  1. Ooops,, I forgot the torque routine,, 25 lbft,, then 50 lbft, then finish at 100 lbft.....
  2. yes they are 12MM studs. PAI has a kit and the gaskets, felpro makes the gaskets.. be sure to put high temp sealant on the threads for the bottom studs. Those holes are live right in to the pushrod bore.. also, pay attention to how deep you go with them. You may hit the push rod, E-7's have thinner push rods than E-Techs, but just get an understanding of what you have.. Jojo
  3. I have one of those small ones. It was on a rookie rod, on a 78 DM i used to drive..
  4. Buddy, its a filter,, it filters all the bad stuff from the VGT actualter.. oil, dirt, what ever.. Yours is the first one I have seen with it removed.. and Ive worked on a lot of them,,,
  5. Main jets.. can use carb cleaner with the little red hose as a jetter and flush it out.
  6. This is one of those threads where a handful of us try to help a guy who is really working hard to fix his truck and has the respect to keep in touch with those of us that take the time to share our knowledge... BMT is a great place and a great tool.. Jojo
  7. That valve is the air regulator for the filter, the red button is a dust cover, theres a relief valve behind it. After a while they will leak. Easy repair..
  8. Thanks Paul.. ill leave this thread where i found it.. God Bless you
  9. No sh!t ?? Bypassed, ok.. the air line going to the turbo should be a #4 stainless braided line. I wish i had a bunch of pictures of a complete AC engine.
  10. can you fill the bowl with rubbing alcohol, then run the engine till the bowl is dry?
  11. did you remove the main jet and ream it with a torch tip cleaner or a wire or what ever?
  12. yes to clean air.. I dont know how the VGT can move if the filter is gone. The VGT air goes through the filter before it goes to the turbo.. Man I wish me and FJH was there to look at this Sh!t show.. take another break.. its getting late..
  13. I just found this Posting,, I like the subject matter.. Not sure why it died off.. seems like a lot of great Americans commented on this one.. BTW,, 4 White cops were shot and killed in Charlotte yeterday, by a Non-White career criminal.. It is terrible!! if the table was turned, the Lib's would have already called it a race based shooting.. WTF??
  14. My Dad bought a 6 unit building in Biddeford Maine 20+ years ago. He was cleaning out a smal storage room and said, Hey Joe, I found some old truck books.. I was working at a Mack Dealershiip at the time, ( Maine Mack in Portlad Maine) really in Westbrook.. He didnt know what they meant to me, just that he didnt want to toss them in the trash.. there was about 6 books in total..
  15. I have 3 of these,, one is near perfect.. Look close,, its a B-61 book
  16. yes, FJH makes a good point,, this Is why I was stressing the need to check the small air filter.. I have solved low power complaints many times with a fresh filter..
  17. VGT operation.. here is a link to a codes list.. Mack Truck VMACIII 1998 Fault Codes List - Truckmanualshub.com.url
  18. Buddy,,, I/We totaly understand, actually I feel safe speaking for the other guys on this.. You are doing just fine.. I wish I had a truck here to take a picture and text it to you.. Take a break and grab a beer,.. Jojo
  19. FJH?/ I wonder if he can remove the VGT air cylider and lock the turbo vanes in the open position, then just watch the boost gauge. also woder if there is a 35 PSI relief valve that can be screwed into the intake manifold to act as a waste gate??
  20. did you lay under the driver side and look up to see the filter and controller? it is low on the engine, right in front of the starter..
