo
  2. hey bud... you have to pull the hood, and cooling pack because there is no room to do the job.. You need to be sure about what you are seeing.. for a guy like me the job is easy, hood off in 30 mins, cooling pack, 15 mins if you drain it first.. Im sorry if this seems like a bunch of work for a BS leak.. but... it is what it is... jojo
  3. that hump is where the plug is... to bad there isnt a different shape to the cover to let you get to the plug.. I wish I had a spare cover kicking around, so i could look and see if there was a way to drill it out to get to the plug and tap threads in it for another plug... dammit.... jojo
  4. I forgot... gotta drop the oil pan... jojo
  5. yes balancer comes off, crank hub comes off, ( theres a process to putting the hub back on), alt. and bracket comes off, and pull the fan off for room. also lower engine mount comes off.. there is no gasket, it is Mack gray RTV... If you do this repair, get Mack gray RTV or the BEST alternative RTV you can find... there are 2 locating dowels on the cover and very little area to pry the cover loose, so be carful.. you will need a new hub seal.. look up how to seat the seal... ok, I will stop now,, jojo
  6. just clean the balancer.. the marks are there.. On the E-7 dont expect '0' to be TDC... 1&6 will be before that mark on the balancer.. I dont know how many degrees, but its there.. You say you have the book... great! one more thing... I was taught a long time ago how to tell if you are up on #1.. When the pointer shows 1&6, look to see if the #2 exhaust rocker is 'rocked'... if it is, you are up on 1 and ready to start running the rack. if not... go around 1 more time.. jojo
  7. the little broken hole... my guess is someone tried to bar the engine over with a small pry bar or big screwdriver.. You will see a zero on the flywheel edge. that sets the engine to TDC on #1.. then when you place the cam, you set the cam to TDC.. theres more to do but that is the basics of it.. I expect MackPro and 'V' to join in on this and fill in my blanks... jojo
  8. Thank you "F" I have collected many books, from Mack schools and E-Bay, and so on.. They mean a lot to me and, If I can help someone keep there 'Dog' of it's leash, I will... Jojo
  9. im out of 'likes' how many do we get?
  10. I beleive the 2nd one is behind the timing cover.. not easy to do.. some clear pics would be great... we love pics... jojo
  11. Sorry about the rotated pics... I dont know what I did there.. when you get the blink code out of the truck, post it and I will send you the flow chart for the repair.. jojo
  12. I hope this helps. If I find more I will post it.. jojo
  13. Good Dayyy .... Nice reference Hippy.. jojo
  14. I went to my shop to look for info. I cant believe that I dont have a 'pin out' diagram for the Duetch plug at the injection pump. Did you remove the Timing event marker, to inspect the ebd pickup? as well as the condition of the wires? It is screwed into the side of the inj. pump in front of the governor housing.. 2 wires.. I will try to find the 'pin out' diagram.. I know I have it somewhere.. jojo
  15. Im well know at our Orielly store here in town, and when a new guy comes in I will mess with him.. I will have him bring up my business acct. then ask for a water pump, for a '62 Ford Camaro, with a 318 slant six.. ... and then I just wait... The manager just stands there with a smerck on his face, he knows, I did it to him years ago,,, 19 year old store manager... He actually does a good job... jojo
  16. Awesome... Thank you for posting the process to fix it.. I'm glad you "went for it" Jojo
  17. yes sir, i understand. however, I was hoping to help him do it once.. I guess, because I am not there to see if he is up on #1 and starting on #1.. I am certainly not trying to be a,,, well you know.. always good to hear from you 'F' jojo
  18. yes, the A hole B hole tool with the rod.. sounds like an adult movie... one thing for sure... if you do it wrong, you will be F'd !! jojo
  19. I know one thing... He will need a half a reem of paper and extra toner to print the book on just this portion of the repair.. I know... I did it. In total, I believe I have about 400 pages (single sided) on just the MP-8.. In my library I have books that thick, but they cover MANY versions of the engine. anyway, it's great that you have access to this info.. jojo
  20. yeah,,, you need a downgrade. your phone works too good...
  21. youre talking about the 'A' hole and the 'B' hole tool.. yep, got to have the lower timing cover off to do it. then you need 2 bars made by Volvo to press the cover back down in order to bolt it back in place properly... terrible... jojo
  22. Bob, just go to "Dumbass.com" you can get all the lates apps... like how to make a sandwich, and how to wipe your ass, and so on.. Hell I got one that shows me how to open jars.. jojo
  23. I thought they had an app for that on thier phones??? ooops
  24. So true Mech... So true.. It baffles me that as a customer I have to be a teacher to get the parts I need... I want a training bonus... jojo
  25. I know exactly what you are saying... I do it almost every day... I go to Oriellys and tell the young'n how to look it up, even when I have the part number... it's a sad time for us.. jojo
