  1. at first I checked them by eye and with a rod to check depth, i could not check rotation, I just received the installer tool and the alignment checker is on its way. $725.00 out of pocket for the tools, however, I get calls to build E-Techs and E-7's often, so mabey I will switch-up how I do things and turn my shop into an engine room. I have a few other essential engine tools. I need a good engine stand. the one I have is custom made for E-6's.. just rambling, jojo
  2. there is 4 or 5 relays to the left side under the right fuse cover. I think one of them is the engine brake relay... I am not near a truck right now, so I cant pop the cover and look, sorry... jojo
  3. So today I pulled the liners and re-checked the h-rings and found 3 more that were too high... It's been a billion years since I did an h-ring and now I have an engine that has 4 dislodged rings.. Go-figure??
  4. I will check foe a link and seller name and get back to you. there was a few other books there too. I just left my local Mack dealer, I asked if they had any old books that they dont need, -no- was the answer... jojo

are the fuel filters fresh? What repairs have been done recently? this may be basic stuff.... since there are no codes, jojo

EGR is a good call, have you checked fuel pressure? when you say "Surge" does it pull hard or lay down?
  9. You can just call a Mack dealer with the model and last 6 of the V.I.N.,,,, get the part #, then use Rob's chart and find the seal at NAPA or on-line... it's probably a cross to a national#3700-22A... or even a 3800-22A.. Don't quote me, just tossing out an example.
  10. I just ordered 2 Mid-Liner books from E-Bay..... I don't know how quickly you are trying to fix youre truck, however, when I get these books, I will be glad to contact you, and e-mail spec's../ etc. Jojo
  11. I dont remember which relay is for the engine brake, but I think its the same as the headlight relay, swap them and run the truck normally, without the jumper, and re-test. if its good during the test, the relay is bad...
  12. Yes "V" we are on the same page... when I torque the rocker shafts I go slow and with one hand push down on the rockers to keep them seated, so there wont be a ,, SNAP!! :(.. I have H-Ring tools coming from California, I'm going to do an in-frame on it now and replace the H-Rings.. I measured them before installing the cam, and they seemed to be good, no 'high ones'.. now the #1 intake H-Ring is out and #5 lifter magnet was slightly higher than the others. I really just want to put steel lifters back in... I wish I had a steel roller engine with spring loaded push rods. So I could hear and see how it runs......... I remember doing the Jake brake oil feed update many years ago, and popping the rivet into the rocker arms..
  13. I will try to find something for it, is it an MS or CS 200/300p?
  14. "N".. You have an MR? The outlet on the center section should be specific the the truck's body... They can crack on the backside middle, and the partition in the outlet. The ends should be the same P/N, and the center section should be 'vehichle specific' .. Jojo
  15. Hello Matt... Welcome to the forum's.... How much on-line searching have you done? I know that Mid-liner parts are very hard to find.. made in France. Renault..... Anyway... I'm currently building a '48 Int. K-B7. I basically pulled the parts off, cleaned them, and hoped to find a part number... so far it's worked, and I was able to find some part's. Have you done that? I do not expect you're local Mack dealer to have the book's or concern to find the parts.. Jojo
  16. 880Joe... I think you can, but I have never done it... That is what I was hoping to learn on this one..... The spring-loaded pushrods are to keep the lifter roller on the cam back-cut... (exh. side),,can someone please tell me i'm wrong....I want to learn!!!, regardless of how long I've been doing this.. Of course the 2 Mack dealers in my area,,,, and I quote.... " Have No clue".... I wish I had a Swedish Speaking friend who could translate, Jojo
  17. The inner tube tool is an awesome idea, mind if I use it to fix my own junk?? 😉 Jojo
  18. Yes, I am aware of dropping them. What I did was have my helper 'the owner' install 2 at a time as I moved the cam inward. I was very careful... I was not there when the owner 'who wanted to finish it himself', finished the job and started the engine.. This is the first and last time I let anyone finish and start it without my being there... I don't know what happened... This is the first cam job mishap in 20 years...
  19. Thank you... I don't know as much as I need to know, when I come upon these issues... If I was first on the scene,,, good chance the engine would be making money for my customer... I always look forward to youre knowedge... jojo
  20. Powerleash rocker shafts have a nut on the ends of the rocker shafts instead of at welch plug... Jacobs set-up could pop a plug and drop pressure, however, the Engine brakes wont work at all, and oil pressure gauge will reflect the issue... Are the valve's and E-brake adjusted correctly... Powerleash adjustment requires you to leave the .045" feeler in the engine brake position , then set the exh. lash to .024"... Jojo
  21. Ok.. the intake pushrods are 417's... same as the first generation on both valves.. Yes the exhaust has spring loaded rods... For the back cut on the cam... I am not trying to answer my own question .. I guess I was hoping to hear... hell yes you can swap them. I measured them and they seemed to be the same... My customer is pissed about the second lifter failure, because the roller broke and destroyed his new cam during run-in. It's the Chicken- Egg thing here... Did the lifter roller break, or did this H-Ring decide to move... H-Rings checked good during cam job.. Now I have the heads off and we are going to re-build it... Unfortunately there have been a few others in this engine, including the owner who said he adjusted the valve's previously, and after a while..... here I am trying to make Chicken Salad out of Chicken sh#t... Anyway...... Jojo
  22. I am wondering if I can replace the ceramic lifters in an 05' ASET-I 400, with powerleash, with the steel lifters from the early E-Techs? I have done dozens of cam replacements in E-7's and E-Techs, but never swapped lifter types... Thank you, Joey Mack
  23. Too funny... that's sounds like what I would do too...well I lived there in the early 90's. and it smelled great. I would go into the little store attached to it and get donuts and bread.. Small world for sure. I also had an apartment on cumberland ave. right up the street from Nissen's...
  24. Thats low, are the batts good? during this test? I have simply put a paper clip in the plug at the dimmer switch to see if the lights come on "Full bright"..
