  4. Cool picture. Is that a knuckle head, what year...? My oldest Harley is my '99 Sportster. I have 3 total.
  5. We used the "homemade" part of it to destroy this thread.. personally.... I like the hijacked version better..
  6. 3 load straps and a tarp.. Yeah thats good enough to hold this locomotive.. I love it. I have been holding back a thought ive had for years. Not to offend but to shed light. Here in the U.S. we have become wimpy when it comes to getting a job done. Too many rules put in place as substitutes for common sense, and too many hungry lawyers looking for top dollar in law suits. I will be going through an assortment of safety trainings with my city this spring and i know half of it is B.S. Just CYA crap. I know that if I was to put on all the gear for confined spaces entry, i would not be able to fit through the hole in some cases, and also my visibility is compromised because i cant see my perifrial's. Anyway.. im likin the videos
  7. That video is impressive. They are ber smart and resourcefull. Thanks JC.
  8. Well, since im living in my recliner for the next month, i may just take a look .
  9. We still have that today.. I live in the middle of Mexico North Carolina.. Used to be called Salisbury...
  10. Im not familiar with this Pakistani stuff you speak of. My guess is it is probably scary to watch, and primitive as can be based on the comments.
  11. Im on board with keeping the core and rebuilding it. I have a couple starters, and some Mack water pumps. I used to partially rebuild the EUP's on Mack engines. I own the fancy little socket for it. Anyway, Thanks GW..
  12. As far as a shit talkers engine not running good. In My last stint in the Mack shop, i had to redo 2 inframes, and was handed 3 MP-8's that were torn down. One of them was taken apart by the Laptop guru, he didnt know how to build it. I found all the plungers from the rocker arms where they fell... On the head, in the frame rail, on the floor in speedy dry. So not only are they not going back in the bores they came from, i have to be sure the oil galleries are spotless beyond normal cleaning.. in addition to this,,, these 3 MP-8's was the first time I had ever built one, I had not been to school to get a cert for them.. i simply went on to Impact web site and litterally built the first one by the book page by page. I didnt need to talk shit or brag, i just did the job. This 1 engine sat for 3 weeks un- touched, i had just started to work there that week when i got the build.. my foreman tried to rush me, but i didnt cave. After the test drive i tidied up loose ends and closed the work order... I used the shop manual, PDF in this case, and got it done..
  13. Paul, i am right there with you. And J.C. you too on some points. I have always said, (and sometimes with some arrogance), I' m mechanic not a technician ! I can fix stuff. Yes I would rather rebuild a starter, or alt, or water pump, but at the dealership its a game, and it has caught on like wild fire. All of a sudden we cant biuld anything, steering boxes were the first thing we were told not to do, and it went from there. To include head work on bendix air compressors. As far as the tattoo guys... It seems like the more ink you have is what grades you as a mechanic, now today we add a lifted diesel pickup truck to the mix. I dont care about tat's, really, its just an observation, but it works for them. Paul, Amen when it comes to mistakes. Ive made them, and the first thing i would do is tell my boss that i messed up. J.C. as far as head work goes.. if I have good heads worth repairing, i have no problem with doing a lot of the work that is not for a machine shop. I can check spring pressure, lap in valve seats, r+r seals, lap in the rocker shaft if it has light scratches without worry about my ability. Ive stood around many conversations where they guys are talking all this cool shop talk about how to do the work, only to see a re- man part be brought out to the truck. Sorry about this rant, but you guys touched a nerve, and i agree with you. I still have a LOT to learn, but proud of what I can do.... Jojo
  14. Oh hell. Is that what he wants? I was thinking of axle to axle alignment. Definitely beyond my knowledge.
  15. https://dexheavydutyparts.com/ If you have not used Dex, i recommend visiting the website. Good luck.
  16. Well the Biden sickness continues to spread to other Dems. Our Governor Roy Cooper commuted 15 death sentences on his last day in office. What i learned is that he did not meet with the families of the victims and the criminals to discuss this action. They just do what they want regardless of the law. Of course the incoming Gov. is a Dem. So more B.S.to come. It amazes me that these sh!tbags will kill a baby in the womb all day long every day, but ,,,,, criminals?? Nope...
  17. J.C.,,,,,, We used to hear that a lot at the dealership. A lot of times it was because the driver drove mechanical or slightly electronic engines, mostly Cats and Cummins. These Mack engines dont rev up like a cummins, and the Program in the EECU is designed to control fuel while still delivering torque.. you will not win a race in these Macks. As far as pulling hills at gross, they have the power, they are just slow. Just a couple pennies from my thoughts... There is a setting that can be set in the EECU. To give it a little more pep in its step, but its small..
  18. Atro has offset pads. Until he posts what suspension he has, im stuck.
  19. The effort you put on here at BMT, speaks for itself.. Heinzy... New nickname if thats ok?
  20. My guess is he thinks the axle housing shape is the name of it. I dont know. When they just post a question without a ,hello,, or some form of intro., the thread usually goes astray.. we'll see. Also, some like this may not speak good english. I wll still try to help, i think i know what he wants.
  21. Take ''TheHeinz' for example. He joined us a short time ago and has helped greatly. He is not cocky, and knows when he doesnt know. He also will go the extra mile to help answer questions. A shining example of someone i would want to teach.
