  1. blue DM, what year is the truck
  2. 680 is likley the series. I was hoping i could help you,. I have a lot of 690 parts...
  3. 680 or 690 jake heads?
  4. When was Gushee on business. I lived in Gray, from 82-90. Graduated high School at Gray-New Gloucester. In '87.. i dont remember the name. Just curious.
  5. the clutch brake is only used when stopped and you select the next ger to go,, forward or backwards.. Paul is so smart.. but who am I to judge,, I look up to Paul.. Mack transmissions shift slower than Eatonas Paul said,, I do a count in my head with the Mack trans,... ''1-1,000-nuetral-2-1,000 shift.. and so-on.. if can catch my drift.. I love these post's...
  6. cutting ubolts on relaxed spring packs is a procedure.. Respect you at 60.. i'm only 55+ and my body is broken from truck repair.. My Brain knows what to do, but my knees, and lower back tell me to shut the 'F' up !!!
  7. Mech, was for sure talking about after you load at the pit, make a sharp turn in the pit, lock it down and get out and look.. I know you arent doing the work, but the more you know about the issue you have, the better you can be served by the repairman.. Mech 'IS' a repairman... your in the right place Vinny..
  8. Sounds right to me.. Mech...
  9. Washer # 297KB220... Bolt # 3AX 1803 https://photos.app.goo.gl/LcebgPb6CE2u56bp6
  10. bolt # is 3AX 1803,, cant remember the washer, I guess it is the 2'' diam. by about 7/8'' thick. I am going out to my parts pile to see if I can get a part number for the washer.
  11. Vinny .. Meet mechohaulic.. Mech, i think his truck was NOT speced with transverse torque rods, so 'twist' controll is up to the saddles and bolster boxes.. I never could understand why those torque arms werent install on ALL vocational and off road trucks... grocery getters need not apply..
  12. yep, its moving.. do both sides do the same thing?
  13. i looked at the picture again, are the 'Twinkies' instaled inside the bolster boxes at the spring tips? you can look inside to see if they are there.
  14. I bet we knew Vinny, all good.. my guess is you are nearing your whit's end?
  15. I worked at a Mack shop that had a hydraulic torque wrench. It was great ! you could do them on or off the truck.
  16. Exactly !!
  17. just put YOUR eyes on the trunnion ends.. the bottom side gets ground down and will have a rough surface. it wont be flat, but it will be obvious. please post pictures for us to give opinions on.. Jojo
  18. the trunnion bar is probably flat on the bottom where the saddle goes. your wasting your money if the trunion is not replaced. Axle Surgeon can cut the old bar out and weld in a new one, provided the 'A-Frame' is not rusted through or cracking at the top inside the frame, where the 3'' holes are for air lines and wires. to pass through.. Not sure of todays price, but 10 years ago it was $1,500.00 parts and labor, you hand to strip the spring packs off and have the truck on stands for them to do the job.
  19. mech, I made that copy from an older Mack suspension book, 25 years ago.. I didnt know anything back then..
  20. I cant say that I have ever used that updated saddle. how much wear is there on the spring leaves? I guess if it fits snug, then the springs should stay in line.. do you have 7/8'' diameter u-bolts? here is a chart that I copied decades ago. hope it helps..
  21. I guess after 20+ years working hard on Mack's and having to get them back to work... I woulld work extra hard to make a tool in a jiffy to get the job done.. Nothing ''hack'' about that..
  22. Mech... I called for you on this.. Paul posted,, look back, youll see.. at the same time I said to ME,, dumba$$ 20 guys here know about this.... I was doing damage control..
  23. after using bent flat stock for these and king pins... I bought the sockets.. when you have to get it doen you make it happen...
