  1. that is the range shift cylinder, did you try to pull the rear cover?
  2. im am not super smart about his, but if im right, when boost gets too high, the pressure is sent to the Bimber valve on the front of the injection pump, and the valve pushes the rack in the injection pump back a bit so as to not over fuel the engine, Iguess like a governor, but using boost to regulate.. thats all I got..
  3. I wonder if it is a form of reversing relay. they may have kinked it to get more ''go'' out of the injection pump...
  4. thats better,,, those 4 bolts com out and the bracket mounts there, and you take a bolt out on the carrier mounting bolts and add a longer bolt to hold the bracket at that point.. the temp sensor is in the drain hole for draining the oil. no biggie, just know that..
  5. Yes Mech, the rear carierers are not drilled and pluged with short bolts any more.. Dont know what year that started, but it wasnt too long ago.. It is stupid.. it takes away options, I think that the rear output hole is eliminated too.. I guess if you wanted to build a tri-drive, you would have to buy new carrieers..
  6. I would love to see it when its done.. I am curious how this will be done without replacing the rear carier.
  7. I dont know how you would make it work.
  8. Good question, some of the carriers were not drilled and threaded for the torque arm bracket.
  9. the carport name may be stamped into the square tubing,, I know one of mine is.. Eagle Carport's..
  10. just like a Mack 1070-B but without the lo and lo-lo gears..
  11. It is an Eaton. it was a five speed gear box that you could split each gear. 1st, lo/Hi 2nd lo/Hi 3rd lo/Hi..... split it like a range shift but i was a split shift...
  12. gosh, now I wish I knew to look at how the top 2 shifted themselves. i think you had the splitter up, and it knew how to split it on its own.. dammmit.. I just wasnt deep in at that time..
  13. is the frame pre-drilled for the mount that is needed? 16mm (5/8'') holes in your case about 3 1/2 inches apart..
  14. Mech.. You have to let me me do something for you.. I want to buy you 2 of the next coins that are released.. sorry , cats out of the bag , but i didnt want you to buy the next ones.. I will give Barry your address and send them to you.
  15. Hey mech?? did you see a familiar toy truck in the pictures?

  17. I dont remember that. I was fairly new as a Mack Mechanic. The only reason I remember what I posted was because I did more than 20 of the P.D.I.'s and installed the add-ons.. plus test drove all of them as part of the P.D.I. I wouldnt mind driving one today just to get back in the groove of shifting that tranny..
  18. I do beleive back in 2002. when i was at Mack, our local grocery wharehouse, (Hannaford Bros.) bought 36 of them. Day cab and road trucks. Maxicruise, 355/380 H.P. all had Eaton Super 10 Top 2, transmissions, and Eaton rears...
  19. Do you have the small line at the top of the radiator
  20. You should get the solution respect sir.. Great find and repair..
  21. Dammit !!! Mack should have been the Best.!!!!
  22. Yes guys, I worked them both in the dirt.. Eaton is better, and easier to do a synchro repair.. fixed many of them, I could do an eaton repair in 1 shift at the shop, from first test drive, to last test drive.. ( of course parts were in the parts room back then) .. I still have my shop made jig in my shop here.. it held many Eaton back boxes.. and a few Meritors too..
